2. Intended use
The weather station displays the dierent measured values e.g. the inside/outside
temperature,the inside/ outsidemoisture, thequantityofrain,thewindspeedand
wind direction.
The measured data of the external sensors are transmitted by radio to the weather
station.
In addition the weather station calculates a weather forecast using an internal air
pressuresensorandrecordingoftheairpressurechanges,whichareindicatedonthe
displaybygraphicsymbols.
TimeanddatecanbesetautomaticallyusingperDCFtimesymbolsignal.However,a
manualsettingisalsopossible(e.g.withreceptionproblems).
Theproductispoweredbybatteries.Theweatherstationcanalsobeoperatedviaan
externalwallwart(notinthedeliveryscope,canbeorderedasanaccessory).
Themanufactureracceptsnoresponsibilityforincorrectdisplays,measuredvaluesor
weather forecasts and the consequences which can arise from this.
Theproductisintendedforprivateuse.Itisnotsuitableformedicalpurposesorfor
providinginformationtothegeneralpublic.

6. Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on
proper handling in these operating instructions, we assume no liability

invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
• Thedeviceisnotatoy.Keepitoutofthereachofchildrenandpets.Do
notleavepackagingmateriallyingaroundcarelessly.Thesemaybecome
dangerousplayingmaterialforchildren.
• The weather station is only suited to dry, closed internal rooms. Do not
exposeto directsunlight,strongheat,cold,dampnessor wet,otherwise
it will be damaged.

• Theexternalsensorissuitableforoperatingintheexternalarea.However,
itshouldnotbeoperatedinorunderwater.
• Protect the product from powerful shocks, ammable gases, steam and
solvents.
• Donotplacetheproductunderanymechanicalstress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of
operationandprotectit from anyaccidentaluse.Safe operation can no
longerbeguaranteediftheproduct:
- isvisiblydamaged,
- isnolongerworkingproperly,
- hasbeenstoredforextendedperiodsinpoorambientconditionsor
- hasbeensubjectedtoanyserioustransport-relatedstresses.
• Pleasehandletheproductcarefully.Jolts,impactsorafallevenfromalow
heightcandamagetheproduct.
• Do not use this product in hospitals or medical facilities. Although the
externalsensoronlysendsoutrelativelyweakradiosignals,thesecould
leadtothemalfunctionoflifesupportingsystems.Thesamemayalsoapply
to other areas.
• The mains outlet must be located near to the device and be easily
accessible.
• Onlyusethesuppliedmainsadapterasapowersupply.
• Only connectthepower adaptertoa normalmainssocketconnectedto
thepublicsupply.Beforeplugginginthepoweradapter, check whether
thevoltagestatedonthepoweradaptercomplieswiththevoltageofyour
electricitysupplier.
• Neverconnectordisconnectpoweradaptersifyourhandsarewet.
• Neverunplugthepoweradapterfromthemainssocketbypullingonthe
cable;alwaysusethegripsontheplug.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is not pinched,
kinkedordamagedbysharpedges.
• Alwayslaythecablessothatnobodycantripoverorbecomeentangledin
them.Thisposesariskofinjury.

• Forsafetyreasons,disconnectthepoweradapterfromthemainssocket
during storms.
• Ifthepoweradapterisvisiblydamaged,donottouchit.Riskoffatalinjury
duetoelectricshock!Firstturnothepowersupplytothepoweroutlet
thatthepoweradapterisconnectedto(ipothefuseandthenturnothe
residualcurrentoperatedcircuitbreakertodisconnectthepoweroutletat
allphases).Nowunplugthedevicefromthepoweroutlet.Disposeofthe
poweradapterinanenvironmentallyfriendlyfashion,discontinueuseofit
immediately.Replaceitwithanidenticalpoweradapter.
• Neverusetheproductimmediatelyafterithasbeenbroughtfromacold
room into a warm one. The condensation generated could destroy the
product.Theplug-inpowersupplyunitalsoinvolvesdangertolifebyelectric
shock!Allowthedevicetoreachroomtemperaturebeforeconnectingand
usingit.Thismaytakeseveralhours.
• Usetheproductinmoderateclimatesonly.Donotuseintropicalclimates.
• Never pour liquids over electric devices and never place liquid-lled
objectsnearthedevice.Ifliquidoranobjectenterstheinteriorofthedevice
nevertheless,rstpowerdowntherespectivesocket(e.g.switchocircuit
breaker)andthenpullthemainsplugfromthemainssocket.Donotoperate
theproductanymoreafterwards,buttakeittoaspecialistworkshop.
• Theuseofelectricaldevicesmustbesupervisedbytrainedstainschools,
trainingcentres,hobbyanddo-it-yourselfworkshops.

