Warranty Terms & Conditions
1. TEAC warrants to the original retail purchaser only, that this product is free from defects in material and
workmanship under normal domestic use and authorises free service during the warranty period at any
TEAC Authorised Centre only. TEAC warranty only applies to products purchased, used and serviced in
Australia.
2. Subject to the terms herein, this warranty effectively covers the equipment as specified in the Warranty
Periods Table from the date of purchase.
3. All parts, except the external cabinet, are warranted as specified in Warranty Periods Table, and will be
repaired or replaced at the sole judgement of TEAC.
4. Normal customer maintenance as described in the owner’s manual is not covered by this warranty (such as
cleaning VCR heads etc.)
5. This warranty does not apply to equipment showing abuse, damage or that it may have been tampered
with, altered or repaired outside any TEAC Authorised Service Centre. If so, the warranty will be void.

6. In the event that this unit or any defective parts must be returned to TEAC Service Centres, a copy of this
warranty certificate and of your purchase receipt must be enclosed to be a valid warranty. Such
equipment or parts must be sent freight prepaid to the nearest authorised TEAC Service Centre. After the
repair, the unit will be available for collection by the owner or it will be returned to the owner. The
warranty does not cover freight or insurance. In all cases of in-transit damages or loss, a claim must be
filed against the carrier by the purchaser.
7. In home service will only be provided as part of this warranty if all the following conditions are met;
a) The product is a Colour Television of 51cm screen size or over.
b) The product is within the warranty period.
c) The product is located within the normal service area of the local TEAC Service Provider.
In any other situation or circumstance, where an in home service call is made, a service fee will be
charged by the Service Provider.
8. TEAC Total Care in home service and installation is available at competitive rates.
9. No one is authorised to assume any liability on behalf of TEAC or impose any obligation on it, in
connection with the sale of any equipment other than as stated in this warranty and outlined above.
10. In no event will TEAC be responsible or liable for indirect or consequential damages from interrupted
operations or other causes.
11. Warranty is not transferable to any subsequent purchaser if the product is sold during the warranty period,

POWER SOURCE
BATTERY POWER OPERATION
1. Open the BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR by pushing the catches downwards.
2. Install 8 x UM2 batteries carefully as indicated in battery compartment.
3. Close the BATTERY COMPARTMENT DOOR.
AC POWER OPERATION
Connect receptacle end of the mains lead to the AC SOCKET and the plug to an AC outlet.
OPERATION OF UNIT
FUNCTION SWITCH
* Position RADIO for :
- Radio reception
- Recording from radio
* Position CD for :
- Playing compact disc
- Recording from compact disc
* Position TAPE for :
- Switching off the radio and CD
- Cassette playback
SOUND ADJUSTMENT
VOLUME
The level of sound reproduced by loudspeakers or stereo headphones is adjusted by rotating the VOLUME
KNOB.
DBS
When the DBS ON/OFF SWITCH is selected to ON position, the dynamic low frequency ranges are
boosted.
NOTE
During recording, to adjust VOLUME KNOB only affects the monitor sound but not the content of recording.
RADIO OPERATION
RECEPTION OF RADIO PROGRAMME
1. Set the FUNCTION SWITCH to the RADIO position. Set the desired radio band with the BAND
SWITCH.
2. Tune in a desired station by tuning the TUNING KNOB.
3. For FM reception, extend the antenna and adjust the direction, length and angle to have the best
reception.
4. For AM reception, rotate the unit to have the best reception.
5. Adjust the VOLUME KNOB for your desired listening level.
6. To turn off the radio, set the FUNCTION SWITCH to the TAPE / POWER OFF position.
PLAYING COMPACT DISC
- Set FUNCTION SWITCH to CD position.
- Push down the CD DOOR OPEN KNOB to open the CD DOOR. Place a CD into the compact disc
compartment and close the CD DOOR.
- The CD TRACK DISPLAY will show the total number of tracks after a few seconds.

" will be displayed when there is no CD inside the CD compartment.

