OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
OPERATION
The Cyclone Separator is designed as a pre-separator to collect larger wood
chips in the separator steel drum and smaller dust particles in your dust
collector. This Cyclone Separator converts your 1 Stage dust collector into a 2
Stage dust collection system.
Setting up your Cyclone Separator
Note: Use of the proper type of dust collection hose to connect the machinery
to the Cyclone Separator and then to the Dust Collector. Never use a dryer
vent hose for this purpose.
Important note: If you choose to not place and use a dust collection bag
inside the steel drum, the negative pressure hose must be completely
removed, and both openings need to be blocked.
Connecting Woodworking Machinery
1. Connect a 4” dust collection hose (not supplied) to your woodworking
machinery dust port, secure it with a 4” wire clamp (not supplied). Connect
the end of the 4” dust collection hose to one of the two 4” inlets on the
2 x 4” inlet adaptor (A) Fig.8, secure it with a 4” wire clamp (not supplied).
Note: You can connect up to two woodworking machines at the same time to
the 2 x 4” inlet adaptor (A) Fig.8. If only one machine is connected, make sure
to place the inlet cap (B) on the second inlet as shown in Fig.8.
Connecting Cyclone Separator to Dust Collector
Most 1.5 to 3 HP Dust Collectors come with a 6” inlet with an multiple 4”
adaptor. There are a few different ways the Cyclone Separator can be
connected:
1. Connect a 6” dust collection hose (not included) to the 6” outlet adaptor on
top of the cyclone housing, secure it with a 6” wire clamp (not supplied).
Connect the other end of the 6” dust collection hose to the 6” inlet of the
FIGURE 8
FIGURE 9
Dust Collector, secure it with a 6” wire clamp (not supplied). The Cyclone Separator and Dust Collector
collection system is now ready to be used.
2. 1” to 6” outlet adaptor (A) Fig.9 can be used to connect a variety of hose diameters to your dust
collector. The most common is 4”, here are instructions for using a 4” dust collection hose:
- First cut the 1” to 6” outlet adaptor (A) Fig.9 on the edge of the 4” diameter (A- white dotted line Fig.9)
of the outlet adaptor, this can be done using a hand saw or multi-tool. Then position it over the 6” outlet
adaptor as shown.
- Connect a 4” dust collection hose (not included) over the 4” section of the 1” to 6” outlet adaptor, secure
it with a 4” wire clamp (not supplied). Connect the other end of the 4” dust collection hose to one of
the 4” inlets of the Dust Collector, secure it with a 4” wire clamp (not supplied). The Cyclone Separator
and Dust Collector collection system is now ready to be used.
MAINTENANCE
CAUTION: WEARING A PARTICLE MASK/RESPIRATOR FOR PROTECTION AGAINST FINE DUST PARTICLES DURING CLEANING IS
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
1. TO AVOID INJURY OR ADVERSE REACTION TO DUST, A HIGH PRESSURE AIR HOSE SHOULD NOT BE USED ESPECIALLY IN
POORLY VENTILATED AREAS. The operator performing this cleaning function should wear safety glasses and a filter mask.
2. Empty out drum dust bag when wood chips reach the FULL level (1/2 up the view window).
Note: It is very important to make sure to not over fill the drum. If the drum dust bag is over filled, performance will not only be affected but the
wood chips will be aspirated back up the funnel to make its way towards the Dust Collector.
