Before starting the engine, read the oper-
ating instructions and note:
Warning
This symbol marks all paragraphs in these
operating instructions which concern your
safety. Pass all safety instructions to other
users and operators.
Due Use
The planetary mowing drive has exclusively
been designed for all common applications
and tasks in agriculture, forestry, and grass
and park maintenance (due use).
Any other type of operation is considered
undue. The manufacturer is not liable for
any damage resulting from undue use, for
which the risk lies with the user alone.
Due use includes compliance with manu-
facturer’s instructions on operation, main-
tenance and repair.
Any unauthorized changes to the power
mower render manufacturer liability null and
void.
General Instructions on
Safety and Accident
Prevention
Basic Rule:
The standard accident prevention regula-
tions must be adhered to, as well as all other
generally accepted rules governing
operational safety, occupational health and
road traffic regulations.
For drives on public roads, the latest traffic
code applies.
Accordingly, check the power mower for
road and operational safety each time you
take up operation.
Only persons familiar with the power mower
and instructed on the hazards of operation
are allowed to use, maintain and repair the
power mower.
Young persons of 16 years or younger are
not permitted to operate the power mower!
Only work in good light and visibility.
Operator’s clothes should fit tightly. Avoid
wearing loosely fitting clothes. Wear solid
shoes.
Note the warning and instruction signs on
the power mower for safe operation. Com-
pliance is for your own safety.
When transporting the power mower on ve-
hicles or trailers outside the area to be cul-
tivated, ensure that the engine is shut off.
Careful with rotating tools – keep at a safe
distance!
Beware of coasting tools. Before you start
any maintenance or repair on them, wait
until tools have come to a complete stop.
Foreign powered parts shear and squeeze!
Riding on the attachment during operation
is not permitted.
Implements and weights influence the driv-
ing, steering, braking, and tip-over charac-
teristics of the power mower. Therefore,
ensure steering and braking functions are
sufficient. Match operating speed to
conditions.
Do not change settings of governor. High
engine speed increases risk of accidents.
Working Area and
Hazardous Area
The user is liable to third parties working
within the power mower’s working range.
Staying in the hazardous area is not per-
mitted.
Check the immediate surroundings of the
power mower before you start it. Watch out
for children and animals.
Before you start work, clear the area from
any foreign object. During operation, always
watch out for further objects and remove
them in time.
For operation in enclosed areas, ensure
that a safety distance is kept to enclosures
to prevent damage to tools.
Operation and Safety Devices
Before You Start the Engine
Become familiar with the devices and
operating elements and their functions.
Above all, learn how to turn the engine
off quickly and safely in an emergency
situation.
Ensure that all protective devices are
mounted and positioned to provide pro-
tection.
With no implement mounted, make sure
PTO-shaft is covered with the protective
cap.
Starting the Engine
Do not start engine in closed rooms. The
carbon monoxide contained in the exhaust
fume is extremely toxic when inhaled.
Before you start the engine set all operat-
ing elements to neutral or idling position.
For starting the engine, do not step in front
of the power mower and the implement.
Do not use assist-starting liquids when
using electrical assist-starting devices
(jumper cable). Danger of explosion.
Operation
Never leave the operator’s position at the
steering handle while power mower is at
work.
Never adjust the operating handles during
work – danger!
For all works with the power mower, in par-
ticular for turning, the machine operator
must keep the distance to the machine
given by the steering handles.
Riding on the implement during operation
or in transport is not permitted.
If clogging occurs in the cutting tools in the
implement, shut off the engine and clean
cutting tools or implement with an appro-
priate tool.
In case of damage to the power mower or
to the implement, immediately shut off the
engine and have it repaired.
If steering causes problems, immediately
bring the power mower to a halt and turn
it off. Have the malfunction removed with-
out delay.
If on slopes there is the risk of slipping, the
power mower must be kept in position with
a rod or a rope by a second person. The
accompanying person must stay above the
vehicle at a suitable distance to the working
tools.
If possible, always work across the slope.

chocks).
Beware of injuries while coupling imple-
ments. Work with particular care.
Hitch implements as specified and only cou-
ple at specified points.
Secure power mower and implement
against unauthorized use and rolling off
when you leave the machine. If necessary,
install transport or security devices and
secure.
Mowing Implement
Handle with care! Sharp blades of the cut-
ter bar may cause injuries! Remove knife
guards only for mowing and refit immedi-
ately after work has finished.
For transport and storage always mount the
knife guards. Secure finger bars addition-
ally with tension springs.
Do not transport the dismounted cutter bar
without knife guards.
When mounting and dismounting the cut-
ter bar, make sure all blades are protected
by the knife guards.
To exchange the knife and to mount/dis-
mount the knife driver, make sure that you
turn screws away from cutting blades.
For grinding the mowing knives, always
wear safety goggles and gloves.

