Instructions
Removing the Old Tape Seal
1. Use the side cutters to remove a portion of the strain relief
retainer from the assembly to expose the screw on the tape
seal plug.
Tools and Materials Needed
1. Tape Seal Kit (#116806), Includes:
Strain Relief
Strain Relief Retainer
Silicone Grease
Tape Seal Plug with O-rings
2 x #4 Self Tapping Screw
Assembly Tool #T0596
2 x Brass Tape Terminations with O-rings
Tape Seal Plug Spacer
#4-40 Screw
2. Side-Cutter Pliers
3. Phillips Screwdriver
4. Silicone Sealant
5. Arbor Press or Rubber Mallet
Notes: If there is dirt or debris on the tape, you can use a mild
phosphate-free detergent (non-abrasive) to clean it.
If any amount of the tape needs to be cut/trimmed, you must
account for a new zero point accordingly.
Note: See separate Probe Replacement Instructions for removal and
re-attachment of the probe.
2. Remove the screw from the tape seal plug using the Phillips
screwdriver.
3. Pull the tape seal plug assembly off of the tape.
4. Slide the strain relief off of the tape.
Assembling the New Tape Seal
5. Slide the new strain relief retainer onto the new strain
relief. Lubricate the end of the strain relief with the silicone
grease.
6. Slide the strain relief and retainer onto the tape.
7. Ensure the three o-rings are installed on the tape seal plug
and slide tape into the tape seal plug.

8. Before pushing the tape all the way into the tape seal plug,
apply silicone sealant to the top and bottom of the cut web
section of the tape.
9. Push the tape into the tape seal plug until it stops.
10. Slide the strain relief up the tape to the tape seal plug until
the angled faces meet.
11. Install a self tapping screw in the original position through
the opening in the tape seal plug furthest from the strain
relief. Flip the tape seal plug over and install the second
screw in the opening closest to the strain relief, piercing
both the tape and strain relief.
12. Apply silicone sealant around the tape seal plug, ensuring
all holes are filled.
13. Push the strain relief retainer over the tape seal plug as far
as it will go.
14. Place the assembly into Tool #T0596 with the tape seal
plug facing up.
15. Using an arbor press or rubber mallet, press or tap the
tape seal plug into the strain relief retainer until it locks into
place. Wipe off any excess silicone, once the strain relief
retainer is in place.
16. Ensure there are two o-rings installed on each of the two
brass tape termination contacts.
17. Push the tape termination contacts into the two holes in
the top of the tape seal plug as far as they will go.

18. Slide the tape seal plug spacer over the tape termination
contacts with the countersink facing away from the plug.
19. Install the screw to hold the spacer into place on the tape
seal plug.
