3. Before you start
3.1. Power connection
1. Install the viewing angle stand on the backside of the adapter. You can select between „Lower
view angle“ (62°) and „Higher view angle“ (70°).
2. Connect the power supply into the socket on the back of the adapter and place the cable
antenna to a free space to obtain the maximum signal strength.
3. Connect the RCA audio cable with the Audio Out socket of the Albrecht DR 53 and the other end
to a suitable audio output device like home stereo system, active speakers, etc.
4. Plug the power supply into the mains power wall socket.
5. The adapter starts automatically and performs a full scan of the DAB+ band the rst time it is
used.
6. When scanning is complete, the radio will select the rst available station and begin the
playback. By default, stations are sorted rst by numbers and then by letter.
7. Press the button to put the adapter into standby.
4. Basic functions
4.1. Adjusting the volume
Use the volume keys / on the remote control to adjust the volume.
4.2. MENU navigation
Use the arrow keys ▲/▼ to scroll through the MENUs
Move to the next sub MENU by pressing OK
Go back to the previous MENU by pressing BACK
4.3. Change mode between DAB+, FM and Bluetooth
Press the MODE button on the remote control or at the top side of the adapter to switch between
DAB+ / FM / Bluetooth mode

5. Main Menu
Press the Home button on the remote control to enter the main menu.
You can select between DAB, Favourite List, FM, Bluetooth, Settings and Alarm.
6. DAB+ Mode
If you are not already in DAB mode, press the MODE button.
The rst time you use the adapter, it will automatically begin a full scan of all available DAB+ radio
stations. A progress bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found.
If you were listening to a DAB station when you switched the radio off, this station will automatically
start playing again once you switch the radio back on.
6.1. Saving a DAB Station as Favourite
Your radio can store up to 60 favourite stations in its memory for quick access. The favourite list can
be mixed with DAB and FM stations.
1. Tune the Radio to the DAB radio station that you wish to save
2. Press and hold the (Favourite) button for about 2 seconds until the list of favourites appears
3. Select a memory slot
4. Press OK to conrm your selection
NOTE: If the selected memory is already occupied by a different radio station, it will be overwritten
when you store the new station.
6.2. Recall a Favourite Station
1. Press the (Favourite) button, select the desired station and conrm with OK
2. Alternatively you can select Favourites 1-10 directly with the key numbers on the remote control
6.3. Changing DAB stations
Use the arrow keys ▲/▼ to open the complete station list. Select the desired station with ▲/▼ and
conrm with OK.

6.4. Scanning for new DAB stations
It is recommended to scan for new available stations from time to time. Especially when you have
moved your radio to a different geographical region.
Go to the MENU and select Full Scan to start a scan. The display will change to ‘Scanning...’. A
progress bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found during the scan
will also be displayed.
Alternatively you can select Manual tune if you know the frequency of the desired station.
6.5. Station Order
Select if your station list should be sorted by Multiplex, Alphanumeric or Active order.
6.6. Dynamic Range Control (DRC)
If you are listening to music with a high dynamic range in a noisy environment, you may wish to
compress the audio dynamic range. This makes quiet sounds louder, and loud sounds quieter.
Press MENU and select DRC. There are 3 levels of compression:
DRC off - no compression. This is the default setting.
DRC low - medium compression.
DRC high - maximum compression.
Note: This function is only working correctly if the radio station is supporting this feature.
6.7. Prune Station (clean the station list)
This option removes the DAB stations in the station list that cannot be received in your area
(anymore). These are listed with a ‘?’ prex.
6.8. DAB Display Information
When listening to a DAB station you can change the information that will appear on the display.
There are several different types of information that are sent by the broadcaster. Repeatedly short
press the INFO button to cycle through the different information options.
6.8.1. DAB-Slideshow
The Albrecht DR 53 is also able to show the DAB slideshow transmitted by the broadcasters. The
pictures shown in the slideshow contain different information from album cover, weather information
or pictures from the broadcasting studio. The content depends on the radio station.
When the slideshow is available you can select between different views by clicking OK repeatedly.

7. FM Mode
If you are not already in FM mode, press the MODE button to go to FM mode.
The rst time you use the adapter, it will automatically begin a full scan of all available FM radio
stations.
If you were listening to a FM station when you switched the radio off, then this station will
automatically be selected when you switch the radio back on.
7.1. Manual Tuning of a FM station
Use the arrow keys ◄ / ► to change the current frequency in 0.05 MHz steps. Press and hold the
arrow keys to start an automatic scan until the next available station is found.
For an automatic scan of FM stations see chapter „7.5.2. Automatic scan for FM stations“ on page
21.
7.2. Saving a FM station as Favourite
Your radio can store up to 60 radio stations in its preset memories for quick access. The favourite
list can be mixed with DAB and FM stations.
1. Tune the Radio to the FM radio station that you wish to save
2. Press and hold the (Favourite) button for about 2 seconds until the station list appears
3. Select the desired memory slot
4. Press OK to conrm your selection
NOTE: If the selected memory is already occupied by a different radio station, it will be overwritten
when you store the new station.
7.3. Recalling a Favourite station

