About this Guide

Depending upon which system upgrade was purchased, the remote

control used with the system may be either; an OEM (Original Equip-

ment Manufacturer) remote control or the Automate 7643A remote

control. This guide covers both, however, some features and informa-

tion are exclusive to the Automate 7643A remote control. Where ap-

plicable, these are noted as "7643A only" or found under the section

"Features available with 7643A Remote Control only" on page 6.

Using Your System

Arming the Alarm

Lock the vehicle using your OEM remote control or press and release

if using the 7643A remote control.

The doors lock, lights ﬂash and the horn/siren sounds once. Dome

light turns off, starter kill becomes active, and the status LED* begins

ﬂashing.

If any trigger inputs are active when arming, the horn/siren sounds a

second time as a notiﬁcation, both the onboard impact sensor and the

active input are bypassed. The open zone is bypassed until corrected

and the impact sensor is bypassed until the open zone is corrected or

for a maximum of 4 minutes. While bypassed, the active input is indi-

cated by the status LED which, ﬂashes for 1 minute after arming (see

"Table of Zones").

* The combined Status LED/Valet Button is generally located some-

where beneath the dashboard.

When armed, your vehicle is protected as follows:

s Light impacts to the vehicle ﬂashes the lights and sounds the horn/

siren in rapid succession for a few seconds, while heavy impacts

trigger a full alarm output of light ﬂashes and horn/siren sounds

for 30 seconds.

s Turning the ignition on or opening an entry point will trigger a full

alarm output.

s If equipped, the starter interrupt prevents the vehicle’s starter from

crank ing.

Disarming the Alarm

Unlock the vehicle using your OEM remote control or press and release

if using the 7643A remote control.

The doors unlock, lights ﬂash and the horn/siren sounds twice to con-

ﬁrm normal disarming. Dome light turns on, starter kill becomes inac-

tive, and the status LED turns off.

If the system has been triggered, the horn/siren sounds four times, or

ﬁve times if the sensor is bypassed, the status LED continues to ﬂash to

indicate triggered inputs (see "Table of Zones"). Turn on the ignition to

reset the LED.

Note: The LED does not report a Pre-trigger.

Disarming without a Remote Control

To disarm the system when the remote control is not available use the

following steps:

1. Turn the ignition to the run position.

2. Press and release the Valet button* once within 10 seconds.

The system then disarms.

Note: As a precaution, if programmed for Passive Arming the system

should be placed into Valet Mode until a remote control is available.

See Valet Mode section next for entry procedure.

Valet Mode

Valet mode disables the system so it can’t arm when passively arming

or when using the remote control to lock the doors.

To enter and exit Valet mode use the following steps.

1. Turn the ignition to the run position and then off

2. Press and release the Valet button* within 10 seconds

The status LED turns on when Valet mode is entered (or ignition is off)

and off when exited (or ignition is on).

Note: When valet mode is enabled, the convenience features of your

system are still operational but the security features of your system are

not.

* The combined Status LED/Valet Button is generally located some-

where beneath the dashboard.

Features available with 7643A Remote Control only

Silent Arming

To temporarily turn off the arm horn/siren sounds, press AUX prior to

pressing

The arming sounds are muted for that one operation.

Note: See your dealer if you wish to have the arm sounds turned off

permanently.

Silent Disarming

To temporarily turn off the disarm horn/siren sounds, press the AUX

button prior to pressing the

button. The disarming sounds are muted

for that one operation.

Note: See your dealer if you wish to have the disarm sounds turned off

permanently.

Sensor Bypass

1. Press and release the AUX button within ﬁve seconds after press-

ing the

button, the lights ﬂash two times and the pre-trigger

output is bypassed.

2. Press and release the AUX button again within 5 seconds, the

lights ﬂash 3 times and the pre-trigger and full-trigger outputs are

bypassed.

3. Press the

button anytime to reset the sensor.

Panic Mode

If you are threatened in or near your vehicle, you can attract attention

by triggering the system with your remote control. Press and hold

or

, after 2 seconds the horn/siren sounds and the parking lights ﬂash

for 30 seconds.

Press

, or to stop the output.

Car Finder

Car ﬁnder can help you locate your vehicle in a parking lot.

Press and release the AUX button, then press and release the button

within 5 seconds. The horn/siren emits one sound and the lights ﬂash

10 times.

Press the

or buttons to stop the feature.

Additional Features

Nuisance Prevention Circuitry (NPC)

NPC monitors all alarm zones and, if any are triggered three times

within an hour, bypasses them until corrected. If a point of entry (trunk,

hood, door) is left open following a forced entry, it is bypassed. It be-

comes active again only after being closed.

Bypassed sensors automatically reset after one hour, and after

the vehicle is driven. Disarming then re-arming the system does not reset

bypassed sensors.

Power Save

When the vehicle is parked for an extended period, the system modi-

ﬁes its LED output to reduce power consumption. If Armed, the ﬂashing

is reduced after 24 hours. When Valet mode is On, the LED turns off

after one hour and resets each time the ignition is turned off.

Optional Features

Passive Arming

Exit the vehicle, after the doors are closed the passive arming count-

down begins. The LED ﬂashes quickly and upon reaching 50 seconds

the siren then chirps once. At 60 seconds the system arms itself.

Note: You can re-enter the vehicle anytime before the system arms, and

after closing the entry point passive arming resumes.

Trunk Release (7643A remote control only)

Press and hold AUX for two seconds to open the trunk/rear hatch.

Remote Start/Auxiliary activation using OEM remote control

Press the Lock button on the OEM remote twice, the remote start (see

remote start owners guide for more detail) or auxiliary output activates.

