Put the motorcycle on the center stand so
that the rear wheel barely touches the ground.

Remove the right side cover and the seat.

Remove the lower attachment of the original
shock absorber.
Caution!
When the shock absorber is removed the rear wheel
must be supported.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Warning!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the shock
absorber/front fork/steering damper.
Warning!
If working on a raised vehicle, ensure it is securely
supported so that it will not tip.
Note!
Before mounting this product clean the vehicle
thoroughly.
Note!
When working on this product, always see the Vehicle
Service Manual for vehicle specic procedures and
important data.

Remove the upper attachment and remove
the original shock absorber.

Install the Öhlins shock absorber. The piggy
back reservoir should be at the top and facing
forwards. Install the o-rings and spacers to the
lower attachment, use the original bolt.
Note!
Lift the rear wheel slightly to fasten the lower
attachment.

Install the upper attachment. Use the origi
-
nal bolt.

Attach the preload adjuster to the rear lug
-
gage carrier bracket. Fasten it with the tie-
raps provided in this kit.
Caution!
Make sure the hose to the preload adjuster runs in soft
bends.

Reattach the side cover and the seat.
Note!
Lower the vehicle so that the suspension is slightly
compressed before tightening the screws.
Caution!
Ensure that all screws are tightened to the correct
torque and that nothing fouls or restricts movement of
the shock absorber/front fork/steering damper when the
suspension is fully compressed or extended.
