System Performance
Improvements
M1A2 Abrams SEP (V2)
The M1A2 Abrams Systems Enhancement
Package (V2) upgrade includes improved
processors, color and high-resolution flat
panel displays, increased memory capac-
ity and an open operating system that will
allow for future technology growth. Other
upgrades include the replacement of ther-
mal imaging techniques with a Forward
Looking InfraRed (FLIR) sighting system.
Our contribution to these added benefits is a
rugged COTS PowerPC
®
processor, graphics
and communications products with the latest
microprocessor and display technologies
and significant performance benefits.
Weapons Fire Control
Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)
The MLRS deploys up to 12 rockets in
two six-rocket pods. They may be fired
simultaneously or individually, using an
automated self-loading and aiming system.
The computerized Fire Control System (FCS)
integrates the vehicle and rocket launching
operations. Our products form an integral
part of the FCS. The system allows major
video display enhancements, as well as the
use of on-board GPS navigation and ultra-
fast signal processing algorithms.
Without image fusion, an operator would need to scan multiple screens displaying images from different types of sensors or cameras.
The MLRS is the US Army’s combat proven, high-mobility artillery system.
The Abrams Tank upgrades will integrate new
technologies, reduce future obsolescence
issues and take advantage of improved
processing and display capabilities.
Image Fusion
Our Image Fusion technology enhances
tracking and targeting for operators by
combining inputs from two or more sensors
to create a single, superior image. It offers
intelligent, real-time, full-frame, multi-reso-
lution image fusion which aims to maximize
scene detail and contrast in the fused out-
put, producing superior fused image quality
with maximized information content.
