•This furnace must be installed in accordance with
these instructions, all applicable local building codes
andthecurrentrevisionoftheNationalFuelGasCode
(NFPA54/ANSIZ223.1)ortheNaturalGasandPropane
InstallationCode,CAN/CGAB149.1.
•Use only with type of gas approved for this furnace.
Refer to the furnace rating plate.
•Install this furnaceonly in a location and position as
speciedinFigure1,(page6).
•Provideadequatecombustionandventilationairtothe
furnacespaceasspeciedonpages 7-10.
•Provideadequateclearancesaroundtheventairintake
terminalasspeciedinFigure7, Figure8,(page12),
Figure9,(page13),&Figure10,(page13)
•Combustion products must be discharged outdoors.
Connect this furnace to an approved vent system only,
asspeciedonpages 10 - 14.
•Never test for gas leaks with an open ame. Use a
commercially available soap solution to check all
connections.Seepages 21 -22.
•This furnaceisdesignedtooperatewithamaximum
external pressureriseof0.5inchesofwatercolumn.
Consult Table 7, (page 31) and the rating plate for
thepropercirculatingairowandtemperaturerise.Itis
important that the duct system be designed to provide
the correct ow rates and external pressure rise. An
improperly designed duct system can result in nuisance
shutdowns, and comfort or noise issues.
•Whensupplyductscarryaircirculatedbythefurnace
to areas outside the space containing the furnace, the
returnairshallalsobehandledbyduct(s)sealedtothe
furnace casing and terminating in the conditioned space.

•Agas-redfurnaceforinstallationinaresidentialgarage
mustbeinstalledasspeciedonpage 6.
•This furnace may be used for temporary heating of
buildingsor structures under construction. See the
guidelines listed on page 6.
•The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires
compliance with regulation 248 CMR 4.00 and 5.00 for
installation of through – the – wall vented gas appliances
as follows:
1. Fordirect-ventappliances,mechanical-ventheating
appliancesordomestichotwaterequipment,where
the bottom of the vent terminal and the air intake is
installed below four feet above grade the following
requirementsmustbesatised:
a.) Acarbonmonoxide(CO)detectorandalarmshall
be placed on each floor level where there are
bedrooms.ThedetectorshallcomplywithNFPA
720(2005Edition)andbemountedintheliving
areaoutsidethebedroom(s).
b.) A(CO)detectorshallbelocatedintheroomthat
housestheapplianceorequipmentandshall:
• Be powered by the same electrical circuit as
theapplianceorequipment.Onlyoneservice
switchshallpowertheapplianceandthe(CO)
detector;
• Havebatteryback-uppower;
• Meet ANSI/UL 2034 Standards and comply
with NFPA 720 (2005 Edition); and Approved
andlistedbyaNationallyRecognizedTesting
Laboratory as recognized under 527 CMR.
c.) AProduct-approvedventterminalmustbeused,
andifapplicable,aproduct-approvedairintakemust
beused.Installationshallbeinstrictcompliance
with the manufacturer’s instructions. A copy of
the installation instructions shall remain with the
applianceorequipmentatthecompletionofthe
installation.
d.) A metal or plastic identication plate shall be
mountedattheexteriorofthebuilding,fourfeet
directly above the location of vent terminal. The
plateshallbeofsufcientsize,easilyreadfrom
adistanceofeightfeetaway,andread“GasVent
DirectlyBelow”.
2. Fordirect-ventappliances,mechanical-ventheating
appliancesordomestichotwaterequipmentwhere
the bottom of the vent terminal and the air intake is
installed above four feet above grade the following
requirementsmustbesatised:-
a.) A(CO)detectorandalarmshallbeplacedoneach
floor level where there are bedrooms. The detector
shallcomplywithNFPA720(2005Edition)andbe
mountedinthelivingareaoutsidethebedroom(s).
b.) The(CO)detectorshall:
• Be located in the room that houses the
applianceorequipment;
• Behard-wiredorbatterypoweredorboth.
• ShallcomplywithNFPA720(2005Edition).
c.) Aproduct-approvedventterminalmustbeused,
andifapplicable,aproduct-approvedairintakemust
beused.Installationshallbeinstrictcompliance
with the manufacturer’s instructions. A copy of
the installation instructions shall remain with the
applianceorequipmentatthecompletionofthe
installation.
