1. When testing crude sewage add 10 mLsample to each container and make up to 100
mLmark with deionized water. Proceed with the test as described above and multiply
the Permanganate value by 10.
2. When testing settled sewage, add 20 mLsample to each container and make up to
100 mLwith deionized water. Proceed with the test as described above and multiply
the Permanganate value by 5.

Determination of Permanganate Value Test
Fill up three test tubes with
sample to the 100 mL
mark.
Add 2 Acidifying SE
tablet(s). (Into each test
tube.)
Close test tube(s).
Mix the contents by
shaking.
Open the test tube(s). Add 1 Permanganate Value
tablet(s). (Into the first test
tube.)
Add 2 Permanganate
Value tablet(s). (Into the
second test tube.)
Add 3 Permanganate
Value tablet(s). (Into the
third test tube.)
Close test tube(s).
