Safety Precautions
Be sure to read all safety precautions carefully before use so that it can be used correctly.
These precautions are prepared for safety use and prevent you and other people from hazards and injuries.
[Power Source]
Independent use of wall socket rated 250 V 13 A or
over. Do not connect other appliances to the same
wall socket.
Overloading with multiple plugs causes wall socket
to abnormally overheat, and may cause fire.
Do not damage, injure or alter power cord.
Damaged power cord may cause fire or electric shock.
Do not forcefully or unnecessarily pull, twist or tie cord
into bundle. Moreover, do not tie, trample on, force-
fully squeeze into a tight space, or alter in any way.
Do not place heavy object on cord.
Keep cord away from heat producing appliances.
Do not use when either power cord or plug is dam-
aged, or when wall socket is loose.
It may cause electric shock, short circuit or fire.
Do not remove power plug from wall socket by pull-
ing on cord. Rather, grasp plug itself and pull.
Removal power plug by pulling power cord may cause
burnout, electric shock or short circuit.
Do not plug in or remove power plug from wall socket
with wet hand. It may cause electric shock.
Be sure to plug out power plug from wall socket,
when the cooktop is not in use.
Electric shock or fire by short circuit may cause from
frayed electrical power cord.
[Influence of magnetism]
For people with pacemakers, please consult your
physician before using the cooktop.
It may cause electromagnetic interference.
Keep magnetic materials away from the cooktop.
Memory distortion may occur in such things as ATM
cash cards, telephone cards, magnetically sensitized
train passes and floppy disks by placing them on top
plate.
Separate at least 3 meters from TV set, radio or other
electrical appliances with remote control.
It may cause static interference or malfunction.
[Location of the cooktop]
Keep the cooktop away from flammable walls and
shelves which may locate above or surrounding the
cooktop.
It may cause fire.
Front of the cooktop should be made open. Allow a
distance of 3cm or more on side and rear, 100cm or
more above.
Do not use near a fire or flame, or where it could
become wet.
It may cause electric shock or short circuit.
It may cause excessive temperature rise in the
cooktop ‘s inner mechanism, causing breakdown.
Do not cover air inlet and/or outlet opening.
It may cause excessive temperature rise in the
cooktop ‘s inner mechanism, causing fire.
Place the cooktop 3cm or more away from the wall or
obstacles.
Do not use the cooktop in an unstable location.
When the cooktop is set on an incline surface, the
pan or pot may slip off causing burns or injuries.
Do not move the cooktop when cooking pot or pan
is in place.
The pot or pan may slip off causing burns or injuries.
Do not use the cooktop when cooking pot or pan is
not in the stable condition.
When cooking pot or pan is on the protruded edge of
top plate, the pot or pan may drop off causing burns
or injuries.
Safety Precautions
[During or after use]
Do not use the cooktop for other than intended use.
Never try to disassemble or alter the cooktop.
Under no circumstances should the cooktop be
taken apart or repaired by anyone other than the
qualified authorized personnel.
It may cause fire, injury or electric shock.
In the event of malfunction or breakdown, plug out
power plug, stop use and contact Sanyo Service
centre.
Close supervision is necessary when the cooker is
used by or near the children. Keep out of reach of
small children.
It may cause burns, injury or electric shock.
Do not place foreign matter or metal objects such
as pins, forks, or wire etc. into inlet opening, outlet
opening or open crevices.
It may cause electric shock or abnormal movements,
causing injury.
Do not immerse in or douse with water.
It may cause electric shock, short circuit, malfunc-
tioning or breakdown.
Do not bang or drop heavy objects on top plate.
Top plate may break and it may cause overheating,
malfunction or electric shock.
WARNING: Should top plate break, unplug and do
not use.
Do not place heavy objects on top plate.
It may cause cracks or warping of the top plate caus-
ing a failure of the cooktop.
Weight on top plate should not exceed 40kg.
When the cooktop is not in use, do not place objects
on top plate.
Do not operate the cooktop when top plate is wet.
This may result in spurting of steam from bottom of
cooking pot or pan.
Only use vessels of the type and size recommended.
(see page 14)
Do not heat empty cooking pot or pan.
Cooking pot or pan will heat too hot and it may cause
burns.
It may cause damage to cooking pot or pan, and
malfunction or breakdown of the cooktop.
If cooking pan needs to be preheated before frying or
sauteing, make sure the butter, oil, or other liquid does
not evaporate.
Be careful of boil over from cooking pot or pan.
It may cause burns, injuries or failure.
Do not place paper under cooking pot or pan.
The paper may ignite and burn.
Place only cooking utensils on top plate.
Do not put aluminium foil or cans directly on top
plate when the cooker is working.
The foil will become red hot, cans will burst and may
cause burns and injuries.
Laying metal objects such as spoons, forks, etc. be-
side cooking pot or pan on top plate may become red
hot and cause burns.
Do not touch top plate for a while after cooking.
Since top plate will still be hot and may cause burns.
Do not place plastic vessel on top plate for a while
after cooking.
Since top plate will still be hot, the plastic vessel may
melt and burn.
Keep rings, watches and similar objects worm by
the user away from top plate when the cooktop is
working.
It may cause hot and injuries.
Do not leave the cooker unattended while deep fry-
ing food.
If the quantity of cooking oil is not sufficient, the oil
temperature may rise excessively and it may cause
fire.

