Q. Can you demonstrate K1 lens distortion?
A:
This is an example of Removu K1's lens
distortion.
This is an example of GoPro HERO4's lens
distortion
In all wide-angle lenses, there is a distortion that bends the image, creating a fish-eye effect.
This is called Barrel Distortion. DSLR, Mirrorless and camera for broadcasting do not have
Barrel Distortion but most action cameras do.
REMOVU K1 is designed without barrel distortion because K1 has a narrower field of
view than action cameras. However, K1 has a wider field of view than smartphone.
Normally, lens with a wider view have more Barrel Distortion. For the K1, we tried to reduce
this distortion. As a result, when a subject is in the exterior view of the image, it will
appear to be larger than normal. Also, if the camera is rotated at high speeds, you will
notice blending in the image as the camera moves. This is not an issue for subjects that are
further from the camera. This issue can be resolved by switching to narrower field of view
(FOV).
Q. After using the gimbal several times, the horizontal axis seems a little off. What am I
supposed to do?
A: You need to occasionally calibrate the gimbal. Please perform an Auto Calibration. If the
calibration fails after several attempts to resolve the issue, please contact support.
