1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1.
Read all instructions and keep thesesafety instructions. Anytype of mis-
useoftheappliance may result in a potential injury.

Connect the appliance to amains powersocket with an earth con-
nectiononly. Mainsvoltage mustbe the same as the detailson the rat-
ing plate. The use ofincorrect connection will negate the guarantee and
maybe hazardous.
3.
This appliance isintendedto be used in household only. It is notinten-
ded to be used in following applications, and theguarantee will not
applyfor:
staff kitchen areasin shops, offices and otherworking envir-
onments;
farm houses;
by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
bed and breakfast type environments;

Your appliance is intended for domesticuse inside thehome only at an
altitude below 3400 m.

In case ofany inappropriateuse orfailure to comply with the instruc-
tions, themanufacturer accepts no responsibility and theguarantee may

We recommend using the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® capsulesdesigned
and testedfor the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® machine. They were
designedto interacttogether - theinteraction provides thein-cup quality
thatNESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® is known for. Each capsule is designed
toprepare a perfect cup, and cannot be reused.

Do notremove hot capsulesby hand. Always use capsule holder handle
todispose of used capsules.
8.
Alwaysuse the appliance on aflat, stable, heat resistant surface away
from sources of heat or watersplashes.
9.
To protect against fire, electricshock and injury to persons do not
immersethe power cord, plugsorthe appliance in wateror otherliquid.
Avoidspillage on the plug. Never touch the powercord with wet hands.
Donot overfill the watertank.
10.
In case ofan emergency remove theplug from the mainspower socket
immediately.
11.
Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near chil-
dren.Keep the appliance / powercord / capsule holder out of reach of
children. Children shouldbe supervisedto ensure that they do not play
withthe appliance. Never leave theappliance without surveillance
whilemaking a beverage.

This appliance isnotintended for use by children orpersons with
reducedphysical, sensory or mental capabilities, orlack ofexperience
and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision orinstruction

Do notuse the appliance withoutthedrip tray and drip grid, except
whena very tall mug is used. Do not usethe appliance for hot
waterpreparation.

Forhealth reasons, alwaysfill the water tank with fresh drinking
water.

Afteruse oftheappliance always remove thecapsule andclean
thecapsule holder. Emptyand clean the drip tray and capsulebin
daily. Usersallergic to dairyproducts: Rinse the appliance accord-
ing to thecleaning procedure.

Theheating element surface is subject to residual heat afteruse
and plastic housingsmay feel warm to touch several minutes
uponuse.

Unplug from the mainspower socket when notin use.

Unplug from the mainspower socket beforecleaning. Allow to cool
beforeputting on ortaking off parts, beforecleaning the appli-
ance.Never clean wet or immerse appliance in any fluid. Never
cleanthe appliance with running water. Neveruse detergentsto
cleanthe appliance. Clean theappliance only using soft
sponges/brushes. Thewater tank should be cleaned with a clean
food-safe brush.

Neverturn the machine upside down.

Ifaway forprolonged periods, on holiday, etc. theappliance must
beemptied, cleaned and unplugged. Rinsebefore reuse. Operate
therinsecycle before re-using your appliance.

Do notturn off the appliance during the descaling process. Rinse
thewatertank and clean the appliance to avoid any residual
descalingagent.
22.
Anyoperation, cleaningand care otherthan normal use must be
undertakenby after-salesservice centres designatedby
NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® hotline. Do notdismantle appliance
and do notput anything into openings.
23.
In case ofintensive use withoutallowingsufficient cooling time,
theappliance will stop functioningtemporarily with the redindic-
atorlightblinking. This is to protectyour appliance from over-
heating. Switchthe appliance off for20 minutes to letit cool
down.
24.
Do notoperate anyappliance with a damaged cord or plug. Ifthe
powercord is damaged, itmust be replaced by the manufacturer,
itsservice agent or similarly qualified persons in orderto avoid a
hazard.Do not operate any appliance that malfunctions or has
beendamaged in any manner. Unplug cord immediately. Return
thedamaged appliance to the nearestauthorised service facility
designatedby NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto® hotline.
25.
Theuse ofaccessory attachments notrecommended by the appli-
ancemanufacturermay result in fire, electric shock or injury to per-
sons.