CD PLAY / PAUSE BUTTON
Press once to start playing the CD, the CD TRACK DISPLAY will show the first track and the CD PLAY /
PAUSE INDICATOR will be lighted on. Press once again to stop playing the CD temporary. The CD PLAY /
PAUSE INDICATOR will be flashing. Press once again to resume playing.
CD STOP BUTTON
Press once to stop playing the CD.
CD NEXT SKIP / SEARCH FORWARD BUTTON
Press once to skip to next track. Press and hold to search for a desired position at high speed forward.
Release the button to resume normal play.
CD BACK SKIP / SEARCH BACKWARD BUTTON
Press once to skip back to the beginning of the current track. Press repeatedly to go to previous track.
Press and hold to search for a desired position at high speed backward. Release the button to resume
normal play.
CD REPEAT BUTTON
- Press once for single track repeat playing and the CD REPEAT INDICATOR will be flashing.
- Press twice for all tracks repeat playing and the CD REPEAT INDICATOR will be lighting.
- To cancel the repeat play mode, press the CD REPEAT BUTTON once or twice until the CD REPEAT
INDICATOR turn off.
To remove the CD from the unit, press CD STOP BUTTON and press once the CD DOOR OPEN KNOB.
Then the CD DOOR will be opened and take out the CD.
To turn off the CD playing, set the FUNCTION SWITCH to TAPE / POWER OFF position.
CD PROGRAM PLAYBACK
Programmed playback enables tracks on a disc to be played in the desired order. Up to 20 tracks can be
programmed.
1. Press once the CD PROGRAM BUTTON, the CD PROGRAM INDICATOR and " 0 1 " will be flashing in
CD TRACK DISPLAY.
2. Press the "CD BACK SKIP / SEARCH BACKWARD" and / or "CD NEXT SKIP / SEARCH FORWARD"
BUTTONS to select the desired track number.
3. Press once the CD PROGRAM BUTTON again to memorize the track.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all desired tracks are programmed.
5. Press the CD PLAY / PAUSE BUTTON to start playing. CD PROGRAM INDICATOR is lightning.
6. Press the CD STOP BUTTON to stop programmed playback.
7. Press the CD PLAY / PAUSE BUTTONS to resume programmed playback.
8. Open the CD DOOR or turn off the CD playing to clear the programmed memory.
9. When in stop mode, press CD STOP button can clear program memories also.
NOTE : Programming can only be made when the CD playing is in stop mode.
RANDOM BUTTON
Press once to enter random playing mode. The number of songs will be played in a random sequence.
Press once more to enter normal playing mode.
CASSETTE TAPE
Open the CASSETTE DOOR by pressing the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT KNOB . Insert the cassette with the
full reel to the right and the tape slot at the top. The cassette fits into the unit only in the correct position.
Close by pushing the top of the CASSETTE DOOR to put the cassette in place. Now the unit is ready to
operate. To play the second track, press the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT KNOB and remove the cassette.
Turn the cassette over and reinsert it as previously.
PLAYBACK
Set the FUCTION SWITCH to the TAPE / POWER OFF position.
1. Press the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON and insert the recorded cassette.
2. Press the CASSETTE PLAY KNOB.
3. Adjust the VOLUME KNOB for your desired sound level.
4. Press the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT KNOB to stop play back at any position. When the tape is
wound completely, the CASSETTE PLAY KNOB will be released automatically.
5. Press CASSETTE PAUSE KNOB to pause tape movement while playing. Release it to resume.

RECORDING
* Press the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT KNOB and insert a blank cassette.
* This unit has an automatic level control (ALC) circuit and does not require any
adjustment of VOLUME KNOB while recording.
* Press the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT KNOB to stop recording at any position
* Press the CASSETTE PAUSE KNOB to pause tape movement. Release it to resume.
* When the tape is wound completely, the CASSETTE REC and PLAY KNOBS will be released
automatically.
(A) RECORDING FROM THE BUILT-IN RADIO
1. Set the FUNCTION SWITCH to the RADIO position. Tune in a desired radio programme as described
in "Reception of Radio Programme".
2. Press the CASSETTE REC and PLAY KNOBS simultaneously.
3. You may want to monitor during recording. You can adjust the sound level with rotating the VOLUME
KNOB. These adjustment do not affect the level of recording.
(B) RECORDING FROM CD
1. Set FUNCTION SWITCH to CD position.
2. Play the CD player as described before.
3. Press the CASSETTE RECORD and PLAY KNOBS simultaneously to start recording.
4. You may want to monitor during recording. You can adjust the sound level with rotating the VOLUME
control. These adjustment do not affect the level of recording.
TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL ERASING
Whenever a recording is made, the sound previously recorded is erased automatically. To protect valuable
recordings from accidental erasing, the unit and cassette are equipped with safety devices. To keep the
recorded material permanently, break out the tabs on the back of cassette with a knife or screw driver. To
protect the top side of the tape from accidental erasing, break out the right side tab. To record on a cassette
from which the tabs have been removed, simply attach adhesive tape over the tab opening. The REC
button will not lock in when a cassette tab has been removed.
MAINTENANCE
To ensure continued high performance from your unit, clean the heads and pinch roller periodically.
Failure to clean these parts will result in inferior sound quality, distortion of recording, deterioration of high
frequency reproduction and inconsistant tape speed.
1. Press the CASSETTE STOP/EJECT KNOB and open the CASSETTE DOOR.
2. Press the CASSETTE PLAY KNOB.
3. Moisten a cotton bud with cleaner or alcohol and apply to the faces of both heads, rubbing gently until
all traces of dirt or oxide are removed. Also clean the surfaces of the pinch roller and the capstan.
4. Dry, clean and polish the faces of the heads with piece of soft cloth.
