If you load any print media other than plain letter or A4 paper •
into any source, make sure you change the PAPER TYPE and
PAPER SIZE settings for that source.
When you load the tray, do not exceed the maximum stack •
height indicated by the label in the tray. Overfilling the tray may
cause jams. This applies to all printer trays, drawers and feeders.
Before loading print media into any source, flex the sheets back •
and forth to loosen them and then fan them.
Do not fold or crease the print media.•
Straighten the edges of the stack on a level surface.•
Complete these instructions to load print media into any of the •

If the MFP jams, an error message will be displayed on the print status message bar.1.
See 2. page 11 for an overview of areas where scanner jams may occur. See the diagram on
page 12 for an overview of the paper path and areas where printer paper jams may occur.
By carefully selecting print media and loading it properly, you should be able to avoid most •
paper jams. For more information on avoiding paper jams, see Tips for Loading Paper (p. 8).
If jams do occur, follow the steps outlined in this section.
To resolve the paper jam messages, you must clear the entire paper path and then touch •
CONTINUE to clear the message and resume printing. The MFP prints a new copy of the
page that jammed if Jam Recovery is set to ON or AUTO; however, the auto setting does not
guarantee the page will print.

Regular cleaning is important because it maximizes the lifespan of the scanner, reduces 1.
problems with scanning benchmark bubble sheets and reduces debris that can get trapped
in the equipment.
Cleaning is recommended at regular intervals, preferably once per week. The minimum 2.
cleaning interval should be once per month, whenever streaking shows up on scanned
documents.
Frequent types of debris include tiny eraser pieces, correction fluid and dust.3.
