1, Attachsparkplugwiretosparkplug,Makecertainthe
metalloopon theend ofthesparkplugwire(inside
therubberboot)isfastenedsecurelyoverthe metal
tiponthesparkplug,
2, Makecertainboththeaugercontrolanddrivecontrol
areinthedisengaged(released)position,
3, Movethrottlecontrolupto FASTposition,Insert
ignitionkeyintoslot,Makesureitsnapsintoplace,
Donotattempttoturnthekey,
NOTE:Theenginecannotstartunlessthekeyis
insertedintoignitionswitch,
Electric Starter
1, Determinethatyourhome'swiringisa three-wire
groundedsystem,Ask a licensedelectricianifyouare
notcertain,
WARNING: The optionat electric
starter is equipped with a
grounded three-wire power cord
and plug, and is designed to op-
erate on 120 volt AC household
current, it must be used with a
properly grounded three-prong
receptacle at all times to avoid
the possibility of electric shock.
Follow all instructionscarefully
prior to operating the electric
starter.

asfollows:
1, Plugtheextensioncordintotheoutletlocatedon the
engine'ssurface,Plugtheotherendofextensioncord
intoa three-prong120-volt,grounded,ACoutletina
wellwentilatedarea,
2, RotatechokecontroltoFULLchokeposition(fora
coldenginestart),
NOTE:If theengineisalreadywarm,placechokecontrol
in theOFFpositioninsteadofFULL,
3, Pushtheprimertwoor threetimesforcoldengine
start,makingsuretocoverventholein thecenterof
theprimerwhenpushing,
NOTE:DONOTuseprimertorestarta warmengine
aftera shortshutdown,
4, Pushstarterbuttontostartengine,
5, Oncetheenginestarts,immediatelyreleasestarter
button,
6, Astheenginewarms,slowlyrotatethechokecontrol
to theOFFposition,Iftheenginefalters,quicklyrotate
thechokecontrolbackto FULLandthenslowlyinto
theOFFpositionagain,
7, Whendisconnectingtheextensioncord,always
unplugtheend atthethree-prongwalloutletbefore
unpluggingtheoppositeendfromthesnowthrower,
Recoil Starter
1, Rotatechokecontrolto FULLchokeposition(cold
enginestart),
NOTE:If theengineisalreadywarm,placechokecontrol
intheOFFpositioninsteadof FULL,
2, Pushtheprimertwoor threetimesforcoldengine
start, makingsuretocoverventholeinthecenterof
the primerwhenpushing,
NOTE:DONOTuseprimerto restarta warmengine
aftera shortshutdown,
NOTE:Additionalprimingmaybe necessaryifthe
temperatureis below15° Fahrenheit,
3, Grasptherecoilstarterhandleandslowlypullthe
ropeout,Atthepointwhereit becomesslightlyharder
to pulltherope,slowlyallowtheropetorecoil
4, Pullthestarterhandlewitha firm,rapidstroke,Donot
releasethehandleandallowittosnapback,Keepa
firm holdon thestarterhandleandallowitto slowly
recoil
5, Astheenginewarms,slowlyrotatethechokecontrol
to theOFFposition,Iftheenginefalters,quicklyrotate
thechokecontrolbackto theFULLpositionandthen
slowlyintotheOFFpositionagain,
NOTE:Allowtheenginetowarmupforafew minutes
afterstarting,Theenginewillnotdevelopfullpoweruntil
itreachesoperatingtemperatures,
Stopping The Engine
Runenginefora fewminutesbeforestoppingtohelpdry
off anymoistureon theengine,
Tohelppreventpossiblestarterfreeze=up,proceedas
follows:
E_ectric Starter
1, Connectextensioncordtotheelectdcstarteroutlet
on theengine,thento 120voltACoutlet,
2, Withtheenginerunning,pushthestarterbuttonand
allowthestarterforspinforseveralseconds,The
noisemadebythestarterisnormal Theengine's
starterisnotbeingharmed,
3, Whendisconnectingtheextensioncord,always
unplugtheend atthethree-prongwalloutletbefore
unpluggingtheoppositeendfromthesnowthrower,
4, MovethrottlecontroltoSTOPposition,
5, Removetheignitionkey,