Fit weights properly and at specified points.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Never carry out any maintenance or clean-
ing with the engine running.
Before you work on the engine, always re-
move spark plug connector (only for petrol
engines).
Check regularly and, if necessary, replace
all protecting devices and tools subject to
wear and tear.
Replace damaged cutting tools.
Always wear safety gloves and use proper
tools when exchanging cutting tools.
Do not carry out repairs like welding, grind-
ing, drilling, etc. on structural and safety-
relevant parts (e.g. hitch)!
Keep power mower and implement clean
to avoid risk of fire.
Check nuts and bolts regularly for tight fit
and re-tighten, if necessary.
Ensure that you re-install all safety and pro-
tective devices and bring them into their pro-
tective position after maintenance and
cleaning.
Only use original agria spare parts. All other
commercial spare parts must correspond
to quality and technical requirements speci-
fied by agria.

Upon first starting up and upon every
knife change after about 15–30 working
minutes and then always after 4 operat-
ing hours, retighten all bolts at the mo-
wing drive and the cutter bar (in particular
at the bar fastening point, the knife driver
and the mowing drive connection).
5.1 Planetary Mowing Drive
Prior to every starting and always after
8 operating hours, lubricate crank stone
at the grease nipple, until a grease collar
emerges towards the crank cheek – pro-
tection against entering of water and dirt
Always after 50 operating hours (4 stro-
kes with hand-lever grease gun)
Lubricate floating bearing always after
50 operating hours, until a grease collar
emerges from the neck end - protection
against entering of water and dirt.
Exclusively use lithium-saponified greases

Glisando EP2; ARAL HL2 or LF2; ESSO
Beacon EP2
5.2 Knife Driver with
Exchangeable Distance Plates
Gap between crank stone and knife driver
in new condition max. 0.3 mm. If the gap
is > 0.5 mm, replace one of the two
distance plates, and, the next time, ex-
change distance plate on opposite side.
I
Fastening bolts M 6x16 must not
protrude to the inside.
5.3 Cleaning
Cutter bar
After every mowing application, immedi-
ately and thoroughly clean the cutter bar
with water. Here, the mowing knife must
be dismantled so that the dirt, in particu-
lar the dirt accumulated between the knife
blades, can be removed. All sliding parts
must then be greased with Bio lube oil or
Bio grease.
W
Mount knife guard!
Mowing drive and machine
After cleaning with a high-pressure
cleaner, immediately lubricate the rocker
arm support at the mowing drive and the
other lubricating points and shortly oper-
ate the mowing drive so that the entered
water is pressed out. To protect the
bearings against penetrating dirt, sap and
water, there shall be a grease collar at the
bearing points.

ing and moving parts with
bio-lubricating grease and
bio-lubrication oil.
5.5 Storage
For longer periods of no operation pre-
pare machine for storage. Proceed as
follows:
clean thoroughly
repair paint coat
grease base machine and mower and
operate them for a short time

5.6 Cutter Bar
I
Maintenance and care
see enclosed operating
instructions for cutter bar.
Grinding the Mowing Knives
Wear safety goggles and gloves!
After 4–20 operating hours, depend-
ing on the wear on the knives, these
become dull and regrinding is neces-
sary.
For this purpose, we recommend us-
ing a hand grinder of 15,000 – 20,000
rpm with a pot-shaped grinding pin of
25 mm in diameter and approx. 35 mm
in length or a special grinding tool.
I
Grinding the knives is essential
for a clean and smooth opera-
tion.
Grinding is done using the front of
the grinding pin only, guiding it from the
back of the knife to the tip of the blade.
Blades must not heat in the process.
They are destroyed when they turn blue
(glowed out and soft).
Do not round off the blade tips (P).
Do not grind the blades in a curve
(P).
Use a grinding stone to remove any
burr.
