VALOR WINTER CHECKLIST
With any fuel burning replace or space heating device, safe operation depends on your
product knowledge and awareness of safe operating practices. Special precautions
are necessary when small children are present.
In support of the Hearth Patio & Barbecue Association’s consumer awareness campaign -
safereplacetips.com - we are sending this Safety Checklist to all of our registered Valor
replace owners. Please take the time to review all safety procedures with your family and guests.
• Maintain Your Fireplace. Your owner’s manual includes instructions
on routine maintenance such as glass cleaning and replacement of
batteries in your remote receiver and handset. Scheduling a regular
maintenance check with your dealer helps to ensure safe and
efcient use as well as maximizing the service life of your replace.
• Please Read Your Owners Manual and follow
all instructions and warnings. Ensure that all
replace users are aware of all features of the
control system. Replacement manuals may be
ordered through your dealer, or by visiting
valorreplaces.com and clicking the ‘downloads’
link. Your replace model number is located on
the manufacturers plate near the control valve.
• Fireplace Surfaces, in particular the glass viewing window, are extremely hot during operation
(over 500°F at full capacity) and will remain hot for a period of time after the replace is turned off.
Contact with the hot glass can cause severe burns. Close adult supervision is required if there are
young children, or at-risk individuals in the house. A physical barrier is strongly recommended.
Install an approved aftermarket safety gate to keep toddlers, young children and at-risk individuals
a safe distance from the replace. For more information please visit valorreplaces.com/safety.
HOME SAFETY TIPSRELIABLE & EFFICIENT HEAT FIREPLACE MAINTENANCE
• No Power, No Problem. Valor Gas Fireplaces are fully functional
heaters that don’t require electricity (AC) for steady, efcient operation
- providing reliable warmth, even during a power failure.
• Overheating Empty Rooms Just Doesn’t Make Sense. Heating your entire home with a
central forced air system is often inefcient. Constantly pumping heat through unoccupied
rooms wastes valuable energy. With your Valor, you distribute steady, even heat directly where
you want it - when you want it. Studies have shown that effective zone heating can save you
up to 30% on home heating costs. Turn down your furnace and heat wisely with your Valor.
• Thank You for taking the time to familiarize yourself with the Valor
winter checklist. Warming homes since 1890, we take great pride in
providing a safe, reliable heat source for you and your loved ones.
If you have any further questions please visit valorreplaces.com.
• Valor Fireplaces are Known for Producing Radiant Heat. Satisfying
human comfort with up to 25% less energy than warm air systems,
radiant heat replaces the chill lost to cold windows and walls. Reduce
your energy bill and increase your home comfort with Valor radiant heat.
• Valor Fireplace Screen Accessories. If your Valor replace is not
equipped with a re screen or screen door, a suitable accessory
screen may be ordered through your local Valor dealer. To nd a
Valor dealer please visit valorreplaces.com/contact.
• Maintain a Safe Clearance From Hot Surfaces. Keep furniture,
draperies and other objects at least 36” clear from the front of the
replace. Never sit directly adjacent to the hot glass, or allow clothing
or other material to come in contact with replace surfaces.
• Keep the Remote Control Handset out of Reach of Children at all Times.
A wall mount storage holster was included with your remote control package.
Removing the battery from the handset or receiver will disable your remote.
