ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot

Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.

Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS

certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage39.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettoFactoryDefaultSettingsonpage49.

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

TosetthepasswordviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,followthesesteps:

1.ClickUseHTTPS.

Atemporarycerticate(validforoneyear)iscreated,enablingencryptionofalltrafctoandfromtheproduct,andthe

passwordcannowbesetsecurely.

2.Enterapasswordandthenre-enterittoconrmthespelling.

3.ClickOK.Thepasswordhasnowbeencongured.

SetPowerLineFrequency

PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage49)

orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause

imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

Note

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof

theworlduse50Hz.Localvariationscouldapply.Alwayscheckwiththelocalauthorities.

CongureCaptureMode

CapturemodedenesthemaximumresolutionandmaximumframerateavailableintheAxisproduct.Thecapturemodesettingalso

affectsthecamera’sangleofview.

Selectthedesiredcapturemodefromthedrop-downlistandclickOK.

ActionButtons.

Theproduct’sfaniscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically.If

required,thefancanbeactivatedmanuallybyclickingtheFanbutton.Toshowthebutton,goto

Setup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowfanbuttonandspecifythenumberof

minutesthefanshouldbeactivated.

Theproduct’sheateriscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically.

Ifrequired,theheatercanbeactivatedmanuallybyclickingtheHeaterbutton.Toshowthebutton,

gotoSetup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowheaterbuttonandspecifythe

numberofminutestheheatershouldbeactivated.

ClickDividertodisplaypartitionlinesbetweentheimages.Thiscanbeusefulforinstancewhen

identifyingpotentialblindspotsbetweentheimagesduringinstallation.

TheManualTriggerisusedtotriggeranactionrulefromtheLiveViewpage.Themanualtriggercanforexamplebeusedto

validateactionsduringproductinstallationandconguration.

1.GotoSetup>Events.

2.ClickAddtoaddanewactionrule.

3.FromtheTriggerdrop-downlist,selectInputSignal.

4.Fromtheseconddrop-downlist,selectManualTrigger.

5.Selectthedesiredactionandconguretheothersettingsasrequired.

proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheLiveViewpage.

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion

JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace

arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Decidingwhichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof

yournetwork.TheavailableoptionsinAXISMediaControlare:

providesconsistentlygoodimagequalityattheexpenseofincreasedbandwidthandstorageusageinlowlight.Limitingtheframe

sizeoptimizesbandwidthandstorageusage,butmaygivepoorimagequality.Topreventincreasedbandwidthandstorageusage,

Zipstreamisabitrate-reductiontechnologyoptimizedforvideosurveillance.ZipstreamreducestheaveragebitrateintheH.264

streambyremovingunnecessarydataandmakesitpossibletoallowhigherresolutions,reducestoragecostortokeeprecordingsfor

alongertime.Toreducethebitrate,Zipstreamreducesthenumberofbitsintheareasoftheimagethatarelessinterestingfroma

videosurveillanceperspective,forexamplethebackground.Imagedetailsthatareimportantforforensicvideoanalysis,forexample

facesandlicenseplates,arepreservedwithenoughnumberofbits.

FormostscenestheAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum

imagequality.

Iftheimageickersthatcanbecausedbyuorescentlampsorotherlightsources.Toreduceickerintheimage,selecttheFlicker

optionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency.

TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.

Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby

exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause

movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.

Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto

settingcanbeused.

YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare

toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.

TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone.

NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow.

Day/Night

TheIRcutlterpreventsinfrared(IR)lightfromreachingtheimagesensor.Inpoorlightingconditions,forexampleatnight,orwhen

usinganexternalIRlamp,settheIRcutltertoOff.Thisincreaseslightsensitivityandallowstheproductto“see”infraredlight.The

imageisshowninblackandwhitewhentheIRcutlterisoff.

IfusingautomaticExposurecontrol,settheIRcutltertoAutotoautomaticallyswitchbetweenOnandOffaccordingtothe

lightingconditions.

TheDay/Nightshiftlevelbarhelpsdeterminewhenthecamerawillshiftfromdaymodetonightmode.Normally,thecamera

automaticallychangesmodefromdaytonightwhenverydark(level100intheslider).BysettingDay/Nightshiftleveltoa

lowervalue,thecamerawillchangetonightmodeearlier.

AligntheChannelImages

ThelensesintheAxisproductarealignedduringproduction.Howevernetuningoftheimagealignmentmayberequireddepending

on,forinstance,thedistanceswithinthescene.Alsoalargeroverlapbetweentheimageswillguaranteeacompletecoverageof

thewholescenetoalargerextent.
