Machine Installation
Place the machine in its permanent location. If it is a floor
model, the first step is to level the unit by either loosening
the bolts by the feet, leveling the unit, and retightening the
bolts, or turning the foot casters to level the unit.
The next step is to route the film. For all Energy Smart
models the film roll sits in between the two thick rollers and
the film comes off the top of the roll and down under the
middle and front rollers. Reference the film routing guide on
the right side of the machine or as indicated on the back of
this guide.
Next, plug it in and turn it on (1). The red light located to the
right on the front of the unit will glow red. If the red light isn’t
on, press the test and reset button on the GFCI (2) and the
two circuit breakers (3) located on the back of the electrical

Wrapping Food Packages
The seal plate (C) is only active when a package is seen by the photo eye (D). The light next to the photo eye (E) will illuminate
when you activate the heating cycle. This light will glow yellow as the seal plate is heating and then red when the plate reaches
350° F, sealing temperature. Make sure you leave the package on the seal plate until the light turns red. The hot plate will
automatically turn off when the heat cycle is over.
In order to reactivate the heating cycle, the package must be removed from the photo eye field, and re-introduced.
Note: The light next to the photo eye glows every time you have activated a heating cycle.
*On HWS-4-ES, the GFCI is located is in the outlet on the back left frame leg.
The hot rod (A) requires 10 minutes to warm up in order to reach a cutting temperature of 275° F.
The small black knob on the right side of the cradle rollers is for film tension control (B). Turn the knob clockwise to tighten the
tension and counterclockwise to loosen.
