Setting up the All-In-One with
equipment
You can also connect your All-In-One with equipment, such as a
telephone, an answering machine, or a computer modem. If problems
occur, see Setup troubleshooting.
Note: The Lexmark TM 7100 Series All-In-One is an analog
device that works best when directly connected to the wall
jack. Other devices (such as a telephone or answering
machine) can be successfully attached to pass through the All-
In-One, as described in the setup steps. If you want a digital
connection such as ISDN, DSL, or ADSL, a third-party device
is required.

You can use the All-In-One to do a variety of things. A few important
things to note:
If your All-In-One is attached to a computer, you can use either
the All-In-One control panel or the All-In-One software to
produce quality documents quickly.
You do need to attach your All-In-One to a computer to scan.
You do need to attach your All-In-One to a computer to print
documents from your programs.
You do not need to attach your All-In-One to a computer to make
photocopies.
You do not need to attach your All-In-One to a computer to send
and receive faxes.
Note: The All-In-One must be connected to a telephone line
for faxing to function (attached to a computer or unattached).
You can connect your All-In-One to other equipment. For help, see
the instructions for the equipment you want to connect to the All-In-
One.

Using a PictBridge-enabled digital
camera
You can connect a PictBridge-enabted digital camera to your All-In-
One and use the buttons on the camera to select and print your
photos.
1, Insert one end of the USB cable that came with your PictBridge-
enabled digital camera into the PictBridge port on the front of the
All-In-One.

The Lexmark 7100 Series All-In-One is a color scanner, color copier, color printer, and color
fax machine.
Note: You do not have to attach your All-In-One to your computer to make copies
or send and receive faxes.
The tables following each graphic describe the parts of the All-In-One.

size documents.
Load original documents in the All-In-One.
Recommended for scanning, copying, or faxing
multiple page documents.
Pick up your original document after it has gone
through the ADF.
Access the scanner glass. Lift top cover to place or
remove items on the scanner glass.
Note = Scanner glass recommended for card stock,
)hotos, delicate, or unusually sized originals that
cannot be fed through the ADF.
Connect your PictBridge compatible digital camera to
the All-In-One.
Stack paper as it exits the All-In-One.
Load a single envelope or card.
Load paper into the All-In-One.
Access the print cartridges.
Operate your All-In-One (attached or unattached to
a computer). For more information, see Using the
control panel.

Supply power to the All-In-One.
Remove paper jams.
Connect your All-In-One to a computer.
Connect your All-In-One to an active telephone line to send and
receive faxes. Your All-In-One must be connected to this
telephone line to receive incoming fax calls.
Note: Do not connect additional devices to the wall jack
connector and do not connect a DSL (digital subscriber line),
ISDN (integrated services digital network), or cable modem to the
All-In-One without a proper third party device, such as a DSL
filter.
Remove the plug to connect additional devices, such as a
computer, telephone, or answering machine to your All-In-One.

UnderstandingtheAll-In-One
The control panel buttons help you scan, copy, fax, and customize documents. When Power
is lit, the All-In-One is on. You can select a mode from the Mode area, select or change
settings using several of the buttons, and initiate a scan, copy, or fax from the Start buttons
on the far right.
