OPERATING AND SAFETY INSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
Additional Safety Instructions for Valves and Accessories being used
in a Potentially Explosive Atmosphere under ATEX 94/9/EG

1. Valves with an symbol can be used for
zone 1 and 2.
2. The marking on the valve and the content of
this Instruction must be observed. For the
operation of the valve in an ex-application
with gas or dust, all relevant safety
regulations must be observed. In particular:
- Directive 98/37/EC of the European
Parliament and of the Council for
Machinery.
- Directive 94/9/EC of the European
Parliament and the Council, concerning
equipment and protective systems
intended for use in potentially explosive
atmospheres.
3. Ensure that there is no risk of potential
source of ignition during maintenance
or installation. Allrequired personnel
protection means should be worn.
4. In particular, all items included in an
valve package, including valve, actuator
and all accessories must meet the sound
engineering practice and is CE marked to
ATEX in the appropriate and/or requested
ATEX Group and category. By the assembly
the installer must thoroughly follow the
operating and safety instructions provided
for each individual item of equipment.
The assembly of such a package will not
generate new source of ignition.
5. Rest danger: at disturbances and/or
deviations/disregard of the operating
parameters an uncontrolled chemical
reaction in the product area can take place.

With an installed drives a zone spreading is
not to exclude even if all necessary safety
precautions were met, exists a rest danger
by leakages or mechanical damage to the
valve.
6. Products which are accepted for ATEX are
marked with II 2 G D X or II 2 G IIC X,
“X” is the maximum possible surface
temperature can be 200°C, influenced of
the medium temperature and the operating
conditions, like the ambient temperature
and the operation frequency of the valve.
7. In applications the valve should be
connected to the electrical compensation
system (grounded to earth).
8. Final checks:
- The valve and valve flanges are tight.
- The valve functionality and operates
smoothly.
9. Measures against electrostatic loading. The
surfaces of plastic part may not be rubbed.
Cleaning only with damp cloth is permitted.
10. Accumulation of dust on the body surface
must be avoided. Extract dust with vacuum
cleaning in case of accumulation.
