A.
General
Information
presented
in
this
manual and
on
various
labels,
tags,
and
plates
on
the
unit
pertains
to
equipment
design,
installation,
operation,
maintenance,
and
troubleshooting
which
should
be
read,
understood,
and
followed
forthe
safe
and
effective
use
of
this
equipment.

Safety
The
installation,
operation,
maintenance,
and
troubleshooting
of
arc
welding
equipment
requires
practices
and
procedures
which
ensure
personal
safety
and
the
safety
of
others.
Therefore,
this
equipment
is
to
be
installed,
operated,
and
maintained
only
by
qualified
persons
in
accordance
with
this
manual
and
all
applicable
codes
such
as,
but
not
limited
to,
those
listed
at
the
end
of
Section
1

Before
unpacking
equipment,
check
carton
for
any
damage
that
may
have
occurred
during
shipment.
File
any
claims
for
loss
or
damage
with
the
delivering
carrier.
Assistance
for
filing
or
settling
claims

distributor
and/or
the
equipment
manufacturers

this

Distribution
panels
are
used
to
connect
a
group
of
grids
and
grid
racks
to
a
wedng
powerdistnbution
system
(or
loop).
Distribution
Panel
8
models
are
equipped
with
female
twistlock
receptacles
for
connecting
up
to
eight
individual
grids.
Distribution
Panel
10
models
are
equipped
with
female
twistlock
receptacles
for
connecting
up
to
eight
individual
grids
and
two
500
MCM
male
receptacles
for
connecting
two
multi-grid
racks.
Models
differ
in
the
type
of
receptacles
provided
(see
Table
1-1).

Lugs

Shut
down
welding
power

disconnect
input

distribution
panel
in
desired
location
using
mounting
holes
in
unit
and
1/4
in.
(6.4
mm)
customer
supplied
hardware.

Remove
access
cover
(see
Figure
2-1).

Remove
one
of
the
blanks
from
the
access
holes
in
top
of
distribution
panel,
and
install
supplied
snap
bushing
or
desired
strain
relief,
conduit
titling,
or
other
similar
device.
2.
Strip
end
of
input
cable,
and
route
cable
through
access
hole.
Insert
cable
into
lug,
and
tighten
setscrew.
3.
Connect
paralleling
bar
across
the
front
of
bus
bars
using
existing
hardware
as
illustrated
in
Figure
2-1.
4.
Reinstall
access
cover.
Tighten
input
cable
strain
relief,
it
applicable.

Remove
the
blanks
from
the
access
holes
in
top
of
distribution
panel,
and
install
supplied
snap
bushing
or
desired
strain
reliefs,
conduit
fittings,
or
other
similar
devices.
NOTE:
Straight
polarity
usd
for
purpose
of
illustration
only.
2.
Strip
the
ends
of
the
Positive
and
Negative
input
cables,
and
route
through
the
appropriate
access
holes.
Insert
each
cable
into
the
appropriate
lug,
and
tighten
setscrews.
3.
Reinstall
access
cover.
Tighten
input
cable
strain
relief,
if
applicable.
4.
Affix
POSITIVE
and
NEGATIVE
labels
on
connection
panel
as
illustrated
in
Figure
2-3
to
match
the
polarity
of
the
input
cables.
5.
Make
output
connections
from
distribution
panel
to
grids
and
grid
racks,
if
applicable
(see
Figure
23).