Note: Some factory keyless entry remote controls are disabled while a

remote start is active, therefore you cannot deactivate the remote start

with the OEM remote control and must use the keys instead to unlock

the doors in order to enter the vehicle.

Remote Start/Auxiliary activation using 7643A remote control

Press and release

to activate the remote start (see remote start own-

ers guide for more detail) or auxiliary output.

Note: When this button is programmed for remote start activation, it

can no longer be used to activate the panic feature. Press and hold the

button for two seconds to activate the panic feature.

Programming Remote Controls (7643A only)

Remote Control learn procedure:

1. Open a door and turn the ignition on.

2. Press and release the Valet button one time and then press and

hold the Valet button until one horn/siren sound conﬁrms selection.

3. Release button (Learning exits in 30 seconds).

4. Press and hold the remote

button until the transmit LED turns on

solid (10 seconds).

5. The horn/siren emits one sound to conﬁrm learning.

6. Repeat for each remote control to be learned (up to four).

7. Turn the ignition off or wait 30 seconds to exit learning, the horn/

siren emits two sounds to conﬁrm.

Remote Control delete procedure:

1. Open a door and turn the ignition on.

2. Press and release the Valet button two times and then press and

hold the Valet button until two horn/siren sounds conﬁrms selec-

tion.

3. Release button (Learning exits in 30 seconds).

4. Press and release the

button of a programmed remote control.

5. The horn/siren emits one sound to conﬁrm deletion.

6. Turn the ignition off or wait 30 seconds to exit learning, the horn/

siren emits two sounds to conﬁrm exiting.

Battery Information (7643A only)

The remote control is powered by 1 coin cell battery (CR-2032) that

can be purchased at most retailers. When the battery begins to weak-

en, the operating range reduces.

Battery Replacement

1. Unscrew the hardware on unit rear and remove from housing.

2. Hold the unit base with one hand and gently twist and pull the

main housing body with the other. This releases all parts of the

housing assembly.

3. Remove battery from clip and replace with a new one while ob-

serving the correct polarity.

4. Reassemble unit and secure with hardware.

Battery Disposal

Directed cares about the environment. If you need to dispose

of the battery, please do so in accordance with your munici-

pal requirements for battery disposal.

Limited lifetime consumer warranty

Directed Electronics. (“Directed”) promises to the original purchaser to repair or replace (at

Directed’s election) with a comparable reconditioned model any Directed unit (hereafter the

“unit”), excluding without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters, the associated sensors

and accessories, which proves to be defective in workmanship or material under reason-

able use during the lifetime of the vehicle provided the following conditions are met: the

unit was purchased from an authorized Directed dealer, the unit was professionally installed

and serviced by an authorized Directed dealer; the unit will be profession¬ally reinstalled

in the vehicle in which it was originally installed by an authorized Directed dealer; and the

unit is returned to Directed, shipping prepaid with a legible copy of the bill of sale or other

dated proof of purchase bearing the following information: consumer’s name, telephone

number and address; the authorized dealers name, telephone number and address; com-

plete product description, including accessories; the year, make and model of the vehicle;

vehicle license number and vehicle identification number. All components other than the

unit, including without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters and the associated sensors

and accessories, carry a one-year warranty from the date of purchase of the same. ALL

PRODUCTS RECEIVED BY DIRECTED FOR WARRANTY REPAIR WITHOUT PROOF OF

PURCHASE FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WILL BE DENIED. This warranty is non-

transferable and is automatically void if: the unit’s date code or serial number is defaced,

missing or altered; the unit has been modified or used in a manner contrary to its intended

purpose; the unit has been damaged by accident, unreasonable use, neglect, improper

service, installation or other causes not arising out of defects in materials or construction.

The warranty does not cover damage to the unit caused by installation or removal of the

unit. Directed, in its sole discretion, will determine what constitutes excessive damage and

may refuse the return of any unit with excessive damage.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING

BUT NOT LIMITED TO EXPRESS WARRANTY, IMPLIED WARRANTY, WARRANTY OF

MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTY OF NON-

INFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, ARE EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED; AND

DIRECTED NEITHER ASSUMES NOR AUTHORIZES ANY PERSON OR ENTITY TO ASSUME

FOR IT ANY DUTY, OBLIGATION OR LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH ITS PRODUCTS.

DIRECTED DISCLAIMS AND HAS ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY FOR ANY AND ALL ACTS

OF THIRD PARTIES INCLUDING ITS AUTHORIZED DEALERS OR INSTALLERS. DIRECTED

SECURITY SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THIS UNIT, ARE DETERRENTS AGAINST POSSIBLE

PRICE OF THE UNIT. DIRECTED SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES

WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES,

INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, DAMAGE TO VEHICLE, DAMAGES FOR THE LOSS OF TIME,

LOSS OF EARNINGS, COMMERCIAL LOSS, LOSS OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY

AND THE LIKE. NOTWITHSTANDING THE ABOVE, THE MANUFACTURER DOES OFFER

A LIMITED WARRANTY TO REPLACE OR REPAIR THE CONTROL MODULE SUBJECT TO

THE CONDITIONS AS DESCRIBED HEREIN. THIS WARRANTY IS VOID IF THE UNIT

HAS NOT BEEN PURCHASED FROM DIRECTED, OR AN AUTHORIZED DIRECTED

DEALER, OR IF THE UNIT HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY ACCIDENT, UNREASONABLE USE,

NEGLIGENCE, ACTS OF GOD, NEGLECT, IMPROPER SERVICE, OR OTHER CAUSES

NOT ARISING OUT OF DEFECT IN MATERIALS OR CONSTRUCTION.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty will last or the exclu-

sion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. This warranty gives you specific

legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary from State to State.

This warranty is only valid for sale of product(s) within the United States of America and
