This product has been made to the highest standards of
quality, functionality and design. We hope that it will give
you many years of satisfaction.
The Braun time control digital is set and controlled
automatically by the long wave radio signal of the German
time transmitter DCF 77 (Central European Time). The
transmitter is situated at Mainflingen, 24 km south of
Frankfurt/Main.
It uses as time source the caesium atomic clock of the
Federal Physical Technical Institute in Brunswick.
The radio signal can be received within a minimum radius
of 1000 km of the transmitter depending on the position of
the clock and the local conditions. Interference can occur
as with any radio receiver, f. ex. caused by external factors
such as TV sets, computers or radios, or by metal paneling
in or on buildings (see separate paragraph «Interference»).
Do not expose to temperatures over 50 °C or below 0 °C.
Setting into operation
Before use, carefully remove the protective foil from the
display.
This appliance operates with two AA 1.5 V batteries. For
best performance, use an alkaline manganese batteries
(type LR 6, MN 1500, AM 3, AA, e.g. Duracell).
Do not use rechargeable batteries, since their voltage level
is too low.
To open the battery compartment, press on the lid closure
(5) and lift it.
Make sure the poles of the batteries are properly inserted.
To close the lid, insert it and press until it engages.
Used batteries should not be disposed of with the
household waste. Please dispose of them at special
collection points or return them to your retailer.
Reception
After inserting the batteries, the clock starts reception. The
display (1) shows «00:00», the reception symbol (1a) and
the seconds. After a successful reception, the actual time
is displayed in the first line, the date in the second line and
the actual day of the week is circled in the bottom line.
A time check is carried out every 12 hours (2:00 h and
14:00 h): The time is compared with the radio signal and
will be corrected, if necessary.
If signal reception should not be possible at this point in
time, the clock continues to run on its quartz mechanism.

Interference
Should initial reception fail, the reception symbol changes
to a flashing, empty circle. In this case, move the clock to
another position where reception is better.
If the clock is not being set automatically (no reception), it
can be set manually.
Should contact to the radio signal be restored, the time will
automatically be adjusted according to the signal received.
Manual time / date setting
In the case of no reception during 10 minutes or if you wish
to set the time before reception, set the time manually
using the button pad (2) .
1. Press the «set» button to switch to the set mode.
If reception failed, the clock switches automatically to
the set mode and the first digit of the time line flashes.
2. Enter the time digit by digit – as they are flashing – using
the number buttons. Senseless input is not accepted.
The digit to be entered keeps on flashing.
To correct / clear the input, press the «set» button and
start with the first flashing digit again.
3. After time has been entered completely, press the
«enter» button to confirm.
4. The second display line changes to «date» and you can
enter the date manually: Enter the date (DD.MM.) digit
by digit as they are flashing.
After the last digit of the date is entered, set the day of
week:
On default, Monday «Mo» is flashing. Press the button
for the actual day and the corresponding day in the
lower display line is circled. Press the «enter» button to
quit the set mode. By doing so, the time entered is
saved as internal time and seconds are set to 00.
With the next valid reception of the time signal, the time will
be adjusted automatically.
Quartz mode
The clock may also be switched to the quartz mode
(no more time signal reception). Press the «set» and «enter»
buttons simultaneously for a minimum of 3 seconds.
Time and date can be set as described above. In quartz
mode, the display does not show the symbol for failed
reception.
In order re-activate the radio control feature, reset the
clock by removing and inserting the batteries again.
Display functions
Using the time/date/temp button (•••), you can toggle the
lower display line between seconds, date (DD.MM.) and
temperature in °C.
Alarm functions
You can set two alarm times with different alarm tones.

alarm 1 or alarm 2.

indicate which days are selected. Default setting is Mo-Fr.

quit the set mode. After setting the alarm time, the alarm is
automatically switched on.

alarm. The alarm symbols 1 or/and 2 are shown to
confirm that the corresponding alarm is active.

ght function
When pressing the «snooze/light» key (3), the display is
illuminated for 8 seconds. Pressing the snooze/light key
while an alarm signal is given, will interrupt it for
8 minutes.
24 h alarm off button
Press the «alarm off 24 h» key (4) to switch off the alarm
signal for the next 24 hours. This key is active 3 hours
before alarm time.
Changing the time zone
After a successful reception, the time zone offset can be
set manually.
Press the time/date/temp button to switch the lower
display line to seconds.
Press «set» to enter the set mode. While the set mode is
active, the time zone symbol (1b) is flashing on the display.
The first digit of the time line flashes. In time zone mode,
only hours can be changed, not minutes, nor seconds.
Enter the new hour digits, the press «enter» to quit the set
mode.
The time entered is saved as new internal time. In order to
also change date or day of week, proceed as described
above.
A valid time signal reception synchronizes the time
considering the time zone offset.
With a time zone difference of more than two hours, the
clock will not carry out daily reception attempts and
continues running on quartz mode.
Battery voltage control
If the battery is running low, the battery low symbol (1c)
flashes on the display, the light function is blocked and the
clock generates an error signal whenever an alarm is
activated. For a reliable alarm function, insert new
batteries.
Subject to change without notice.
