Start‐Up and Cold‐Start



1. A heat resistant

stickercanbefoundin

the user manual bag.

Apply this sticker on

the warm‐air duct

near the reload

button as a reminder

for the use of the

reloadbutton.

2.Plugthe powercableintoa120V

walloutlet.Youwillhearthemotor

running for the first calibration of

their minimum opening. Plug your

wall thermostat into the terminal

identifiedwiththebigTontheback

ofthefurnace.PlugtheRTDintothe

terminalidentifiedwithabigR.



3. Push the reload

button: The light

on the button will

blink3quicktimes.

Air controls are

now at the

maximumopening,

readyforignition.



4.Openthedoorandloadyour

firebox: Place paper and

kindlingontopoftheashgrate,

placelogsNorth‐Southoneach

side,nextcrisscrosslogson‐top

of them. LEAVE AIR SPACE

BETWEEN LOGS FOR CLEAN

ANDPOWERFULSTART!



Light is ON: Maximum burn level. Air control regulation for lowest emissions. Ember bed

burner.Fanblowsatanormalspeedtoreleaseallheatavailable.Thermostatcallsforheat.



LightBlinkingSlowly(1.5secondperblink):Energysavingmode.Fanblowsonlytorelease extra

heat(morecycling).Fireisattheminimumto keepagoodcombustion.Emberbedsaver.No

call‐for‐heatonthethermostat.



LightisOFF:Coldemberbed.Needspaperandkindlingtobere‐ignited.



Lightblinkingquickly(5blinkspersecond):Do notaddwood.Aircontrolsfullyclosed.Iffirebox

maximum temperature is reached, fan will blow at normal speed. If plenum maximum

temperatureisreached,fanwillblowatmaximumspeed.

WARNING:Pleasenotethatanyhigh‐efficiencywoodheaterlikeyourCaddyAdvancedcanaccumulategasandignite

suddenly,creatinginrareoccasionsaburstthatcanputpressureonthesystemwhenitisreleased.Thisburstcouldbe

powerful

enoughtodetachthepipeconnectoratthebackoftheunitifitisnotproperlysecured,causingsmoketospill

intotheroom.Forthisreason,ITISCRUCIALTHATYOURPIPECONNECTORBEPROPERLYSECUREDWITHATLEAST3

METALSCREWSasindicatedintheinstallationsection.Furthermore,

inordertopreventthisraresituationfrom

occurring,itisalwaysrecommendedthatyoufollowthesesimpleloadingrules:

Hotemberbed(reloadbuttonlightisONorslowlyblinking).



Max4”ofembersandashaccumulationatthebottomofthe

firebox.Ifmorethan4”,increasethetargettemperatureonthe

thermostatorremoveashwhentheunithascooleddown.Empty

yourashpaneveryweek.

Bringhotemberstothefront.Loadintheback.

Leave

 4” of freespace in the front. Crisscross

logs.Leaveairspacebetweenlogs.



Coldemberbed(reloadbuttonlightisturnedOFF).Thisconditionindicatesthefurnaceneedstobere‐ignited.



Press the reload button before opening the door. Put

paper and kindling on top of the ash grate to help re‐

ignite.

Add one logon each side of the ash grate, then crisscross

otherlogsoverthem.Ignitethepaperandleavedooropen

untilaflameappears.


