Keeping
foodstuffs
Various temperature zones are available in
the refrigerator. The coldest zone
is
on the
panel above the vegetable crisper, at the rear.
Wherever possible, produce should be cove-
red or packaged when in the refrigerator, to
prevent drying out and the transfer of taste
from one food to another.
The following foods are not suited to storage
in a refrigerator:
0
sliced lemons, pineapples, onions and garlic
(because of the strong smells given
off).
0
bread and potatoes (they dry out).
0
semi-ripe fruit and vegetables (e.g. toma-
toes) will not continue to ripen.
0
bananas go bad very quickly because of their
sensitivity to coldness.

The function of the indicator lamps
The
green indicator lamp
A
flashes when
the appliance
is
switched on and when the tem-
perature in the freezing compartment deviates
from a set value (e. g. when the door has been
kept open too long or when new foodstuffs
are being loaded). It lights up continuously as
soon as the selected temperature has been rea-
ched in the interior.
The
red warning lamp
B flashes until the
freezing compartment
is
ready for operation,
then
it
goes out.
It
lights up again
if
the tempe-
rature in the freezing compartment rises (e. g.
when the door has been kept open too long or
when new foodstuffs are being loaded etc.). In
such cases switch to superfreezing
C
until the
red warning lamp goes out again. If
it
remains
lit
for an extended period of time, check that
the temperature selector
is
set correctly, or
whether there
is
a fault (see notes under
"Faults").
The
yellow superfreeze indicator lamp
C
lights up when superfreezing
is
activated.
It
goes out when superfreezing
is
switched off
manually or or automatically (after approx. 24
hours).
Freezing food
Freezing capacity:
do not attempt to free-
ze more food in 24 hours than
is
stated (in kg)
under "Freezing Capacity" on the Rating Label
at the bottom inside the freezer section.
Wrap the items to be frozen and place them
flat side down directly on the floor of the
m
basket, where they will freeze through to the
core in the shortest possible time.
Superfreezing
To achieve rapid freezing, press the super-
freeze button
C
24 hours before loading food-
stuffs. The yellow superfreeze indicator button
lights up. After approx. 24 hours this lamp goes
out automatically. The appliance switches to
"normal operation".
With smaller volumes of foodstuffs, super-
freezing can be switched off manually after just
a few hours.
Small volumes up to
10%
of the freezing
capacity can be loaded anywhere without swit-
ching to superfreezing.
When loading foodstuffs which are already
frozen, all baskets can be completely filled. The
superfreeze button does not need to be pres-
sed.
Fresh foods should not be mixed with
already-frozen food; before freezing more
food, wait
at
least 24 hours after fresh food has
been put in the freezing basket before moving
it
to the other baskets for storage.
Defrosting or defrosted food should be used
at once, or prepared (cooking, roasting)
-
it
should never be re-frozen. Only after defrosted
food has been cooked can
it
be re-frozen.
Storing frozen food
Limiting the number of times the door
is
ope-
ned, and the time
it
is
left open, will keep down
the electricity consumption. Arrange your food
in an orderly fashion in the storage baskets.
Make out records of the type of food and the
"consume
by"
dates on the storage record
cards provided. Preferably, use a soft lead
-
or
grease
-
pencil,
so
that the writing can easily be
wiped off.
The allowable storage time depends on the
type of foods. With proprietary frozen foods,
the storage time
is
given on the package.
This comes on when the door
is
opened and
goes
off
when
it
is
closed. The light switch
actuator
is
on the upper front panel (Illustration
0,
see arrow).
Advice:
A
built-in
safety switch
(not visible) swit-
ches
off
the interior light
if
too much heat
is
generated by the bulb because the door has
been left open for too long. The light will ope-
rate normally again once the door has been clo-
sed for a short time.
Replacing interior light
bulb
If the light does not come on when the door
is
opened, press the actuator in a few times to
see
if
it
is
working correctly, or
if
the door has
been left open for a long time just before.
When neither of these factors seems to be
the reason for the light not coming on, the bulb
should be replaced.
First detach plug or fuse. Push snap-catch
(illustration

to left and pull downwards.
Remove cover. Screw in new bulb 220-240

Replace cover, making sure
it
audibly snaps
into place.
Rub talcum powder on the seal occasionally
to keep
it
elastic.
The high quality and state-of-the-art design
are a guarantee of perfect operation. However,
should the appliance operate incorrectly, befo-
re contacting Service, we recommend you
check that you have followed all the sugge-
stions given in these Instructions.
It
is
possible
that the fault has been caused by something
trivial.
