Wiring
1. Ensure on-board speaker is plugged into the ‘SPK’ connector
2. Ensure jumper is plugged into the ‘SPX’ connector. (Note – this jumper is removed when an On-Car Extension (OCX) is
used. Please note that the G3X unit will work as a stand alone device, or with one OCX connected.
3. Connect emergency button to the ‘BUT’ connector. (Note – Button has to be N/O)
4. Connect phone line to the ‘TEL’ connector.
5. For programming, connect 9V alkaline battery to battery clips. (Note - The G3X is powered from the telephone line and
works without a battery. The battery provided is intended for use only during the programming of the unit and should
be disconnected from the unit after programming has been completed.)

Quick Programming Guide
Programming commands can be performed in any order,
and after each command entry you should hear 3 beeps.
(Note that < and > are not on the keypad and are used
here only for the separation of eld parameters).
A pause can be inserted into the telephone number by
adding # in the appropriate place.
A number can be deleted by omission, e.g. # 0 * #.

Mounting Instructions
Important Notes
1. To reduce or eliminate any possible interference, it is highly recommended that the wiring used inside the traveling
cable for the incoming phone line be a 20-22 AWG (0.35 to 0.50 mm2) twisted shielded pair with the shield grounded
at the elevator controller end only. Any terminations or splices between the elevator controller and the elevator phone
should have the shield carried through the termination of splice and not grounded at that point.
2. Filter inputs (‘In1’, ’In2’) can be used to prevent hoax calls (e.g. when the doors are open). Filter inputs are optically
isolated. They are active with a 5-32V DC or 24V AC voltage and inactive when the voltage is less than 2VDC. For DC
voltages the inputs are polarity sensitive. The active state current is 1-10mA.
3. The telephone line provided must be a touch-tone line.
4. The shield should be connected to the building earth at one end (and one end only); The shield should not be
connected to other wires inside the cable;
5. The building earth can sometimes cause noise on the G3X during calls. In this case, the battery negative can be used
instead.
6. All cable slack should be loosely looped on top or underneath car and not in COP.
7. Where possible avoid running any cables close to other cables (especially mains or high-voltage cables)
Testing the Installation
In the Call Centre:
1. Answer the call and listen to the voice prompt (if enabled). If voice prompt is
not enabled, operator will be in direct contact with the cabin.
2. At the tone, press 2 to hear the location message.
3. Press 0 to turn on LED2.
4. Check voice communication with the lift car.
5. Press *# to end the call.
In the Lift:
Press and hold the emergency
button for 3 seconds. G3X will dial
the emergency number.
1. The G3X is usually mounted in the
car operating panel. Use Fig. 1 as a
drilling guide.
2. Mount the green and yellow LEDs
in the Car Operating Panel (COP).
