1. Introduction
The MEMOday reminds you what day and time it is. Its clear display
shows the time, day of the week, date, and part of the day. You can also
have the text read aloud.
By showing whether it is night or day, the MEMOday can prevent the
user from accidentally calling a relative or going out in the middle of the
night.
The MEMOday should be placed in a central location in the home. It is
connected to a wall socket with the supplied charger.
The MEMOday is easily adjustable to suit the user's needs.
If the MEMOday loses power (like in a power failure), the text will
disappear. However, normal operation will resume when the power
comes back on.
The MEMOday adjusts automatically for the start and end of daylight
saving time.
2. Getting started
1. Decide how to introduce the MEMOday. Some people do not want to
use “assistive devices”, so it may work best to present it as a “gift”.
2. Decide where in the home the MEMOday should be positioned. It
should be somewhere it is easily seen, like by the phone or on the
kitchen counter. Make sure that there are no reflections on the display
from lights or sunlight through the windows.
3. Connect the supplied charger to a wall socket and to the socket on
the side of the MEMOday.
4. Press and hold the On/Off button on the side of the MEMOday until
the display lights up.
5. Follow the instructions shown to set language, country, time and date
as well as which information will be shown on the display. See section
8. Display for more information.
6. Make sure the charger is always connected. The display will only
remain on if the MEMOday is connected to a wall socket.
NB! Only use the supplied charger for the product. Contact your
supplier if you need a new one.
4
3. Speech support
Press lightly on the display. The MEMOday will read aloud what has
been pressed.
Make sure that the speech support setting is on; see section 8. Display.
4. Change background colour
When you press the button, the background colour of the MEMOday
changes from light to dark or dark to light.
5. Time intervals
The MEMOday displays the part of the day with text.
The time intervals for this are pre-programmed as follows:
early morning:
6:00 am 9:00 am
mid-morning
9:00 am 12:00 pm
afternoon:
12:00 pm 6:00 pm
evening:
6:00 pm 11:00 pm
night:
11:00 pm 6:00 am
During the night hours, the display brightness is reduced automatically.
6. Battery backup
If the charger is not connected or there is a power failure, a message is
shown on the display asking you to connect the charger. After one
minute without power, the display will go dark.
When power is restored to the MEMOday (the charger is connected or
power is restored after a power failure), the display will come back on
and resume showing the correct time, day of the week, date and part of
the day. The settings are saved through a built-in battery.
If the MEMOday is without power for a prolonged period of time (several
weeks), it may be necessary to make language, country, time, date and
display settings again.

7. Switching the MEMOday on/off
During normal use, the MEMOday is on so the user can see the
information on the display at any time.
You can switch off the display by briefly pressing the On/Off button.
If the MEMOday will not be used for a long period of time, it can be
switched off completely by pressing and holding the On/Off button until
two choices are shown on the display. Press to switch off the display.
8. Display
You can choose what information is shown on the display.
Go to the setting guide by pressing and holding the On/Off button until
two choices are shown. Press to start the setting guide.
The setting guide has four steps:
Set language. Languages with a symbol has the speech support
function. Once language has been selected, the symbol is green
if the speech support is switched on, or red if it is switched off.
Press the symbol to change the setting.
Select country where the MEMOday will be used. This determines
how the time is displayed and when the clock will adjust for the start
and end of daylight saving time.
Set time and date. Set the current time, year, month, and date.
Make display settings to choose what should be shown on the
display:
digital time
day of the
week
date