Do notlet the cord hang over theedge of a table or counter, or
touchhot surfaces orsharp edges. Do not allow the cord to dangle
(riskof tripping up). Never touch the cord with wethands.
27.
Do notplace on ornear a hot gas orelectric burner, or in a heated
oven.
28.
To disconnect, turn the machine off, then remove the plug from the
mainspower socket. Donot unplug by pulling the cord.
29.
Alwaysinsert the capsuleholder in the machine to prepare a beverage.
Donot pull outthe capsule holder before theindicator stops blinking.
Theappliance will notwork ifthe capsule holder is not inserted.
30.
Machinesequipped with a locking handle: Scalding mayoccur ifthe
lockinghandle is opened during thebrewing cycles. Do not pull up the
lockinghandle before thelights on the machine stop flashing.
31.
Do notput fingers under theoutlet during beveragepreparation.
32.
Do nottouch theinjector ofthe machine head.
33.
Nevercarry the appliance by the machine head.
34.
Thecapsule holder is equipped with a permanent magnet. Avoidpla-
cingthe capsule holder near appliances and objects that canbe dam-
agedby magnetism, e.g. creditcards, USB drives and other data
devices, video tapes, television and computermonitors with picture
tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids andloud speakers.
35.
Patientswith pacemakers or defibrillators: Do not hold thecapsule
holderdirectlyover the pacemakerordefibrillator.
36.
Ifthemains power socket does not matchtheplug on the appliance,
havethe plug replaced with a suitable type by aftersales service centres
designatedby NESCAFÉ® Dolce Gusto® hotline.
37.
Packaging is made ofrecyclable materials. Contact your local council /
authorityfor further information on recycling programs. Your appliance
containsvaluablematerials which canbe recovered or recycled.

4. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFE USE
Neveradd hot water to the water tank!
Forrinsingand beverage preparation only use drink-
ing water.
Always keep the machine upright! After finishingpreparation the powerbutton blinks
red forabout5 seconds. During that time donot
openlocking handle!
Do not touch plugwith wethands. Do nottouch
machine with wethands!
Neveruse a wet sponge. Onlyuse a soft damp
clothto clean the topof the machine.
Do not touch usedcapsule afterbeverage pre-
paration! Hotsurface, risk of burns!
Nevertouchinjector with surface of finger! Do not use the rinsingtool fortea or hot waterpre-
paration.
Ifaway formore than 2 days (on holidays etc.)the
machine must be emptied, cleaned and
unplugged. Before reuse rinse machine according
to instructions in 7. “Cleaning onpage 12, begin-
ningwith step 4 to step8.

Rinse watertank manually with freshdrinking water. Fill
watertank withfresh drinking water.Insert water tank into
machine.

Openlocking handle. Make sure thatrinsing toolis in cap-
sule holder and capsule holder is in machine. Close locking
handle. Place an empty large container underneath the coffee
outlet.

washing-up liquidas needed. Afterwards refillwith fresh
drinkingwater and insert itinto machine. The water tank is
not dishwasher proof!

not dishwasher proof!

Cleanwith washing-up liquidand freshdrinking waterboth
sides ofcapsule holder. Alternatively wash indishwasher.

Use NESCA®DolceGust liquid
descaler. To order, call the

Do not use vinegarfordescaling! Avoidcontactof descalingliquid with any
partof the machine.
Do not push powerbutton during descaling
cycle.

Ifthe beverage comes out slower thanusual (even in
droplets), orif it is cooler than usual or ifthe powerbutton is
steadyorange (descalingsignal), the machine has to be
descaled.

Switchoff machine. Ifany, remove water from water tank.

Mix 0.4 literfresh drinkingwater with descalerin a meas-
uring cup. Pourdescaling solution into water tank and insert
watertank intomachine.

9. 1 NO LIQUID COMES OUT NO WATER?
No liquid comes out and the machine makes a loudnoise.
STOP

Pushselection leverto the "STOP" position.

Check ifthe watertank contains enough freshdrinking
water. If not, refill withfresh drinking waterand push selec-
tionlever to the "HOT" position respectively "COLD" to con-
tinue preparation. If the water tank is full proceed as
describedin 9.2“NO LIQUID COMESOUT – CAPSULE/
INJECTORBLOCKED? ” onpage 15.
No liquid comes out: The capsule may be blockedand under
pressure.
STOP

Always keep the machine upright! To stop preparation, push
selectionleverto the "STOP" position. Donotopen locking
handleby force. Machine releases pressure. Waitfor 20
minutes to reduce the pressure.

Do not drink the coffee!Lift the locking handle. Remove cap-
sule holder. Put used capsule in capsule bin.

Rinse the machine: Follow instructions in 5. onpage 1.
Cleanwith washing-up liquidand freshdrinking waterboth
sides ofcapsule holder. Rinse driptray with fresh drinking
waterand cleanit with acleanfood-safe brush.

Close lockinghandle. Removethe watertank and take out
the cleaning needle. Keep needle out of reach ofchildren!

Unplugpower plug! Remove drip gridand driptray. Forbetter
accessto injector tilt machine. Nevertouchinjector with fin-
ger!Clean injector withcleaning needle. Follow instructions
in8. “Descaling at leastevery 3-4months onpage 13.
