Troubleshooting
Iftheappliancedoesnotwork,beforecallingforAssistance
(seeAssistance),checkforasolutionfromthefollowinglist.
The internal light does not illuminate.
•Theplughasnotbeeninsertedintotheelectricalsocket,or
notfarenoughtomakecontact,orthereisnopowerinthe
house.
The refrigerator and the freezer do not cool well.
• Thedoorsdonotcloseproperlyorthesealsaredamaged.
• Thedoorsareopenedtoofrequently.
• TheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobisnotinthecorrect
position.
• Therefrigeratororthefreezerhavebeenover-filled.
• Theatmospherictemperatureoftheareasurroundingthe
applianceislowerthan14°C.
The food inside the refrigerator is beginning to freeze.
• TheTEMPERATUREADJUSTMENTknobisnotinthecorrect
position.
• Thefoodisincontactwiththebackinsidewallofthe
refrigerator.
The AIR fan does not rotate
• Therefrigeratordoorisopen.
• TheAIRsystemisonlyactivatedautomaticallywhenit
becomesnecessarytorestoreperfectoperationalconditions
insidetherefrigeratorcompartment.
The motor runs continuously.
• Thedoorisnotclosedproperlyoriscontinuouslyopened.
• Theoutsideambienttemperatureisveryhigh.
• Thethicknessofthefrostexceeds2-3mm(see Maintenance).
The appliance makes a lot of noise.
•Theappliancehasnotbeeninstalledonalevelsurface(see
Installation).
•Theappliancehasbeeninstalledbetweencabinetsthat
vibrateandmakenoise.
•Theinternalrefrigerantmakesaslightnoiseevenwhenthe
compressorisoff.Thisisnotadefect,itisnormal.
Some of the external parts of the refrigerator become hot.
• Theseraisedtemperaturesarenecessaryinorderto
avoidtheformationofcondensationoncertainpartsofthe
product.
The back wall of the refrigerator unit is covered in frost or
droplets of water
•Thisshowstheapplianceisoperatingnormally.
There is water at the bottom of the refrigerator.
•Thewaterdischargeholeisblocked(see Maintenance).
General safety
• Theappliancewasdesignedfordomesticuseinsidethe
homeandisnotintendedforcommercialorindustrialuse.
• Theappliancemustbeusedtostoreandfreezefood
productsbyadultsonlyandaccordingtotheinstructionsin
thismanual.
• Theappliancemustnotbeinstalledoutdoors,evenin
coveredareas.Itisextremelydangeroustoleavethe
applianceexposedtorainandstorms.
• Donottouchtheappliancewithbarefeetorwithwetor
moisthandsandfeet.
• Donottouchtheinternalcoolingelements:thiscouldcause
skinabrasionsorfrost/freezerburns.
• Whenunpluggingtheappliancealwayspulltheplugfrom
themainssocket,donotpullonthecable.
• Beforecleaningandmaintenance,alwaysswitchoffthe
applianceanddisconnectitfromtheelectricalsupply.Itis
notsufficienttosetthetemperatureadjustmentknobson
OFF
(appliance off) to eliminate all electrical contact.
• Inthecaseofamalfunction,undernocircumstancesshould
youattempttorepairtheapplianceyourself.Repairscarried
outbyinexperiencedpersonsmaycauseinjuryorfurther
malfunctioningoftheappliance.
• Donotuseanysharporpointedutensilsorelectrical
equipment-otherthanthetyperecommendedbythe
manufacturer-insidethefrozenfoodstoragecompartments.
• Donotputicecubestakendirectlyfromthefreezerintoyour
mouth.
• Thisapplianceisnotintendedforusebypersons(including
children)withreducedphysical,sensoryorlackof
experienceandknowledgeunlesstheyhavebeengiven
supervisionorinstructionconcerninguseoftheappliance
byapersonresponsiblefortheirsafety.Childrenshould
besupervisedtoensurethattheydonotplaywiththe
appliance.
• Keeppackagingmaterialoutofthereachofchildren!Itcan
becomeachokingorsuffocationhazard.
Disposal
• Observelocalenvironmentalstandardswhendisposing
packagingmaterialforrecyclingpurposes.
• TheEuropeanDirective2002/96/EConWasteElectricaland
ElectronicEquipment(WEEE),requiresthatoldhousehold
electricalappliancesmustnotbedisposedofinthenormal
unsortedmunicipalwastestream.Oldappliancesmust
becollectedseparatelyinordertooptimisetherecovery
andrecyclingofthematerialstheycontainandreducethe
impactonhumanhealthandtheenvironment.Thecrossed
out“wheeledbin”symbolontheproductremindsyouof
yourobligation,thatwhenyoudisposeoftheapplianceit
mustbeseparatelycollected.Consumersshouldcontact
theirlocalauthorityorretailerforinformationconcerningthe
correctdisposaloftheiroldappliance.
Respecting and conserving the
environment
• Installtheapplianceinafreshandwell-ventilatedroom.
Ensurethatitisprotectedfromdirectsunlightanddonot
placeitnearheatsources.
• Trytoavoidkeepingthedooropenforlongperiodsor
openingthedoortoofrequentlyinordertoconserveenergy.
• Donotfilltheappliancewithtoomuchfood:coldair
mustcirculatefreelyforfoodtobepreservedproperly.
Ifcirculationisimpeded,thecompressorwillwork
continuously.
• Donotplacehotfooddirectlyintotherefrigerator.The
internaltemperaturewillincreaseandforcethecompressor
toworkharderandwillconsumemoreenergy.
• Defrosttheapplianceificeforms(see Maintenance).Athick
layeroficemakescoldtransferencetofoodproductsmore
difficultandresultsinincreasedenergyconsumption.
• Regularlycheckthedoorsealsandwipecleantoensure
theyarefreeofdebrisandtopreventcoldairfromescaping
(see Maintenance).
