Setting the fan motor software
4) Press the button on the remote control,
and confirm or change the display at on the
screen.
• For TH-42PWD4, switch from A0 to AA.
• For TH-42PWD5, confirm that the setting is 0.

5) Press the button on the remote control, and
change the display at on the screen.
For TH-42PWD4, switch from 0 to 7C.
For TH-42PWD5, switch from 0 to B1.
6) Press the VOL or VOL button
on the
remote control to change field on the
screen from 0 to 1.
7) Turn the power off by pressing the Power
button on the display.
1) While pressing and holding the VOL
button
on the display. Quickly press and release the
(Screen Display) button on the remote
control 3 times.
The CAT menu will appear.

Select CD Mode using the buttons on the
remote control.
3) Press and hold the button on the remote
control for at least 3 seconds.
The CD Mode screen will appear.
Be sure to confirm the software settings are completed under the
procedure below.
By this software settings the fan will detect its mulfunctions and stop operation to avoid
possible accidents.
Note: Instructions vary depending on the display.

Prepare the Wide Plasma Display
Be sure to position the cooling fans correctly
in the display.
Caution
1) Remove the rear cover from the display.
Place the display facing downward on a clean blanket or the like, and follow the steps below.
Remove 4 A bolts, 16 B screws, and
5 C screws from the display (25 bolts
and screws).
Put the rear cover and removed bolts
and screws to the side where they
will not get lost.

2) Attach the cooling fans and cooling fan relay printed circuit board.
3) Attach the connectors.

Connect cooling fan leads into
connectors FA2, FA3, FA4, and FA5.
Connect one end of each of the
supplied leads to the inline
connection board and the other ends
to Power Supply Printed Circuit
Board P10.
Secure all fan leads with the wire
clamps as shown.
4) Reattach the rear cover.
Reverse the steps given above for removing the cover. Insert the 25 screws and tighten the
screws.
Install the 4 cooling fans and cooling
fan relay printed circuit board at the
locations shown in the figure on the
left, using the supplied mounting
screws (M3).
First lightly tighten mounting screws
through and through , then
temporarily tighten screws through
together with the cooling fan relay
printed circuit board.
(First tighten screws lightly. After
properly positioning each fan, tighten
screws firmly.)

Components
Points to note during installation
This optional cooling fan kit is designed exclusively for use with this display
model.
In order to ensure correct, problem-free operation of the Wide Plasma Display, do
not install the Display in any of the following places.
Places which are next to sprinklers or sensors
Places which are subject to vibration or shocks
Places which are close to high-voltage wires or electric motors
Places in direct contact with air from heaters
When installing the wall-hanging bracket unit, use a mounting method appropriate
to the type of wall.
This kit does not include the bolts needed to mount the bracket to the wall. Please
purchase screws suitable for the material (wood, steel frame, concrete, etc.) of the
wall on which the bracket and Wide Plasma Display are to be mounted.
Insert the power cord plug for the Wide Plasma Display into a wall outlet which is
close and easily accessible.
Provide adequate ventilation so that the temperature around the display does not
rise above 40 . If there is insufficient movement of air inside the display, heat
may build up inside the display, and fire may result.

Thank you very much for purchasing the Plasma Display cooling fan Kit.
Installation work should only be carried out by a qualified technician.
If the unit is installed incorrectly, the display may fall down and personal injury may result.
Precautions with regard to setting up
WARNING
Always have a service technician perform the installation.
The internal components of the display may be hot and cause burns. If the product is not
correctly installed and adjusted, damage may result to the product.
Make sure that all safety factors regarding strength of installation are observed.
If the installation strength is insufficient, the display may fall down and personal injury may
result.
Do not install in places which are unable to bear loads.
If the strength of the installation surface is insufficient, the display may fall down and personal
injury may result.
Caution
Do not install in places which are subject to humidity, dust, oil fumes, water vapor or
excessive heat.
These can have adverse effects on Wide Plasma Display operation, and fire or electric shocks
may result.
Two people are required to install and remove the display.
If two people are not present, the display may be dropped, and personal injury may result.
