1. Overview
This User Guide is written for the amino A140 with Opera 10 Firmware 2.1.3 and higher.
Older firmware versions, also on amino 130, maybe look different, but have nearly the same features.

2. Setup
2.1 Normal settings
For a fast configuration please do the following steps.
1. Connect the amino 140 with power, LAN and a video cable to you TV, Teracue recommend
HDMI to have the best quality.
2. Use an USB keyboard or the special amino IR keyboard, to enter the menu.
3. After the start of the amino A140, you should see the normal start page.
.!. A different Firmware may boot with a different Start page.

4. To open the menu, press the key combination Alt+M or CTRL+Alt+M on your keyboard and
enter the menu password (leaves).

5. After the menu is open, use the cursor keys of the keyboard to navigate.
The arrow keys ‘↑’, ‘↓’ and ‘→’ are for opening/navigating the sub menu and the arrow key ‘←’
is for leaving the sub menu.

6. Change the IP-settings
Teracue delivers all Aminos with DHCP enabled. If a DHCP Server is configured, you can
start working immediately with the amino A140.
For remote control, Teracue recommends disabling DHCP and configure the IP-address,
Netmask and Gateway in the DHCP menu.

7. After settings have been changed, you will be asked for a save password (snake).

2.2 Advanced settings
2.2.1 Video settings in the main menu:
To turn the ‘IGMP end timeout’ or other timeouts off, please change these values to “0”.

2.2.2 Video settings in the user preferences:
To open the user preferences, please do following:
a) A140: Press ‘MENU’ on the IR remote control or ‘settings’ on the amino IR keyboard.
b) A140H: Open the main menu, like described above, and open the sub menu ‘user pref’.
Please adjust these settings to the needs of the TV.

2.2.3 Browser settings:
2.2.3.1 Home Page
After the A140 has finished the startup, it opens automatically the Web page, configured in the ‘Home
page’ setting.
.!. Incorrectly, registered websites could turn the amino into an undefined state.

2.2.3.2 GFX resolution
Independent to the used video resolution of the TV, this setting configures the graphic resolution in
which the website is displayed.
Teracue Websites are optimized for 720 HD.

3. Amino Usage
There are different possibilities to use the amino A140.
Use it like your TV at home, or switch the TV channels remotely or via a schedule.
3.1 Open a multicast or unicast stream at the start page
Press ‘F10’ on the USB keyboard or the ‘GOTO’ key on the amino IR keyboard and enter the URL.

3.2 Zapping Box
Use the Amino like the TV at home, zap the channels with up and down or enter the channel number.
3.2.1 Local Channel List
The ‘local channel list’ is installed since Firmware C Version 14.42
To edit the channels, open the local channel list by pressing the key combination Alt+C, and enter the
‘local channel password’ (letmein)
Change the start page to the local channel list automatically with the ‘Home Page’ entry see Chapter
2.2.3.1

3.2.2 Central Channel Website
The ‘local channel list’ may become complicated in bigger environments.
Every TV channel exchange needs to be configured on every single amino STB.
A central Webpage will simplify this process and can be stored on any local webserver.
An example of such a webpage can be downloaded from the Teracue Website ‘AminoWebSite.zip’
3.2.3 iCue or Element Manager Website
To combine user management, remote control, live channel and/or VOD, Teracue developed several
specialized Websites to satisfy all customer needs.
Use all IR Remote commands like mute together with the possibility for remote control and zapping
with the Teracue iCue or Element Manager Websites.
3.3 Remote Control
3.3.1 Element Manager
The Teracue Element Manager offers the possibility to remotely control the amino from a PC or a
media controller such as Crestron or AMX.
Additional you are able to use the Element Manager scheduler for automated channel switching
The details of the protocol are described in the Element Manger User Guide.

