Renkforce RS422 is a galvanically isolated RS422/RS485 signal converter. It can be used to connect two RS422/RS485 devices that are not electrically isolated from each other. The device can also be used to extend the range of an RS422/RS485 network. The Renkforce RS422 is powered by a 9-40 V/DC power supply and has a maximum transmission distance of 5000 m (9.6 - 115.2 kbps). The device has a 2500 Vrms isolation voltage and an ESD protection of ±15 kV. The Renkforce RS422 is housed in a compact case and has a weight of 115 g.

Intended use

This product is used for the electrically isolated connection of RS422/RS485 signal paths as

wellasforsignalamplication.Theproductthuspreventsbalancingcurrents,whichmaybe

present in the signal paths due to different potentials.

Individual connection terminals are used to connect the RS422/RS485 signal paths as well as

the voltage/power supply.

Forsafetyandcompliancereasons,theproductmustnotbeconvertedormodiedinanyway.

If you use the product for other purposes than those described above, the product may be dam-

aged.Moreover,improperuseinvolvesriskssuchasshort-circuits,re,electricshocks,etc.

Assembly

Attach the supplied bracket to the back of the adapter; Use the two screws

located in the casing. Now you can clamp the holder onto a suitable DIN rail.

Troubleshooting tips

When there is no connection between the signal links, check:

• Voltage/power supply (“PWR” LED must be on)

• Correct allocation of the signals to the connections (input/output)

• Wiring inside the connection terminals (are all wires properly stripped?)

• Flashing/illumination of the “RXD” reception LED

• Flashing/illumination of the “RXD” transmission LED

• Settings of the data rate or the send/receive format

• The cable used, how the cable is installed and other conditions have great impact on long

transmission distances.

Care and cleaning

• Disconnect the product from the mains supply before each cleaning procedure.

• Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.

• Never use abrasive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these

could damage the casing or even impair operation.

Disposal

Electronic devices are recyclable materials and do not belong in the household waste.

Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