7. Notes on (rechargeable) batteries
• Correctpolaritymustbeobservedwhileinsertingthe(rechargeable)batteries.
• Rechargeablebatteriesshouldberemovedfromthedeviceifitisnotusedforalong
periodoftimetoavoiddamagethroughleaking.Leakingordamaged(rechargeable)
batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, Therefore use suitable
protectiveglovestohandlecorrupted(rechargeable)batteries.
• (Rechargeable) batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave
(rechargeable)batterieslyingaround,asthereisrisk,thatchildrenorpetsswallow
them.
• All(rechargeable)batteriesshouldbereplacedatthesametime.Mixingoldandnew
(rechargeable)batteriesin thedevicecan leadto(rechargeable)battery leakage
anddevicedamage.
• (Rechargeable)batteriesmustnotbedismantled,short-circuitedorthrownintore.
Neverrechargenon-rechargeablebatteries.Thereisariskofexplosion!

9. Installing the external sensor
a) Suitable location for the external sensor
• Theexternalsensormustbesetupoutside.
• Theexternalsensormustbeplacedwithinsignaltransmissionrange(100minlineof
sight).Wallsandbarriersreducethetransmissionrange.Checkthesignalreception
oftheweatherstationbeforenallyinstallingit.
Ideally the external sensor should be installed on a mast or onto the roof of a house
whereitisexposedonallsidestowind,rainandsunlightsothatwindstrength,wind
direction,precipitationandtheUVindexcanbepreciselymeasured.
• Donotplacetheexternalsensornearelectromagneticradiationsourcessuchasa
pylonorelectricaldevices,sincethiscouldaectthelightninggage.Ensurethatthe
weathervaneandwindturbinearenotblocked,sothatprecisemeasurementscan
be guaranteed.
• Theexternalsensorshouldbeattachedtoanopensurfacesothatthesunlightcan
reachtheUVsensorofthedeviceatanytimeduringthedayandnotbeblockedby
trees and walls.
• Donotplacethedeviceundertreesorneartowalls.Thedevicemustbeexposedto
rainsothatprecisemeasurementsoftheprecipitationcanbeguaranteed.
• Pleaseensurethatrainwatercannotcollectunderthedevice.Itmustdrainofreely.
b) Test the eective transmission range.
• Horizontallyattachtheexternalsensortothepointselectedbyyouintheexternal
area(seeppage 13) andatleast1 meter fromtheoor. (This isstillnotthe nal
installation;donotattachtheexternalsensortoapostorontoaroofatthistime,until
the actual transmission range has been tested).
• Openthebatterycompartmentoftheexternalsensor(20)andinsert4AAbatteriesat
thecorrectpolarityintothebatterycompartment(pleasenoteplus/+andminus/-).
Closethebatterycompartmentandtightenthescrews.
• Placetheweatherstationatapositionselectedbyyouinsidethehousing.Connect
thepowersupplytotherearofthedeviceorinsert3AA batteriesat thecorrect
polarityintothebatterycompartment(9)(Pleasenoteplus/+andMinus/-).
• Presstheclock/setbuttononcetoskiptheinitialadjustmentfortheweatherforecast.

• Thesymbolfortheexternalsensorashesinthedisplay.Thedeviceswitchesto
searchmode.(Ifthesymbolstopsashing,youcankeepthesearchbutton(12)on
theweatherstationpressedfor3seconds,tostarttheRFsearch.)
Press the Transmit (19) button at the bottom of the external sensor to send the RF
signal to the weather station, if the weather station is in search mode.
• Allinformationincludingexternaltemperature,humidity,windspeed,winddirection,
precipitationandtheUVindexaredisplayedontheweatherstation,iftheweather
stationandexternalsensorarewithintheeectivetransmissionrange.
To obtain a good RF signal try to turn the wind turbine and change the alignment
ofthewindvaneontheexternalsensor,whereuponthewindspeedanddirection
shouldbeupdatedwithin2minutes.TheRFsignalisstilltooweakifanupdatedoes
notappeareachminuteonthedisplay.ToobtainagoodRGreceptionsignalreduce
thetransmissionrangeandrepeatthetestingofthetransmissionrangeasdescribed
above,untileachminuteoftheupdateappearsontheweatherstation.
• Removeallbatteriesfromtheexternalsensoraftertestingtheeectivetransmission
range.Inadditionremoveallbatteriesfromtheweatherstationanddisconnectthe
powersupplyfromthemainunit.
c) Installation and calibration
• Aftertestingtheeectivetransmissionrangeyoucaninstalltheexternalsensorat
thepointselectedbyyou.Forthisyourequireamastwithadiameterofapproximately
25-30mm(notsupplied)whichstandssteadilyandvertically.
• PositiontheU-shapemetalplatesatthemast.Insertthefourhexagonboltsthrough
the holes in the metal plates and the holes in the mounting plate of the outdoor
sensor.Securetheinstallationusingthenutsprovided.
After attachment check whether the external sensor is aligned horizontally so that
precisemeasurementsofthewindspeedanddirectionaswellastherainfallandthe
UV index are guaranteed.
• Youcanalsoattachtheexternalsensortoawallusingscrewsandplugs.
• Beforescrewinginascrewforthewallmountingordrillingaholeforaplug,you
shouldestablishwhetheritispossiblefortheweatherstationtoperfectlyreceive
radio data from the external sensor.

