Initial Drive
Information
This section provides a brief
overview about some of the
important features that may or may
not be on your specific vehicle.
For more detailed information, refer
to each of the features which can be
found later in this owner manual.
Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) System
The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter will work up to 65 feet
(20 m) away from the vehicle.
On vehicles with remote start the
distance will be greater.
Press K to unlock the driver door or
all doors.
Press
Q to lock all doors.
Lock and unlock feedback can be
personalized.
Press and hold
V to open the
trunk.
Press and release
7 to locate the
vehicle.
Press and hold
7 for more than
two seconds to sound the panic
alarm.
Press
7 again to cancel the panic
alarm.
Press the button to extend the key.
The key can be used for all locks.
This key is also used for the
ignition, if the vehicle does not have
push-button start

Remote Vehicle Start
With this feature the engine can be
started from outside of the vehicle.
Starting the Vehicle
1. Aim the remote keyless entry
transmitter at the vehicle.
2. Press
Q.
3. Immediately after completing
Step 2, press and hold
/ until
the turn signal lamps flash.

When the vehicle starts, the parking
lamps will turn on and remain on
as long as the engine is running.
The doors will be locked and the
climate control system may
come on.
The engine will continue to run for
10 minutes. Repeat the steps for a
10-minute time extension. Remote
start can be extended only once.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start:

Aim the RKE transmitter at the
vehicle and press and hold
/
until the parking lamps turn off.
.
Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
.
Turn the vehicle on and then off.

Door Locks
To lock or unlock a door manually:
.
From the inside, pull once on the
door handle to unlock it, and a
second time to open it.

From the outside turn the key
toward the front or rear of the
vehicle, or press the
Q or K
button on the Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE) transmitter. See

Power Door Locks
On vehicles with power door locks,
the controls are located on the
center of the instrument panel.
K : Press to unlock the doors.

Trunk Release
The trunk may be opened by
pressing
V on the Remote
Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter or
the trunk release button located on
the rear of the trunk above the
license plate. See Trunk

Windows
On vehicles with power windows,
the switches are on the driver door
armrest. Each passenger door has
a switch that controls only that
window.
Press the switch to lower the
window. Pull the switch up to
raise it.

Seat Adjustment
Manual Seats
To adjust the seat:
1. Pull the handle under the seat to
unlock it.
2. Slide the seat to the desired
position and release the handle.
3. Try to move the seat back and
forth to be sure it is locked in
place.
To raise or recline the seatback, use
the lever on the outboard side of the
seat. See Reclining Seatbacks
on
page 37
.
Power Seats
To adjust the seat:
.
Move the seat forward or
rearward by moving the
horizontal control forward or
rearward.
.
Raise or lower the front part of
the seat cushion by moving the
front of the horizontal control up
or down.
.
Raise or lower the rear part of
the seat cushion by moving the
rear of the horizontal control up
or down.
.
Raise or lower the entire seat by
moving the control up or down.

Reclining the Seatback
To raise or recline the seatback,
tilt the top of the vertical control
forward or rearward. See Reclining

Lumbar Adjustment
To adjust the lumbar support:

Press and hold the front or rear
of the control to increase or
decrease lumbar support.

Press and hold the top or bottom
of the control to raise or lower
lumbar support.

Memory Features
On vehicles with the memory
feature, the controls on the outboard
side of the driver seat are used to
save and recall memory settings for
the driver seat and outside mirrors.
Storing Memory Positions
To save into memory:
1. Adjust the driver seat and
seatback recliner and both
outside mirrors to the desired
driving positions.
2. Press and release
MEM (Memory).
3. Press 1 until a beep sounds.
4. Repeat for a second driver
using 2.
To recall the memory positions,
press and hold 1 or 2. The driver
seat and outside mirrors move to
the stored positions. Releasing
1 or 2 before the stored position
is reached stops the recall.

Easy Exit Driver Seat
The easy exit driver seat feature
can move the seat rearward to allow
extra room to exit the vehicle.
To activate the easy exit driver seat,
turn the ignition in off and open the
driver door. If the driver door is
already open, turning the ignition off
will activate the easy exit
driver seat.
Easy exit driver seat can be turned
on or off using the vehicle
personalization menu. See Driver

Heated Seats
On vehicles with this feature, the
buttons are near the climate
controls. To operate the heated
seats the ignition must be on.

L to heat the seat cushion
and seatback.

Seats
On vehicles with this feature, the
controls are on the climate control
panel. To operate the heated and
ventilated seats the engine must be
running.

Head Restraint
Adjustment
Do not drive until the head restraints
for all occupants are installed and
adjusted properly.
To achieve a comfortable seating
position, change the seatback
recline angle as little as necessary
while keeping the seat and the head
restraint height in the proper
position.

Sensing System for
Passenger Airbag
The passenger sensing system will
turn off the right front passenger
frontal airbag under certain
conditions. The driver airbags,
seatmounted side impact airbags,
and roofrail airbags are not affected
by the passenger sensing system.

indicator will be visible on the
instrument panel when the vehicle is

Mirror Adjustment
Exterior
To adjust the mirrors:
1. Turn the control knob to the
L (left) or R (right) selecting the
driver or passenger mirror.
2. Push the control knob to the left,
right, up, or down to adjust the
mirror.
Vehicles with the memory feature
can store a preferred mirror position.

Manual Foldaway Mirrors
Vehicles with manual folded mirrors
are folded inward to prevent
damage when going through an
automatic car wash. To fold, pull the
mirror toward the vehicle. Push the
mirror outward, to return it to the
original position.
Automatic Dimming Feature
The driver outside mirror
automatically adjusts for the glare
of the headlamps behind you.

Interior
Adjust this mirror for a clear view of
the area behind the vehicle. Hold
the mirror in the center to move it
up, down, or side-to-side. To reduce
headlamp glare during night-time
use, move the lever at the bottom of
the mirror to the right.

the bottom of the mirror. See your

Steering Wheel
Adjustment
To adjust the steering wheel:
1. Pull the lever (A) down.
2. Move the steering wheel up
or down.
3. Pull or push the steering wheel
closer or away from you.
4. Pull the lever (A) up to lock the
steering wheel in place.
Do not adjust the steering wheel
while driving.
Interior Lighting
Dome Lamps
The interior lamps control located in
the overhead console controls both
the front and rear interior lamps.
To operate, press the following
buttons:
* : Turns the lamps off.
1 : Turns the lamps on when any
door is opened.
+ : Keeps the lamps on all
the time.
Reading Lamps
There are front and rear reading
lamps.
The front reading lamps are located
in the overhead console.
# $ : Press to turn each lamp on
or off.
The rear reading lamps are located
in the headliner.

Exterior Lighting
The exterior lamp control is located
on the instrument panel on the
outboard side of the steering wheel.
Turn the control to the following
positions:
O : Turns off the exterior lamps.
The knob returns to the AUTO
position after it is released. Turn to
off again to reactivate the
AUTO mode.
AUTO : Automatically turns the
exterior lamps on and off,
depending on outside lighting.
The current status of the AUTO
system is displayed in the Driver
Information Center (DIC) uplevel
display. See Driver Information
Center (DIC) on page 523.
; : Turns on the parking lamps,
together with the sidemarker lamps,
taillamps, license plate lamps and
instrument panel lights.
2 : Turns on the headlamps,
together with the parking lamps,

The windshield wiper lever is on the
side of the steering column. With
the ignition in ACC/ACCESSORY or
ON/RUN, move the windshield
wiper lever to select the wiper
speed.
2: Fast wipes.

& : Turn the band up for more
frequent wipes or down for less
frequent wipes.
