INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE MODEL 58430
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Please read the following instructions and keep them on
hand for later reference.
1. This appliance can be used by children 8 years and older, as
well as by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
abilities or with lack of experience and/or knowledge, if they are
supervised or if they have been instructed with regard to safe
use of the appliance and have understood the dangers that can
result from use of the appliance.
2. Children must not play with the appliance.
3. Children are not allowed to perform cleaning and user
maintenance, unless they are 8 years of age or older and are
supervised.
4. Keep the appliance and the power cord out of the reach of
children under 8 years of age.

5. CAUTION – parts of this product can become very hot and
cause burn injuries! Particular caution is required if children or
persons at risk are present.
6. Connect the appliance to alternating current only, in accordance
with the rating plate.
7. This appliance is intended for domestic and similar use such as:
staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environ
-
ments;
agricultural enterprises;
by clients in hotels, motels and other accommodation facilities;
bed and breakfast accommodations and holiday homes.
8. Appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an exter
-
nal timer or separate remote-control system.

Provide good room ventilation during use.
10. Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Avoid
any contact with water. If this should happen, all parts of the
compliance are completely dry before using it again. Only for
cleaning the appliance can be wiped with a soft damp cloth.
11. Never place the base on a hot surface or a metal tray.
12. Always place the appliance of a flat, solid, dry and heat-resist
-
ing surface.
13.
Keep a sufficient distance to walls and inflammable materials
such as curtains etc.
14. Do not pull at the cord to move the appliance and do not wind
the cord around the appliance during use.
15. Never cover the appliance during or directly after use, when it
is still hot.
16. Ensure, that the power cord does not hang down from the work
-
top as children can pull the lead and thereby cause a serious
accident.
17.
The surface of the appliance becomes very hot during use, so do
not touch hot surfaces or cooking plates. If necessary use oven
gants.
18. Never switch on the appliance without placing a filled saucepan
on the respective cooking plate. Ideally you should use flat bot
-
tomed saucepans with the same diameter as the cooking plate.

The cooking plate becomes very hot during use. Food may catch
fire if overheated. Be extremely careful not to leave the appli
-
ance in use.

20. Do not forget to switch off the appliance by turning the dial into
the O position once your preparation is ready and the appliance
is no longer in use. Pull the plug out of the socket.
21. After switching off the cooking plates still remain hot for some
time. Do not touch the hot cooking plates.
22. Wait until the appliance is cooled completely before cleaning it.
23. Check the plug and power cord regularly for wear and damage. In
case of a fault, please send the appliance for inspection/repair to
our after sales service. Inadequate repair may constitute a risk
for the user and result in the loss of guarantee.
CAUTION:
The appliance becomes very hot during operation!
Never open the housing of the appliance. This can result in electric
shock.
The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if
repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties.
BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME
1. Remove the product form the packaging. Keep packaging materials away
from children– danger of suffocation!
2. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage marked on the product is
the same as your supply voltage.
3. Place the appliance on a dry flat level surface in a well ventilated room close
to an electric wall socket.
4. Ensure that the controls are set to O.
5. Connect the plug to the wall socket as per rating label.
6. When using the appliance for the first time, it is advisable to heat the appli-
ance once by turning the thermostat control dials to 5/MAX. Leave the unit
heating for around 15 minutes. Some smoke may develop during this pro-
cess.

USING YOUR COOKING PLATE
1. Select the desired cooking temperature of the cooking plate you are using
by turning the dial to the required setting (1–5).
2. When cooking, always use flat bottomed saucepans, which make good con-
tact with the cooking plate. Ideally, the saucepan bases should be of the
same size as the cooking plates.
3. After use, switch off the appliance by turning the temperature dial to O and
remove the plug from the mains socket.
4. Due to cooking plates’ construction, residual heat will remain after switch-
ing off. This may be used to keep food warm for a short period.
Attention: After disconnecting, the appliance is still very hot for some time!
CLEANING AND CARE
Turn all dials into the O position, unplug the appliance and wait
until it is completely cool before cleaning.
Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it.
1. Do not immerse any part of this appliance in water or any other liquid.
2. Clean the surface of the appliance by wiping it with a soft damp cloth. Do
not use strong detergents of abrasive cloths/liquid, as this will damage the
surface.
3. Then, thoroughly dry the surface with a clean dry cloth.
4. All parts of the appliance must be completely dry before using it again or
before storing it.
7. Afterwards, switch off the unit by turning the knob to O and allow it to cool
completely.
8. Now your cooking plates are ready for use.

WASTE DISPOSAL / ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Our appliances are produced on a high quality level for a long lifetime. Regular maintenance
and expert repairs by our after-sales service can extend the useful life of the appliance. If an
appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions
for disposal. Do not dispose this appliance together with your standard household waste. Please
bring this product to an approved collection point for recycling of electric and electronic prod-
ucts. By separate collection and disposal of waste products you help to protect natural resources
and ensure, that the product is disposed in an adequate way to protect health and environment.
GUARANTEE CONDITIONS
We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the
date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been
used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workman-
ship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany
and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of
defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged, together with a copy of the
automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect.
You can print out a return receipt on our website www.unold.de/ruecksendung. (only for entries from Germany
and Austria). The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply
with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the
appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
