If you do not have a USB 3.1/3.0 interface on your computer (e.g., on the motherboard or on a USB card),
you can also connect the USB hub to a USB 2.0/1.1 port. For this, however, you will need a suitable adapter
(not included in delivery), as the USB hub is tted with a USB Type-C
TM
input. Devices connected this way
to the USB hub will only work at a reduced speed.
The USB hub will operate in so-called “Bus Powered Mode”. This means that the current (in accordance with
regulations up to 900 mA for USB 3.1/3.0 and up to 500 mA for USB 2.0), supplied by the computer via the
USB, is distributed to the four ports.
This is sufcient for most mice or keyboards, but many other devices cannot work correctly (e.g.,
external 6.35 cm/2.5“ hard disks, USB cameras etc.).
Windows recognises the new hardware and automatically installs the drivers from the operating system.
Now connect your USB devices to the USB hub.
Tips & hints
• The USB hub works according to USB 3.1 Gen 1 (equivalent to USB 3.0). It is compatible with USB 2.0/1.1.
This means that USB 3.0/2.0-1.1 devices can be operated on the USB hub without any problem.
• In order to take advantage of the high speed provided by USB 3.1 Gen 1 (equivalent to USB 3.0), all the
devices must support USB 3.1/3.0: The USB device itself (e.g., an external hard disk), the USB hub and
the USB controller in the computer.
• The theoretical max. speed of the USB interface is not reached in practice. This is due to protocol informa-
tion, simultaneous operation of several USB devices or the speed limit of the connected device or the USB
controllers/ motherboards.
• USB operation is not possible in DOS or in the protected mode of Windows. Depending on the computer or
the BIOS/Set-up, however, operation of a USB keyboard and a USB mouse is possible. Nevertheless, it is
necessary to connect them directly to the computer‘s USB interface and not to the USB hub.
• USB devices can be connected and disconnected during operation. You do not have to switch off your
computer if you want to insert or remove devices. If data transfers are in progress on the USB port, e.g.,
if an external disk is writing data to the computer, and you unplug the USB plug, the operating system
might crash. Furthermore, this may result in loss of data or damage to the le system of the external drive.
• For some USB devices (e.g., USB hard disk), Windows displays an icon with an arrow in the menu bar.
This function allows you to “separate” the USB from the computer. Afterwards, the USB device can be
unplugged safely.
• Please note that the data transfer rate may decrease if the USB cables are very long.
Care and cleaning
• Disconnect the product from the mains supply before each cleaning procedure.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these could dam-
age the casing or even impair operation.
• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.
• Never submerge the product in water.

Getting started
Ensure that the total current consumption of all connected USB devices does not exceed
900 mA (when connected to a USB 3.1/3.0 port on a computer) or. 500 mA (when connected to
a USB 2.0 port on a computer).
Where required, connect an optional power supply (see “Technical data”) to the round jack on
the side of the USB hub in order to provide a higher output current.
Connect the USB hub, via its USB cable, to a free USB port on your computer. The computer does not need
to be switched off for this.
