Owner3 Manual
Welcome
This manual has been prepared to acquaint you with the operation and
maintenance of your
1993
Astro, and to provide important safety information.
There
is
also a Chevrolet Truck Warranty and Owner Assistance Information
booklet. In some vehicles, there can be information manuals from other
manufacturers like body builders, van outfitters or special equipment
companies. We urge you to read all these publications carefully. This will help
you enjoy the safe and trouble-free operation
of
your vehicle.
When
it
comes to service, keep in mind that your Chevrolet dealer knows
your vehiple best and is interested in your complete satisfaction. Your dealer
invites you to return for all of your service needs both during and after the
warranty period.
Remember,
if
you have a concern and need help handling
it
to your
satisfaction, see the procedure in the Chevrolet Truck Warranty and Owner
Assistance Information booklet.
Thanks for choosing a Chevrolet product. We value you as a member of the
Chevrolet family. We want to assure you of our continuing interest in your
pleasure and satisfaction with your vehicle.

How
To
Use
This
Manual
Many people read their owner’s manual from beginning to end when they first
receive their new vehicle. This will help you learn about the features and
controls for your vehicle. In this manual, you’ll find that pictures and words
work together to explain things quickly.
INDEX:
A
good place to
look
for what you need is the Index in back of the
manual. It’s an alphabetical list of all that’s in the manual, and the page
number where you’ll find it.
SECTIONS
1-6:
Each section of this manual begins with a brief list of its
contents,
so
you can often find at a glance
if
a section contains the
information you want.
SECTION
7:
This section of this manual covers the maintenance required for
your vehicle.
SECTION
8,
CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE:
This section includes important
information about Reporting Safety Defects and gives you details about the
“Roadside Assistance” program. You will also find customer satisfaction phone
numbers (including customer satisfaction numbers for the hearing and speech
impaired), as well as the mediationlarbitration procedure. We’ve also included
ordering information for service publications in this section.

Vehicle
Damage
Warnings
Also, in this book you will find these blue notices:
In the blue notice area, we tell you about something that can damage your
vehicle. Many times, this damage would not be covered by your warranty, and
it could be costly. But the notice will tell you what to
do
to
help avoid the
damage.
When you read other manuals, you might see CAUTION and NOTICE
warnings in different colors or in different words. In this manual, we’ve used
the familiar words and colors that General Motors has used for years.
You’ll
also see warning labels on your vehicle. They use the same colors,
and the words CAUTION or NOTICE.

Reclining Bucket Seatbacks

If you have this feature, you can adjust the seatback by rotating the knob.
It

dangerous. Even if you buckle up, your safety belts can’t
do
their job
Sitting in a reclined position when your vehicle
is
in motion can be
when you’re reclined like this.
The shoulder belt can’t
do
its job because it won’t be against your
body. Instead,
it
will be in front of you. In a crash you could go into
it, receiving neck or other injuries.
The lap belt can’t
do
its job either. In a crash the belt could go up
over your abdomen. The belt forces would be there, not at your
pelvic bones. This could cause serious internal injuries.
For proper protection when the vehicle is in motion, have the
seatback upright. Then sit well back
in
the seat and wear your safety
I
belt properly.
Rear

Bucket
Seats
If
you
have rear bucket seats in your vehicle, they
will

same way
as
the front manual bucket seats.

Bench
Seats
If
you have bench seats in your vehicle, each seat
can
carry
up
to three
passengers. They can also be removed to increase storage space.

while pulling the seatback toward you. The lever is
on
the right rear of your

in place.
To
raise the seatback, unlock the seat by pushing forward on the
lever. Make sure the seatback is locked when it is put back in the upright
