1. Connectthehostendoftheinterfacecabletotheappropriateconnecto ronthe
hostsystem.
2. Forthosecaseswhereexternalpowerisused,plugtheexternalACpoweradapter
intothejackontheinterfacecable.

Thescannerturnsonwhenpowerissupplied,andturnsoffwhenpowerisremoved.
Thereisnoon/offswitchonthescanneritself.
Thescannerrequiresaminimumof2Wat5VDCpower.Theinterfacecablethatcomes
withthescannersupportsbothdirectpower(wherethescannertak espowerfr
omthe
hostmachine)andexternalpower(that ’swhatthesuppliedpoweradapterisfor).A
sufficientlyrobustPOSsystemcansupportascannersuccessfullywithoutexternalpower;
aPOSsystemwithabarelyadequatepowersupplymayproduceerraticperformance
(eitherofthePOSsystemitself,orofthescanner,orbo
th)whenascannerisattached.
Toensuresteadyperformance,thehostsystemshouldbecapabletosupplyaminimum
of400mAofcurrent@5VDC.UnlessyouaresureyourPOSsystemcanhandlesuch
loading,itisrecommendedthatyouusethequalifiedpoweradapter.Whenanex
ternal
adapterisconnecte d,thescannerwillautomaticallyswitchoffthedirectpowerfrom
hosttoscanner.
