PR-1000HD Version 1.1 Main Features
Support for DV Format
Support has been added for capturing from DV devices and importing and playing DV stream files
(.dv).
Multi-format playback is supported in addition to the already supported HDV playback.
* When capturing DV materials, they are automatically converted to intra frame Compression (Intra Frame
Only) MPEG2.
Support for Importing Still Images
Support added for importing and playing JPEG and BMP files. The imported still image is output by
setting the playback duration. Multi-format playback is supported in addition to the already
supported HDV and with newly supported DV playback.
* When still images are imported, they are converted to YUV 4:2:0, 1920 x 1440 (4:3) pixels.
Support for Importing Uncompressed AVI Files
Uncompressed AVI files (.avi) generated by a PC can be loaded.
* AVI materials imported from a PC are automatically converted to intra frame Compression (Intra Frame
Only) MPEG2.
Support for Intra Frame Only MPEG2 Playback
Support added for intra frame compression (Intra Frame Only) MPEG2 Playback as an internal format.
Because Intra Frame Only MPEG2 can be played frame by frame, playback control is more accurate
than other inter frame compression materials, such as HDV.
The PR-1000HD converts HDV materials to Intra Frame Only MPEG2. Newly captured HDV material is
converted to Intra Frame Only MPEG2 while being captured, and HDV material that is already
captured can be converted to Intra Frame Only MPEG2.
* When importing DV or AVI materials, they are automatically converted to Intra Frame Only MPEG2.
Changes in the User Interface
Because of the changes mentioned above, the display contents for Play Mode and Edit Mode have
changed.
Version 1.1 Main Feature
Specifications for Intra Frame Only MPEG2 converted from HD materials
1080i
1440 x 1080 YUV420 MPEG2 Intra Frame Only 50 Mbps
720p
1280 x 720 YUV420 MPEG2 Intra Frame Only 50 Mbps
Specifications for Intra Frame Only MPEG2 converted from SD materials
480i or 576i (NTSC or PAL)
720 x 480 or 720 x 576 YUV420 MPEG2 Intra Frame Only 25 Mbps
When materials are imported as
Intra Frame Only MPEG2, an
amount of storage space
equivalent to about twice or
triple the size of the original
HDV/DV material is required. You
should always check to make
sure that you have enough free
space remaining on the
removable hard disk drive.
To restore a removable hard disk
that has been converted for
version 1.1 to a previous version,
it must be initialized with the
version 1.1 utility. Perform
initialization by selecting the
“Initialize to older version”
option from “Initialize.”
However, please be aware that
data saved on the removable
hard disk drive will be lost in
this case.
Removable hard disk drive compatibility with previous versions
PR-1000HD version 1.1 is designed with many significant function enhancements as well as
significant improvements for project management. For this reason, the removable hard disk drive
to be used must be converted for version 1.1.
* Data stored on the HDD-250 will not be lost due to the conversion.
To convert the removable hard disk drive for version 1.1, insert the removable hard disk drive into
the version 1.1 PR-1000HD and start it up. After startup, follow the displayed messages to convert
the removable hard disk drive. (The message does not display for removable hard disk drives that
have already been converted.)
* Removable hard disk drives that have been converted for version 1.1 are not recognized on older
PR-1000HD versions. Please update your PR-1000HD to version 1.1.

Output Resolution
The following shows the output resolutions that can be used.
*1: 1080/59.94p or 50p can be output in DVI-D only.
De-interlace Setting
When de-interlace setting is set to off and 1080/59.94i or 50i material is played, either interlace
playback or progressive playback is used depending on the output resolution selection. For 1080/
59.94i or 50i output, interlace playback is used. For 1080/59.94p or 50p and 720/59.94p or 50p output,
it is converted to progressive. For other output resolutions, playback is with 29.94p or 25p without
canceling interlace.
When de-interlace setting is on, playback blends even-numbered and odd-numbered fields using
29.94p or 25p.
* When de-interlace setting is off with 1080i, 1080p, or 720p, you cannot confirm how effects, such as fade or
color adjustment, are applied on the “Video Output Monitor” on the operation screen. However, the final
output from the main unit will reflect the effects.
Blurring of Paused Video when De-interlace is off
When using interlace during playback or when converting interlace materials to progressive, blurring
can be observed when playback is paused. You can display without blurring by displaying only one
field. A menu selection to achieve this is displayed on the Video Output Monitor by right-clicking.
Display while fade is applied
When fade is applied during playback in Play Mode, the periphery of the Video Output Monitor is lit
red while the effect is being applied.
Setting In-points and Out-points for the HDV clip
Because HDV materials are inter frame compression materials, the first several frames and the last few
frames may not play properly. When loading materials, please capture not only the required scene,
but extra material on either side. To play back only the required scene, be sure to properly set the in-
point and out-point on the PR-1000HD.
Playing the first and last portions of HDV materials
Because HDV materials are inter frame compression materials, the first two frames and the last
number of frames may not play properly. For this reason, the start frame for the material shown in Edit
Mode is displayed as 00:00:00:02, and the end frame occurs before the actual end of the loaded
material.
Playback speed operations during playback
If the playback speed slider is used during playback of video in Play Mode, the video may appear
distorted. The same also applies to changing the playback speed during playback using remote
control via MIDI or RS-232C.
When Copying Materials over a Network
When copying material to this unit over a network, please be sure to confirm there is enough free
space on the removable hard disk drive. This is because when loading materials over a network, the
original file is first copied to the drive, and then a data file that can be used on this unit is generated. In
particular, when converting materials to Intra Frame Only materials, in addition to the space required
for copying the original material, twice as much free space is required.
Other cautions
Materials of less than one second cannot be loaded.
Please do not capture from video tapes that have several formats mixed together; capture will not
perform properly on such tapes.
The drop frame of the video output might happen because of the audio and video synchronization.
