ZyXEL Communications G-405

Procedure to View a Product’s Certification(s)

2. Select your product from the drop-down list box on the ZyXEL home page
to go to that product's page.

1. Installation Requirements
Before installation, make sure you have the following requirements.
A computer with an RJ-45 Ethernet port and a CD-ROM drive
Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP (for the ZyAIR Wireless Navigator)
2. Rear Panel and Port Connections
The antenna connector is located on the rear panel of the ZyAIR. Screw the antenna
clockwise onto the antenna connector. Make sure the antenna is securely screwed
onto the antenna connector.

LABEL DESCRIPTION
RESET You only need to use this button if you’ve forgotten the
ZyAIR’s password or the IP address is not known. It
returns the ZyAIR to the factory defaults. Refer to the
User’s Guide.
LAN Use an Ethernet cable to connect to a computer (with an
Ethernet card) or Ethernet device. The port is auto-
negotiating (can connect at 10 or 100 Mbps) and auto-
crossover (automatically adjusts to the type of Ethernet
cable you use (straight-through or crossover)).
DC-IN Connect one end of the included power adaptor to this
power socket.
Use only the included power

3. Check the LED Display
After you make the hardware connections, check the LEDs on the ZyAIR.
LED COLOR STATUS DESCRIPTION
PWR Green On The ZyAIR is receiving power.
Blinking The ZyAIR is rebooting or not ready.
Orange On Power to the ZyAIR is too low or there is a hardware failure.
Off The ZyAIR is not receiving power.

LED COLOR STATUS DESCRIPTION
LAN Green On The ZyAIR has a successful Ethernet connection.
Blinking The LAN port is sending/receiving data.
Off The ZyAIR does not have an Ethernet connection.
WLAN Green On The ZyAIR is connected to a WLAN device.
Blinking The WLAN port is sending/receiving data.
Off The ZyAIR is not connected to a WLAN device.
4. ZyAIR Wireless Navigator Installation
The ZyAIR Wireless Navigator allows you to locate and configure the ZyAIR from
any computer on the network. The installation procedures are similar for all
supported Microsoft Windows versions.
1. After you have made the hardware connections. Insert the installation CD
into your computer and run setup.exe in the Installation CD.
2. Specify a username and/or your company name and click Next.
3. Click Next to accept the default file location or click Browse to select an
alternate folder.
4. Accept the default or specify the program folder in which the ZyAIR
Navigator resides. Click Next.
5. Restart your computer when prompted and click Finish.
Refer to the User’s Guide to configure the ZyAIR.

Troubleshooting
PROBLEM CORRECTIVE ACTION
The PWR LED is
off/orange.
Make sure you are using only the supplied power adaptor and
the power adaptor is plugged into an appropriate power supply.
Unplug the power adaptor and plug it in again. If the error
persists, you may have a hardware problem. In this case, you
should contact your vendor.
The LAN LED is
off.
Check the cable connection to the ZyAIR’s LAN port.
Make sure your computer’s network card is working properly.
