1 Getting Started

1.1 Understanding Hardware Features

Front Components

This connector (under rubber dust cover) allows use of an

external GPS antenna which may be positioned on top of

the car for better signal reception in areas with poor

reception. Contact Pioneer Support for recommendations

on available third party products.

Reset Button Restarts your device (soft reset).

TMC Car Cradle

Connector

(Optional)

Connects to the optional TMC Car Cradle for receiving

TMC (Traffic Message Channel) information.

1.2 Connecting to AC Power and Charging the

Battery

Please fully charge your device before using it for the very first time.

1. Connect the AC adapter cable to the mini-USB connector on your device.

2. Connect one end of the power cable to the AC adapter and the other end to a

wall outlet.

The power indicator glows amber when charging is in progress. Do not

disconnect your device from AC power until the battery is fully charged. The

power indicator will turn green. It may take several hours to fully charge.

CAUTION: For optimal performance of the lithium battery, take note of the following:

z Do not charge the battery where the temperature is high (e.g. in direct sunlight).

z Unlike other rechargeable batteries, there is no need to fully discharge the lithium

battery before recharging.

z If you will not use the product for a long period of time, be sure to fully recharge the

battery at least once every two weeks. Over discharge of the lithium battery can affect

the charging performance.

1.3 Performing the Initial Startup

1. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.

2. The language setting screen appears. You can tap the left/right arrow to

select a language. Then, tap

.

3. The date/time setting screen appears. Tap the appropriate arrow button to

select the time zone, date, and time. Then, tap

.

4. The Main Menu appears.

1.4 Turning Your Device On and Off

Press and hold the power button for at least 2 seconds to turn on and off your

device.

When you press the power button to turn off the unit, your device actually enters

into a suspend state and the system stops operating. Once you turn on the system

again, it resumes from the same screen you left off at.

1.5 Main Menu

The Main Menu is your starting place for various tasks. Tap a button to start a

task or open another menu.

You can access the Main Menu at any time by pressing the MENU button on

your device.

1.6 Navigating on the Screen

To navigate and select objects on the screen, simply use your finger and touch

the screen. The following are possible via touch screen:

z Tap

Touch the screen once with your finger to

open items or select options.

z Drag

Hold your finger on the screen and drag

up/down/left/right or across the screen.

z Tap and hold

Tap and hold your finger until an action is

complete, or a result or menu is shown.

1.7 Using a SD Card

NOTE: Make sure that no foreign objects enter the slot.

Your device features a SD slot where you can insert the Secure Digital storage

card used for map data, storing MP3 files on your own SD card, and future

software and application updates. To use a SD card, insert it into the slot, with

the connector pointing toward the slot and its label facing the front of the device.

To remove a card, first make sure that no application is accessing the card, and

then slightly push the top edge of the card to release it and then pull it out of the

slot.

1.8 Attaching and Detaching the Device

To attach the unit to the holder and bracket, insert the unit into the holder bottom

first and then press firmly at the top, near the Pioneer logo. The unit should lock

securely into the holder.

Press down on the lever at the top of the holder to release and detach the unit.

Please hold the unit securely while detaching to avoid damage.

2 Audio Player

2.1 Starting and Exiting Audio Player

Audio Player features:

Basic playback controls such as play, pause, stop, next and previous

Playback includes single selection playback, repeat, single repeat, sampling

playback, normal sequence and random sequence.

Tap the

Audio Player button on the Main Menu to start the program. The control

panel appears on the screen where you can easily control the player by tapping

the control buttons.

2.2 Playing MP3 Files

NOTE: Prolonged listening of music in maximum volume can damage the ears.

1. Insert a Secure Digital card stored with MP3 files into your device.

2.3 Playback Controls

Open the equalizer panel. (See Section 2.5 for more

This button cycles through the following modes:

Repeated playback of all files in sequence

Repeated playback of all files in random

order.

Sampling playback in sequence

Sampling playback in random order

Single playback of the current file

Repeated playback of the current file

Help

Introduce the functions and operations of each

button. When in the help screen, tap a button to see a

description of the selected function at the bottom of

the screen.

2.4 Using the Play Lists

Saving All-songs Play List

By default, the program automatically loads all MP3 files in the play list. You

can directly save the current play list by tapping

.

Creating Your Own Play List

You can also create your own play lists for future use.

1. After starting MP3, tap on the control panel to open the play list

screen. The screen shows the current play list.

Remove all songs

from the list.

Open the list of play lists.

Save the play list.

Remove current

song from the list.

Add song

2. To add a song to the play list, tap

. Select the folder containing your

songs.

3. A screen appears displaying all the MP3 files. Tap the song(s) you wish to

add and then tap
