es. This assembly is intended for use in quantitative fit testing
only and is not NIOSH approved. Use in hazardous atmospheres can
result in serious personal injury or death.
ASSEMBLY
To install the probe assembly in an Advantage 1000 and/or Millennium
Facepieces, unthread the retaining ring from the speaking diaphragm
receptacle in the front of the facepiece. The enclosed wrench can be
used if needed. Remove the speaking diaphragm or the plastic disc
from the receptacle, making sure that the gasket remains in the recep-
tacle. Place the probe assembly in the receptacle with the probe point-
ing outwards. Thread the retaining ring and tighten to a snug fit, mak-
ing sure that the gasket and probe assembly remained seated properly.
Note: If you have an Advantage 1000 Facepiece with the ESP
®
device
installed, you will need to obtain a retaining ring P/N 805111 to use this
probe assembly. The gasket included with this probe assembly kit is only
for use on the Advantage 1000 Facepiece. On the Millennium Facepiece,
the nosecup serves as the gasket.
OPERATION
Don the facepiece and perform a tightness test according to the respi-
rator instructions included with the facepiece. Connect the sampling
tube from the fit testing device to the facepiece probe. Make certain
all connections are secure. Proceed according to the directions for the
fit testing device.
1. Use strictly in accordance with instructions, labels and limita-
tions pertaining to the facepiece.
2. Never alter or modify the probe assembly.
3. For use by trained, qualified personnel only.
4. Do not use a sampling rate in excess of 10 lpm.
Failure to follow the above cautions can result in inaccurate fit
test results.
DISASSEMBLY
Unthread the retaining ring from the receptacle in the front of the face-
piece. Remove probe assembly from the receptacle, making sure that
the gasket remains in the receptacle. Place into the receptacle either
the speaking diaphragm with the yellow side facing inwards or the
plastic disc with the smooth side facing inwards. Thread the retaining
ring and tighten securely with the enclosed wrench. Perform a negative
or positive pressure tightness test as described in the Advantage 1000
and Millennium instruction manuals.
The gasket must be in the receptacle or an air-tight seal will not be
achieved. The user must complete a tightness test before using the
facepiece in hazardous atmospheres. Failure to follow these warn-
ings can result in serious personal injury or death.