• Openthebatterycompartmentoftheexternalsensorandinsert4AAbatteriesinto
thebatterycompartmentwiththecorrectpolarity(pleasenoteplus/+andminus/-).
Closethebatterycompartmentandtightenthescrews.
• Connect the power supply to the rear of the weather station. Open the battery
compartment and insert 3 AA batteries with the correct polarity into the battery
compartment(pleasenoteplus/+andminus/-).Closethebatterycompartment.
• The weather forecast indicator appears ashing in the display (15). Press
the + or - button to select the current weather conditions as start settings of the
weather forecast. Press the Clock/Setbutton(13)toconrmtheentry.
• Thesymbolfortheexternalsensorashesinthedisplay.Thedeviceisinsearch
mode. (If the symbol stops ashing you can keep the Search button (12) on the
weatherstationpresseddownfor3secondstostarttheRFsearch)
• Whiletheweatherstationisstillinsearchmode,gototheexternalsensorandpoint
thewindvanetothenorth.AfterwardspresstheTransmit button (19) at the base
ofthedeviceonce to send RFsignalstothe weather station for registrationand
calibration.(theLEDashesonreceipt5times).

• AssoonastheRFreceptionissuccessful,theexternaltemperatureandhumidityas
wellasrainfall,windspeed/directionandUVindexareshowninthedisplay.
PLEASE NOTE: A calibration and registration is not necessary again after
inserting the batteries or during a power failure in the external sensor or
weather station.
10. Installing the weather station
• Theweatherstationcanbeinstalledoverthestand(10)atanappropriateposition.
Thismustbehorizontal,sucientlylarge,stableandlevelandoutofthereachof
children.

11. Inserting / replacing batteries
The weather station and external sensor can be powered with batteries.
However,theoperating timeanddisplaycontrastwill decreasedueto the
decreased voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery = 1.2 V). Since
batteriesareverysensitivetocold,theoperationaldurationoftheexternal
sensor is greatly reduced in winter.
Therefore we recommend you power the weather station as well as the
external sensor with high grade alkaline batteries to guarantee long and safe
functioning.
Theweatherstationcanalsobepoweredviathepowersupplyinthedeliveryscope.
Informationaboutthisisavailableinthenextchapter.
a) General
Please note:
First insert the batteries into the external sensor, then into the weather station.
Ifyouproceedinanothersequencetheweatherstationmaynotrecognize
the external sensor. In this case a manual search for the external sensor can
be carried out later.
Ifyouwanttotesttheweatherstationandexternalsensoroninitialstartup
e.g.inaroom,donotplacetheexternalsensordirectlynexttotheweatherstation.
Otherwiseradiointerferenceofthetoostrongersignalcanleadtoreceptionproblems.
Keepadistanceofatleast1mbetweentheweatherstationandtheexternalsensor.
Thisfunctionstestensuresthatlaterreceptionproblems(afterinstallation)aredueto
the arrangement of the weather station and external sensor.
The range between the external sensor and the weather station amounts to 100 m.
Pleasealsonotechapter14.
b) External sensor
• Openthebatterycompartment(20)underneaththeexternalsensorwhileunscrewing
thescrewswithasmallPhillips-tipscrewdriverandinsert4AAbatteriesintothe
batterycompartmenttothecorrectpolarity(pleasenoteplus/+andminus/-).Close
thebatterycompartmentandtightenthescrews.

c) Weather station
• Open the battery compartment (9), while sliding the battery compartment cover
downwardsandinsert3AAbatteriestothecorrectpolarity(pleasenoteplus/+and
minus/-).
• Putthebatterycompartmentcoverbackon.
12. Power supply operation of the weather station
• Connectthepowersupplyprovidedtoasuitablesocketandinsertanoutputpluginto
the connection socket (8) at the side of the weather station.
13. Start-up and operation
a) Radio clock
• Themaindeviceshouldstartthesynchronizationoftheradioclockafterinsertingthe
batteries/connectingtheadapter.Theantennasymbolashesinthedisplayduring
synchronization (15).
• IftheDCFsignalis successfullyreceived,theantennasymbol
appearswith
full signal strength on the screen. The radio clock is synchronized daily to 02:30 and
03:30.
• Eachreceptioncyclelasts2,5to10minutes.
