Cervélo RCA is the fastest R-Series bicycle Cervélo has ever engineered. It is the product of an advanced composite engineering group using the most advanced engineering tools and materials available today. Your new Cervélo features a frame that exceeds all expectations. It maintains the general proportions of the classic Squoval frames, but adopts technology from the aerodynamics team to drive the performance even farther. Your RCA is the result of focusing on what matters and ignoring what doesn’t. It is designed to accommodate electronic, mechanical and hydraulic controls. The unique design of the Single Bend bottom bracket cable guide and the Single Bend cable guide anticipates either traditional or cross cable routing, and the cables will not touch inside the down tube.

INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the fastest R-Series bicycle Cervélo has ever engineered. True to our mantra of Uncompromised Engineering, the Rca represents
all that our Project California division stands for: the drive to create the ultimate road bicycle.
Not restrained by industry norms, your new Cervélo is the product of an advanced composite engineering group using the most advanced engineering tools and
materials available today. An unyielding obsession with every detail results in a frame which begins with the impressive R-Series performance requirements,
and exceeds all expectations. You will notice immediately that the Rca maintains the general proportions of our classic Squoval
TM
frames, but we have adopted
technology from our aerodynamics team to drive the performance even farther. Your Rca is the result of focusing on what matters, and ignoring what doesn’t.
This document has been prepared to guide you through the set-up of the unique features of the Rca, but is intended only as a supplement to the assembly
instructions offered by your component manufacturer.

GETTING STARTED
Fork
Because your Rca fork is engineered with the advanced Integran/PowerMetal Nanovate
TM
nickel coating on the steerer tube, Cervélo recommends using a saw
designed for use on metal, with at least 32tpi to ensure an accurate end cut.

Derailleur cables
Designed to accommodate electronic, mechanical and hydraulic controls, the Rca frame has been engineered to provide seamless integration of all shifting
systems, regardless of method or brand. In order to do so, you will require the parts shown on the following page:

Rubber blanking plug for
down tube access port
Rubber electric wire guide
for down tube access port
Rubber electric wire
guide for rear drop out
Rubber blanking plug
for FD wire hole
Rubber blanking plug
for battery wire hole
Mechanical shifting and
brake click-in cable stops
Hydraulic hose click-in guide
Single-Bend cable guide
Press-In cable stop for
rear drop out
Rubber blanking plug
for BB access port

Mechanical
Front and rear derailleur cables may be assembled in the traditional method with the cable routed to the cable port on the same side as the shifter, or crossing
to the opposite side; the unique design of the Single Bend bottom bracket cable guide anticipates either. Whether cables cross or not, they will not touch inside
the down tube.
Connect cables to derailleurs and adjust as usual.
Clip in stops Route cables and housings into down tube Route cables out of bottom bracket. Ensure
cables are not twisted together.
6
Route cables through BB guide. Front cable crosses the
valley. Feed cables in direction of seat tube and chain stay.
Install chain stay housing stop. Housing stop is about 8cm farther back, so
use about 8cm shorter housing than normal.
Route cables out of front derailleur and rear
dropout exit holes. Snap BB guide into frame.

REAR BRAKE
Install the front click-in cable housing stop.
Install the rear housing and adjust brake as usual.
For hydraulic brakes, substitute the appropriate click-in hose
guides. Hydraulic hose guides have a 5mm through hole.
Route the brake cable in and out of the top tube. Install the rear click-in housing stop.

Instructions:
1. Inspect the frame for damage and ensure the frame is clear of any debris.
2. Loosely install both mounting screws, then tighten the screws equally to a maximum of 2.5Nm.
3. Install the wheel in the frame, and use a Derailleur Alignment Gauge to align the hanger parallel to the wheel.
USING YOUR CERVÉLO LIGHT-TRANSIT BAG
Your Rca has been delivered with a custom frame bag to protect your bike during car transit (not intended as a travel case to be used during air travel or shipping).
When you’ve reached your destination, it folds cleanly away in its own storage pouch. Like everything Cervélo engineers, this solution was designed in Toronto, and
is manufactured to the highest standards to meet very special needs, much like your Rca.
Inserting your bike into the Rca Light-Transit bag
1. Shift to the large front chain ring (this protects the teeth when the wheels are off) and smallest rear cog (this
makes wheel removal easier). Remove the wheels from the bike.
2. Using the rear shifting lever, move the rear derailleur into the innermost position (this helps protect the rear derailleur).
3. Depending on saddle height, it may be necessary to remove your saddle. Loosen the seat post clamp with
a 4mm Allen key and remove your seat post. When re-installing, follow the recommended maximum tightening
torque value on the seat post clamp. The pocket on the front of the bag can be used to store your seat post.

so that the brake arm does not contact the down tube.
5. There is room in your bag to insert your wheels, but you will need to use the wheel bags supplied by the wheel
manufacturer.
