District heating substation for direct heating for
single-family, semi-detached and terraced hous-
es as well as flats. With one heating circuit and in-
stantaneous water heater for domestic hot water
heating. Designed for wall mounting.
Description
General PLEASE NOTE that other variants may be supplied.
The control function, however, is basically as de-
scribed below. Please always observe the enclosed
producer instructions for the mounted controller.
Heating circuit
Temperature control
The required room temperature is controlled by
radiator thermostats (fixed setting throughout the
year).
It is recommended that all radiators are opened a
little in each room.
The differential pressure controller reduces the
fluctuating pressure in the district heating net-
work to a small and invariable operating pres
sure
in the substation and thereby ensures the best
possible operating conditions for radiator thermo-
stats, which enables individual control of the room
temperature.
The differential pressure controller is preset from
factory and should not be adjusted afterwards
Differential pressure
controller
Return temperature limiter Return temperature limiters are used to limit the
return temperature of radiators.
The return temperature limiter FJVR is a self-act-
ing P-band regulator, which regulates according
to the temperature of the heating medium.
The FJVR includes a thermostatic element and a
valve body. Once the set temperature is exceeded,
the valve shuts down and re-opens only when the
temperature has dropped below the set value.
The return temperature limiter should be set to
the required maximum return temperature, in
compliance with the local demands.
Approximate thermostat scale setting:
I = 10° C
1 = 20 °C
2 = 30 °C
3 = 40 °C
4 = 45 °C
I = 50 °C (max. temperature)
To ensure sufficient cooling and proper operation
the HE return temperature must be lower than
the temperature set on the flow controller.

Instructions Akva Lux II TDP-F / Akva Vita II TDP-F
Option
Electronic programmable
room thermostat
The Akva Lux II TDP-F flat station can be equipped
with a zone valve, and thereby the substation can
be supplied with an electronic programmable
room thermostat.
In this case temperature is controlled by the room
thermostat and radiator thermostats. Please note
that the room thermostat keeps the temperature
at a constant level in the whole apartment accor-
ding to the set room parameters.
Consult additional maintenance instructions for-
room thermostat for further information. It is re-
commended to avoid fully opened thermostats
on some radiators and fully shut-off on others.
Higher temperature at the top and lower tempe-
rature at the bottom part of radiators means that
the system operation is correct. To keep correct
temperature and friendly microclimate for human
beings in the apartment, it is recommended to en-
sure regular airing in rooms.
Note:
Before mounting of the
electronic room thermo-
stat, an actuator must
be mounted on the zone
valve.

Description - Akva Lux II TDP-F
The domestic hot water is prepared in the heat ex-
changer based on the flow principle and the tem-
perature is controlled by the combined hydraulic
and thermostatic self-acting controller PTC2+P
with integrated differential pressure controller (1).
Description - Akva Vita II TDP-F
The domestic hot water is prepared in the heat
exchanger based on the flow principle and the
temperature is controlled by the hydraulic self-act-
ing controller PM2+P with integrated differential
pressure controller (2).
PTC2+P controller for domestic hot water (1).
The DHW temperature setting is adjusted with
the handle for temperature setting, by turning the
handle in “+” direction (warmer), or “-” direction
(colder). The temperature should be set to 45-50 °C
at normal use (7-8 l/min.) The temperature should
never exceed 55 °C to avoid lime scale precipita-
tion in the heat exchanger.
PM2+P controller for domestic hot water (2).
The DHW temperature setting is adjusted with the
handle in “red” direction (warmer), or in “blue di-
rection (colder). The temperature should be set to
45-50 °C at normal use (7-8 l/min.) The tempera-
ture should never exceed 55 °C to avoid lime scale
precipitation in the heat exchanger.
FJVR thermostat for bypass
As a standard the substation is equipped with
a bypass thermostat, Danfoss FJVR with return
temperature limiter 10/50 , which ensures that
hot water is available immediately, when tapping
starts. It is recommended to set the thermostat
in pos.3.
If the water temperature rises too slowly it can be
necessary to set the thermostat at higher value.
Circulation thermostat
Switching to DHW circulation control is possible
from a constructional point of view, requiring only
an additional circulation set. The components for
DHW circulation are not part of the delivery and
must be ordered separately and mounted on site.
If the substation is connected to the DHW circulation
system in the building, the FJVR thermostat (3) will
function as a circulation thermostat and control
the circulation water temperature, independently
of the set DHW temperature. It is recommended to
set the thermostat in pos 3.
For DHW circulation control 3 circulation sets are
available as optional equipment:
The 3 circulation sets and control change pos-
sibilities from bypass to DHW circulation will be
described on the following pages.
Please note that this description applies both to
Akva Lux II TDP-F and Akva Vita II TDP-F.

Flow regulator A flow regulator is a control device, which, ir-
respectively of mains pressure, maintains the
designated flow rate. This means that the flow
regulator automatically equalizes all changes in
pressure within a large pressure range (normally
1 to 10 bar), and thereby ensures a constant.
flow regardless of water supply pressure.
Even at low pressures the required flow is ob-
tained. At high pressures no unnecesssary water
is wasted.; in fact much water and energy can be
saved by using flow regulators.

Problem Possible cause Solution
Unzureichende Kühlung
Too small heating surface/too
small radiators compared to
the total heating requirement
of the building.
Poor utilization of existing
heating surface.
The system is single-pipe.
Increase heating surface
Make sure the heat is
distributed evenly across the
full heating surface – open
all radiators and keep the
radiators in the system from
heating up at the bottom.
Higher temperature at the
top and lower temperature at
the bottom part of radiators
means that the system
operation is correct.
It is extremely important to
keep the supply temperature
to the radiators as low as ever
possible, while maintaining a
reasonable level of comfort.

In general: Does the controller
work incorrectly
If the quantity of tap water
is normal (temperature
unimportant), it indicates that
the controller works correctly.

The substation requires little monitoring, apart
from routine checks and cleaning of strainers. To
ensure the best operating conditions regular in-
spection of the substation and a check of all re-
levant operating parameters are recommended,
for example in connection with meter reading.
Meter reading
We recommend that you read your meter regu-
larly and that you write down the meter read.
Cooling / Return temperature reading
The cooling, i.e. the temperature difference be-
tween district heating supply and district heating
return is of great importance for the total heat
economy. It is therefore very important to observe
the supply and return temperatures. Normal tem-
perature difference is 30-35 °C
Cleaning
All strainers should be checked and cleaned at
least once every year, typically in connection with
start-up of the heating system.
Tightening of connections
All threaded and flanged connections should be
checked and tightened in connection with meter
reading. All threaded and flanged connections
should be tightened regularly and especially in
connection with start-up after the summer pe-
riod.
Venting of system
Always vent the radiators and the substation be-
fore the heating season by means of the air vents
on the substation and on the radiators.
Safety valve
The safety valves’ task is to protect the substation
from pressures exceeding the permissible pressure.
The blow-opipe of the safety valves must not be
closed. The blow-off pipe outlet should be placed
so that it provides safety relief and it is possible to
observe water dropping from the safety valves.
It is advisable to check the operation of the safety
valves by turning the valve head in the indicated
direction.
Strainer
Strainers should frequently be cleaned from
sediments by authorized personnel, according
to producer’s instructions and dependent on the
substation’s operating conditions.
