Back lights
Back lights for industrial image processing
Operating Instructions
Safety Specifications
‡ Read the operating instructions before starting operation.
‡ Connection, assembly, and settings only by competent
technicians.
‡ Protect optical boundary surfaces against soiling and
damages.
‡ Protect the device against moisture and soiling when
operating.
‡ No safety component in accordance with EU machine
guidelines.
‡ Install the lights in such a way that no unpleasant working
conditions are created.
‡ Persons with dispositions to photosensitive epilepsy should
not look directly into the illuminated area and keep a
distance more than 1 meter if the lighting is operated in flash
operation with 4 to 30 hertz.
Proper Use
The back lights ICL 100 B und ICL 180 B are designed for use

The features of the lights, such as high illumination strength,
intensity, homogeneity, sturdiness, etc., are used to complete
advantage. Customers should provide an appropriate plug
connector.

Pay attention to the connection diagram in B. Trigger =
Trigger input; lighting on at LOW level. Recommended
pulse/pause ratio ≤ 20 %. Connect ICL with connecting
cable. Connect voltage supply, green LED “Power on

lights up.
Recommendation: Operate ICL pulsed.
Without trigger impulse: Lighting on continuously, i.e.,
normal operating life of LEDs.
With trigger impulse: Lighting pulsed, i.e., increased
operating life of LEDs.

Installation:
Attach ICL to at least two of the four M5 throughput
threads. Avoid vibrations. Select the distance of the ICL to
the camera, so that the edges of the object can be
depicted sharply. Consequently, the object is at the nominal
distance of the camera.
Maintenance
SICK back lights do not require any maintenance. We
recommend that you clean the optical boundary surfaces and
check the screw connections and plug-in connections at regular
intervals.
