Powerful 2,000 W (3-1/4 HP) motor (M 12VE)
In order to reduce both weight and price, the new model incorporates an armature fan made of resin, unlike
the one made of aluminum in the existing model. The use of the resin fan lowers the armature’s moment of
inertia, which is a factor in increasing cutting efficiency. Therefore, the new model is somewhat inferior to the
existing Model M 12V2 in terms of cutting efficiency for heavy cutting work as shown in the figure below.
However, the new model can provide cutting efficiency equivalent to that of the existing model and higher
than that of the C1 in the practical working range of relatively light cutting work because it adopts a motor
having the same rated power (2,000 W) as that of the existing model, while achieving a significant weight
reduction.

1. Safety Instructions
In the interest of promoting the safest and most efficient use of the Model M 12VE and M 12SE
Routers by all of our customers, it is very important when concluding a sale that the salesperson
carefully ensure that the buyer seriously recognizes the importance of the Handling Instructions,
and fully understands the precautions listed on the caution plate attached to each tool.
A. Handling instructions
Although every effort is made in each step of design, manufacture, and inspection to provide
protection against safety hazards, the dangers inherent in the use of any electric power tool cannot
be completely eliminated. Accordingly, the Handling Instructions list general precautions and
suggestions on the use of electric power tools, and specific precautions and suggestions on the use
of the Router to enhance the safe, efficient use of the tool by customers. Salespersons must
therefore be thoroughly familiar with the Handling Instructions in order to offer appropriate guidance
to customers during sales promotion activities.
B. Caution plate
(1) The following cautions are listed on the Name Plate attached to the main body.
[ For the USA and Canada ]
[ For Australia, New Zealand, Asia and South Africa ]
2. Special Precautions
The Handling Instructions and caution plate describe precautions on using this router. However,
salespersons should instruct customers to strictly observe the following precautions that require
special attention:
(1) Groove cutting (for a cutting depth of 20 mm or more) with a straight bit must be performed in
several times because the bit generates large recoil force during cutting.
(2) Excessively high feeding speed may not only damage the motor and/or the bit, but may also
roughly cut surfaces. A feeding speed too low may leave traces of burn on cut surfaces.
(3) The parallel or straight guide must be attached on the right side facing the feeding direction of
the router. Attaching the guide on the left side will increase the recoil force of the bit and may
result in sloppy cutting.
(4) The collet chuck must always be tightened after the bit is inserted. Tightening the collet chuck
without the bit being inserted may deform the collet chuck and disable bit insertion.
(5) After tightening the collet chuck, make sure that the lock pin returns to its original position. Using
the router with the lock pin engaged with the armature shaft may damage the lock pin and
armature shaft.
PRECAUTIONS ON SALES PROMOTION
-6-
Before disassembly, always disconnect the power cord from the power source. Also be sure to remove the
bit from the router to prevent personal injury and avoid damaging the cutting edge.
1. Precautions on Disassembly and Reassembly
[Bold] numbers in the description below correspond to item numbers in the Parts List and exploded view
assembly diagram for the Model M 12VE; numbers correspond to those in the Parts List and
exploded view assembly diagram for Model M 12SE.
1. Disassembling the Base
(1) Place the main body with the Base [68] <64> positioned at the bottom.
(2) Fix Lever (A) [58] <54> in place.
(3) Remove Screw M8 [51] <47> with a 13-mm wrench.
(4) Loosen Lever (A) [58] <54>, and then remove the Base [68] <64> from the main body. Because the
Springs [41] <37> and [55] <51> are contained inside the columns on the base, firmly hold the handle to
support the main body when removing the base.
2. Disassembling the Top Cover
(1) Loosen the two Tapping Screws (W/Flange) D4 x 20 (Black) [7] <4>, and then remove the Top Cover [1] <1>.

3. Disassembling the Armature and End Bracket
(1) Remove the Carbon Brush [29] <25>.
(2) Loosen and remove the Tapping Screw D5 x 50 [60] <56>.
(3) While being careful to prevent the Magnet [10] from touching the Stator, remove the Armature [39] <35>
and End Bracket [45] <41> from the Housing Ass’y [36] <32>. Because the Magnet [10] (left-hand
screw) is fragile, handle it very carefully (only applicable to the Model M 12VE).
(4) Remove the Lock Piece [56] <52> located inside the End Bracket [45] <41>.
(5) While being careful not to drop the Magnet [10], remove the Magnet [10] (left-hand screw) from the
Armature [39] <35> with a 14-mm wrench. (This step only applies to the Model M 12VE.)
(6) Loosen the three Machine Screws (W/Washers) M4 x 12 (Black) [64] <60>, and then remove the Bearing
Cover [63] <59>, Pushing Button [66] <62>, and Lock Spring (A) [65] <61>.
(7) While being careful not to drop the core of the Armature [39] <35>, secure the Armature [39] <35> with a
vice.
(8) Use a wrench to turn the Thrust Nut [62] <58> counterclockwise and remove it.
(9) Use a hand press to remove the Armature [39] <35> from the End Bracket [45] <41>.
NOTE: This router is designed to minimize imbalance of the armature in order to reduce vibration.
Therefore, handle the armature very carefully.

120 V for USA and Canada products
AC 3,000 V applied for one minute, with no abnormalities
110 V to 127 V (except for UK, USA and Canada products)