3.3.1.1 Amino commands
The direct ‘Amino commands’ provide the possibility to control the Amino with basic commands, like
open URL, open VOD or Stream or restart.
The ‘Amino commands’ are send encrypted from the Element Manager to the amino.
3.3.1.2 EMC commands
The Element Manager ‘EMC commands’ provides more advanced command, like mute on or off.
The ‘EMC commands’ are send encrypted from the Element Manager to the amino.
3.3.2 Fake Keys
Beside the Remote control command from Element Manger, a simple remote control command called
‘Fake Keys’ is possible. This protocol emulate every key from the IR Remote or from an USB Keyboard.
Requirements: Amino 140 Firmware C Version 14.61 or higher
.!. Fake Keys is an unsecure protocol and should only be used in closed environments.
The protocol is described in Chapter 6

4. Upgrade
4.1 Upgrade Amino STB Firmware
Download the Firmware ‘mc2.mcfs’ from:https://www.aminocom.com/support/amino-support-portal or
from Teracue, please write to s[email protected]
To use Teracue Element Manager, Teracue requires the Teracue Firmware to have all the functions
available.
4.1.1 Upgrade from Webserver.
How-to: prepare your Webserver that you could download the firmware. Test it with the browser on
your Computer Browser e.g. http//<ServerIP>/folder/mc2.mcfs.
If your Browser could download this file, you could enter the same path in the amino update menu.
Pro: easy update with any possible Webserver.
Con: some files like the shadow file are not replaced; you need physical access and a connected
keyboard.
4.1.2 Upgrade from USB Stick.
How-to: Copy the Firmware named mc2.mcfs on a USB Stick in the root directory.
Power off – Press and hold the Reset Button – Power on – Release the Reset Button after 5 seconds.
Pro: the Password are not needed, all files are replaced.
Con: you need physical access.
4.1.3 Upgrade via Linux Server started on the Amino Menu.

4.2 Upgrade the chnls.txt
In smaller environment where you work with local channel List, edit the local channel list with Alt+C on
every amino or do following:
4.2.1 New Firmware
Build a new firmware with included ‘local channel list’, or ask Teracue for a new firmware.
4.2.2 Copy new chnls.txt
.!. An improper chnls.txt can destroy the image.
Before you copy the new chnls.txt please make sure the chnls.txt has the correct format. An example
could be found in Chapter 6.2
4.2.2.1 Copy new chnls.txt via USB
Copy the new chnls.txt to a USB Stick.
Enter the USB Stick in the USB Port of the amino.
Use putty from http://www.putty.org or another SSH Client to make an SSH connection to your
amino on port 22333

Enter the following command: ‘cp /MEDIA/MEDIA1/chnls.txt to /mnt/nv’

4.2.2.2 Copy new chnls.txt via TFTP
Start a TFTP Server on your computer
Teracue recommend TFTPD from http://tftpd32.jounin.net

5. FAQ
a) Does Amino 140 support RTP streams?
Yes if it is a Transport stream encapsulated in RTP packets.
Please use Teracue Firmware 14.21 or higher
b) Does Amino 140 support HLS streaming?
Yes since Teracue Firmware 14.10 or higher HLS is supported
c) Does Amino 140 support Teletext on HDMI
Yes when in the Transport Stream Teletext is enabled you could open the Teletext with
the recording button , or the text button.

6. Appendix
6.1 Invalid Video Mode
A simple method of video mode recovery is the following:
Power cycle the box, and while it is booting hold down the OK button on the remote and point
to the front of the Amino (keep the button pressed).
The LED will not flash as long as the IR sensor is not recognized by the OS (will take some
time)
The LED will start flashing as soon as the STB starts to receive commands from the remote.
The STB will recognize the signal from the remote and will set the HDMI output to auto detection
(HDAUTO) on boot up (if a HDMI is connected then the output will be set to HD and not SD).
The box will be reconfigured, the LED will stop flashing as the box reboots (Release the OK
Button on the remote).
The STB is now reconfigured and displaying the video again.
6.2 Chnls.txt
This is a the correct structure of the chnls.txt for the Amino.
.!. An improper chnls.txt can destroy the image.

6.3 Fake Key Protocol
The fake Key protocol is a simple text protocol, and could be used with all media control systems.
The fake Key protocol does not give you any feedback.
.!. Fake Keys is an unsecure protocol and should only be used in closed environments.
.!. Fake Keys is not enabled on all Teracue Amino Firmware.
.!. sending ‘0’ or wrong commands disable the IR receiver until next reboot.
To enable IR receiver again send ‘-1’
6.3.1 Test the commands
You could test all the commands with the Teracue tool ‘SendTextApplication’.
Open the ‘SendTextApplication.exe’
Choose TCP/IP
Enter the IP Address of the Amino 140 on Port 40000
Click open and enable Line Feed ‘LF’
To send a command enter the command in the Field Send and press ‘Enter
