Temperature Control Knob

The broiler pan and its grid allow dripping
greaseto drain and be kept away from the
high heatof the broiler. DO NOT usethe pan
without itsgrid. DO NOTcover the grid with
foil. The exposed greasecould ignite.
To Bake
1. Arrange oven rackswhile the oven is still cool.
2. Pushinand turn the Temperature Control knob tothe desiredoven temperature. When
the ovenisfirst turned on, the oven indicatorlight (somemodels)underthe Temperature
Control knob will glow.
3. Preheatthe ovenfor 10to 12 minutes before baking. Preheatingisnot necessarywhen
roasting, cooking casserolesor broiling most foods. When the desired temperature is
reached, the oven indicator light will go out.
4. When cooking isfinished, turn the Temperature Control knob to OFF.
To Broil
1. Pullout broiler drawer.
2. Arrange oven rack while broiler is
stillcool. Forraremeats,position the
broiler pan closer to the burner
(upper position).Forwell-done foods
suchaschicken, lobster tailsor thick
cutsofmeat, positionthe panfurther
from the burner (lower position).
3. Push in and turn the Temperature
Control knob to BROIL.You may
adjustthe Temperature Control knobdown to avoid excessbrowning or drying of foods
that should be cooked to the well-done stage.
4. Placethe grid on the broiler pan, and then place the meat on the grid, DO NOTuse the
broiler panwithout the grid or coverthe grid with aluminum foil. Theexposedfat could
ignite.
5. Pushin the drawer and close the doer.
6. Broil on one sideuntil food is browned; turn and cook on the secondside. Seasonand
serve.Note: Alwayspull the drawer out to the stop position before turning or removing
food.
7. When broiling isfinished, turn the Temperature Control knob to OFF.
_[_1_1_ Should anoven fire occur, leavethe ovendoor closedand turn the ovenoff.
Ifthe fire continues, throw baking sodaon the fire or usea fire extinguisher. DO NOT put
water or flour on the fire. Flour may be explosive.

Thetemperature in the oven hasbeen setat the factory. When first usingthe oven, be sure
to follow recipetimes and temperatures. Ifyou think the oven is too hot or too cool, the
temperature inthe oven can be adjusted. Beforeadjusting, test a recipe by using a higher
or lower temperature than the recommended temperature. The baking resultsshould help
you to decide how much of an adjustment is needed.
ToAdjust Oven Temperature:
1. Check to be sure the Temperature control knob is in the OFFposition.
2. PullTemperature control knob straight off the shaft.
3. Loosen,but do not remove,the two screwsatthe back of the knob. Note: Ifknob does
not have2 screws, it isnot adjustable. There isaseriesof small indicator grooves. One
of these grooves ispositioned next to atiny pointer. Note the position of the pointer.
4. Toincreasethe temperature, movethe pointer in aclockwise direction. To decreasethe
temperature, movethe pointer in acounterclockwise direction. Thetemperature canbe
adjusted in incrementsof 1O°F.
5. When the desired adjustment is reached, tighten both screws.
6. Toreplacethe knob, line upthe flat sidesof both the knob and the shaft. Pushthe knob
into place. DO NOTforce the Temperature Control knob onto the shaft or you may
damage the back of the knob.
Note: Once an adjustment ismade, the OFFposition will vary from the reference mark on
the backguard depending on the amount of adjustment.