This plug is not waterproof – keep dry
This cord is already fitted with a moulded plug incorporating a fuse, the value of which is indicated on the pin face of the
plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced, an ASTA approved BS1362 fuse must be used of the same rating, marked
thus.
If the fuse cover is detachable, never use the plug with the cover omitted. If a replacement fuse cover is required, ensure
it is the same colour as that visible on the pin face of the plug.
Fuse covers are available from Sanyo Service Centre.
If the plug supplied is not suitable for your socket outlet, it should be cut off and destroyed*.
The end of the flexible cord should be suitably prepared and the correct plug fitted.
WARNING: A plug with bared flexible cords is hazardous if engaged in a live socket outlet.

To boil or grill.
Preliminary work:
Plug into wall socket.
Put food into pot or pan, place it in centre of top plate.
1. Press ON/OFF key.
ON lamp lights.
2. Press POWER LEVEL key.
By pressing desired POWER LEVEL key, POWER LEVEL lamps light,
and heating starts at selected power level.
The power level can be change at anytime during cooking by pressing
desired POWER LEVEL key.
During cooking, the cooktop may buzz depending on the pan, but it is not a failure.
3. After cooking, press ON/OFF key.
All lamps turn off and heating stops.
The cooling fan rotates for 1 minute after heating stops.
After using the cooktop, plug out power plug.

Usable and Unusable Pots and Pans

In case of pots and pans (18-8,18-10) with thick-
ness of 0.7mm or more, the max. power consump-
tion is reduced than the rated.
There are unusable pots and pans (18-8,18-10)
with thickness of 1.5mm or more.

(there do exist some kinds of pots and pans with
aluminium or copper linings that will not heat up.)

Unusable pots and pans
Preliminary work:
Plug into wall socket.
Pour water in pot or pan, and place it in centre of top plate.
1. Press ON/OFF key.
ON lamp lights.
2. Press POWER LEVEL key.
In case of usable pots and pans, ON lamp lights.
In case of unusable pots and pans, ON lamp flashes and buzzer beeps for
one minute, and then the cooktop stops automatically.
3. Press ON/OFF key.
After testing for usability, press ON/OFF key. Since the cooktop will heat
up if it is a usable pot or pan, the pot or pan will become hot.
After use, plug out power plug.
How to Distinguish Usable Pots and Pans
Operation principal of Induction cooktop
When electric current passes through the heating coil,
lines of magnetic force are activated.
By placing something like an iron cooking pot on the top
plate, an eddy current is induced at its bottom, and the
pot heats up.

Trouble Shooting Guide
Make following simple checks before asking for Service.
Never remove or interfere with any parts or screws. THIS COULD PROVE VERY DANGEROUS.
If the cooktop does not operate.
Lamps are lit but the cooktop does not work.
ON lamp flashes and beep sounds.
The cooktop automatically stops after 1 minute.
ON lamp turns off, but power level lamp lights.
• Check that power plug is properly plugged into the AC wall
socket.
• Remove power plug and plug into the AC wall socket.
• Is pot or pan placed on top plate?
• Is pot or pan usable? (see page 14)
• Is pot or pan positioned properly in centre of top plate?
• Are air inlet and/or outlet covered?
• Are air inlet and/or outlet blocked by dust or dirt?
• Is the room temperature very high?
• Is an empty pot or pan being heated?
In the following cases, immediate repair is necessary. Remove power plug and contact Sanyo Service centre.
Power cord is damaged.
Power plug / power cord become abnormally hot.
Electrical power stops and starts when power cord is touched.
A split or crack occurs in top plate.
Cooling fan does not rotate.
Always clean the cooktop after each use.
Be sure to unplug the cooktop before cleaning.
This appliance shall not be cleaned with a water jet.
Do not immerse the cooktop in water or detergent. It may cause accidents, malfunction or breakdown.
Do not use any of following items for cleaning. They will cause colour change or deterioration on the control panel.
• Benzine, Thinner, Gasoline, Bleaching agent, Acids
• Polishing powder, Cleanser ( can be used for the top plate )
• Scrubbing brushes, Metal scrubbing brushes
Top Plate
With a firmly wrung out damp cloth, wipe off the cooktop. When grime is particularly severe, after rubbing with a soft liquid
cleanser, be sure to wipe off thoroughly with a firmly wrung out damp cloth.
Control panel
Wipe off with a firmly wrung out damp cloth. When grime is particularly severe, wipe area with a cloth which has first been
dipped in a solution of liquid kitchen detergent and water , and then firmly wrung out. Remove all detergent with a clean,
damp cloth. Be sure that water or detergent does not get into open crevices of control panel.
Dust in air inlet or outlet
Remove with a cloth or the dusting brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
Clean the removable air filter regularly. (at least once a week)
Do not operate cooktop without air filter in position.