7.5. FM Menu
Press the MENU button on the remote controll and select a sub-menu.
7.5.1. Station List
Scroll through the station list with ▲/▼ and select a frequency with OK.
7.5.2. Automatic scan for FM stations
Automatically scan through the complete FM band to nd all available stations. The stations will be
saved in your station list.
7.5.3. Scan Treshold
There are two different options to choose from:
1. Strong stations - The scan will only stop when a strong signal strength is received which should
also result in a better audio quality. It is possible that the station you are scanning for may be
missed using this option.
2. All stations - The scan will stop for every station it receives, even if the signal strength is poor.
7.5.4. Audio Setting
The radio will automatically switch between Stereo and Mono, depending on the quality of the signal
being received but you can override this function and manually switch between Forced Mono and
Stereo Allowed.
8. Bluetooth
To switch to Bluetooth mode, press MODE on the remote control or on the top side of the adapter
and select Bluetooth.
Then enable Bluetooth on your mobile device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, etc.), search for active
devices and connect to “Albrecht DR 53”.
If the radio is successfully connected, music can now be streamed to the adapter. Thanks to the
newest Bluetooth chip ISSC supporting ID3 installed inside the unit, the song information from your
mobile device will be displayed on the screen of the adapter.
If the adapter is paired with a mobile device and you would like to connect the DR53 to a different
phone, just press the BT PAIR button on the remote. The current Bluetooth connection is
disconnected and you can now pair another mobile device with the adapter.

9. Alarm Settings
9.1. Setting an Alarm
1. Go to the main menu and select Alarm
2. Select between Alarm 1 and Alarm 2 and conrm with OK.
Now you can set the following alarm options:
Alarm: Select between Off, Daily, Once, Weekdays or Weekends
Time: use the arrow keys ▲/▼ to set the alarm time
Mode: select if the alarm should sound as Buzzer or DAB/FM station
Save: do not forget to Save your alarm settings at the end
Once the alarm is set correctly the alarm symbol is shown in the display.
9.2. Stop the alarm
Once the alarm started, you can turn it off by pressing the Standby button. Press any other
button to start the snooze alarm. It will start an alarm again after 5 minutes. The adapter shows a
countdown timer with the remaining time until the next alarm.
10. System Settings
Press MENU and then select System settings.
10.1. Time and Date
The rst time you listen to DAB radio the device will automatically update the time and date. If you
do wish to set the time and date manually, follow the steps below.
Select MENU / System settings / Time Setup. You can now choose:
1. Set time: manually change the Time and Date with the arrow keys ▲/▼ and confirm with OK
2. Clock Format: set time format to 12 or 24 hours
3. Auto Update: select if the time should automatically be updated From Radio or if you prefer
No Update automatically.
10.2. Sleeptimer
Go to the main menu or press on the remote control.
In the Sleeptimer menu select the time after which the adapter should turn off automatically. Select
the desired time by pressing ▲/▼ and conrm your selection with OK.
You can select between Off/15/30/45/60/75/90/105/120 minutes.
10.3. Equalizer
Choose an equalizer setting. You can select between these preset EQs:
Normal, Classic, Pop, Jazz, Rock, Flat, Movie or News.
10.4. Backlight
On Level: select the illumination level of the backlight during radio operation (Low / Medium /
High). You can also press the DIMMER button on the remote control to change the On Level
quickly.
Time Out: when setting the timeout, the backlight will automatically dimmed down if the
adapter is not accessed for any operation during the set time. You can select between Always
On/10/20/30/45/60/90/120/180 seconds.

10.5. Language
Select an language for the MENU of the adapter. You can select between 5 languages:
English, Deutsch, Francais, Italiano, Espanol
The currently selected language is marked by „“.
10.6. Clock Face
Select the style of the clock shown on the standby screen.
10.7. Factory Reset
Here you can reset the adapter to the factory settings.
ATTENTION: If you perform the factory reset, all your saved favourites will be deleted!
10.8. Software Version
Here you can check the currently installed software version of the adapter

12. Warranty and Recycling Information
2-Year Warranty from Date of Purchase
The manufacturer/retailer guarantees this product for two years from date of purchase. This warranty
includes all malfunctions caused by defective components or incorrect functions within the warranty
period excluding wear and tear, such as exhausted batteries, scratches on the display, defective
casing, broken antenna and defects due to external effects such as corrosion, over voltage through
improper external power supply or the use of unsuitable accessories. Defects due to unintended
use are also excluded from the warranty.
Please contact your local dealer for warranty claims. The dealer will repair or exchange the product
or forward it to an authorized service centre. You can also contact our service partner directly.
Please include your proof of purchase with the product and describe the malfunction as clearly as
possible.
12.1. WEEE and Recycling
The European laws do not allow any more the disposal of old or defective electric or
electronic devices with the household waste. Return your product to a municipal
collection point for recycling to dispose of it. This system is nanced by the industry and
ensures environmentally responsible disposal and the recycling of valuable raw materials.
