1. Safety Information

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral

triangle, is intended to

alert the user to the presence of un-insulated “dangerous

voltage”

is intended to show that this appliance must not be

placed with ordinary household waste at the end of its useful life. To prevent possible

2. Safety Instructions

CAUTION. PLEASE READ AND OBSERVE ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN IN THIS

USER MANUAL AND MARKED ON THE APPLIANCE. RETAIN THIS BOOKLET FOR FUTURE USE.

This set has been designed and manufactured to assure your personal safety. Improper use can

result in Electric shock or Fire hazard. The safeguards in this appliance will protect you if you

observe the correct procedures for installation, servicing and operation. There are NO user parts

inside. DO NOT REMOVE THE CASE OR OTHER COVERS OR YOU MAY BE EXPOSED TO

DANGEROUS VOLTAGES OR LASER RADIATION AND WILL INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY.

REFER ALL SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.

Unpacking and Handling. Open the carton carefully and remove the top polyfoam

packing.

Carefully lift the TV and place onto a firm stable surface. Lift

off the Poly bag and retain all

packaging for future use. Keep all packaging away from small children and animals.

Placing TV. TheTV

should be placed on a firm table or shelf. Do not place in a cabinet unless there

is sufficient spacing for air flow and access for the DVD player

opening.

Connections. When connecting the TV to external sources and the mains supply, do not place wires

that can be tripped over. Do not place heavy objects, bend or trap the mains lead or mains adaptor.

Top of TV. Do not place objects such as vases, candles or other objects which may spill into the TV.

Ventilation and Heat Sources. Do not place material over the ventilation slots, this will cause the

TV to overheat and fail. Do not place the TV in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as radiators

or fires.

Moisture. Do not place the TV in wet or damp conditions, such as steamy kitchens, basements or

other damp places. Do not allow water or other fluids to enter the TV. Do not touch the Mains plug

or Mains adaptor with wet hands. Should moisture enter the TV , disconnect from the supply and call

the customer help line.

Cleaning. Disconnect the TV from the mains supply. Use a soft dry cloth, for stubborn stains use a

soft moist cloth with a dilute mild detergent.. Do NOT use petrol based fluids

Moisture. Do not place the TV in wet or damp conditions, such as steamy kitchens, basements or

and when local thunderstorms occur, disconnect

the aerial “if external”

and mains supply.

1. Standby button.

Switches the TV to stand-by and on again. The TV is

only fully disconnected from the mains supply when the

mains plug is turned off or disconnected.

Menu.

Activates the On-screen menu’s

Volume Up/Down

Adjusts volume levels. Also moves left and right whilst

navigating in the menu’s.

Programme Up/Down

Channel select buttons. Also moves Up and Down whilst

navigating the menu’s

TV/AV

Displays the available input source list.

6. Remote Control Use

To use the remote control, insert the batteries into the battery

compartment. Ensure the POWER button of

the TV is switched on. Point the remote control towards the remote control sensor on the TV and press the

STANDBY button. The TV will now come out of standby and the screen will light.

The range of the remote control is approx 5 metres at an angle of no more than 30 º

To install the batteries: (not supplied)

Open the battery compartment cover on the rear of the remote control.

Insert 2 x “AAA”

1.5V alkaline cells in accordance with the diagram in the

battery compartment. Take care to observe the polarity (+/-) and refit the

cover.

Note :-

•

Dispose of exhausted batteries responsibly at a local household

waste

recycling facility.

•

DO NOT dispose of batteries in a fire as they may explode and cause

injury.

• Only use “AAA”

1.5V cells in this appliance.

• Use batteries of the same type. Do not mix battery types.

• Do not mix old and new cells. Replace both at same time.

• Do not try to dismantle cells, they may cause injury.

• Always remove cells if not using the remote control for some time.

10. External Connections

It is possible to connect many different types of external equipment to your TV.

A variety of sockets are provided to assist with this and are shown in Fig 10.

A typical possibility is shown using a DVD Recorder or VCR.

Do NOT connect more than one type of connection to each apparatus as this could cause

interference to sound or picture.

SCART. This connection is most popular and is for general purpose connections to VCR or DVD/R.

CVBS./AV L/R. This is used with older equipment, typically VCR’s, Camcorders and TV game

consoles.

S-VIDEO / AV/L/R. This is used with later equipment with a S-VIDEO connection for higher quality

pictures.

HDMI. This is provided for the latest equipment and provides High Definition pictures (providing the

material is suitable).

VGA./Line In This connects to a PC to allow you to use the TV as a PC Monitor.

To select the inputs, press the INPUT button to display the INPUT menu, (see Fig 6).

Scroll up or down using the▲/▼buttons and press ENTER to confirm.

If you are using HDMI for the first time, from a DVD player or similar item, you may need to set the

“source” output on the DVD player. To do this connect a “SCART” lead and the HDMI lead from

the item to the Tv, Select SCART). Enter the setup menu of the external item (see manufacturers

guide) and select the HDMI output. Select HDMI input on the Tv and you should see a picture

from the external item. When your setup is complete, remove the SCART lead.

11. Using Headphones

A stereo headphone socket has been provided so that you may listen to the TV without disturbing

others. Plug in the headphones at the point at the rear of the TV and adjust the listening

volume to your chosen level.

Do not operate the headphones at excessive levels for long periods as this may cause hearing loss

or impairment.

Connecting the headphones will switch off the internal loudspeakers

12. Using a conditional Access Module (CAM) in the CI

slot

This feature allows the user to access digital terrestrial

“pay per view”

channels

To use this facility you need to purchase a Conditional

Access module (CAM) and a viewing card, these may

be obtained from most good high street retailers.

To fit the CAM disconnect the DC power plug and

insert into the CI slot, ensuring the label faces the back

of the TV. A positive stop should be felt if the module is

fitted correctly. Do NOT force the module. To release

the CAM, press the button at the side of the CI slot.

Plug in the TV and switch on.

Press the INPUT button to display the source menu

(Fig 6) and use the cursor ▲ / ▼ buttons to select DTV

and press ENTER to select.

To check that the CAM is working, press the MENU

button to display the main menu. (Fig 8)

Using the ►button select the SETUP icon and display the SETUP menu.

Using the ▲ / ▼ buttons move down the display to highlight “COMMON INTERFACE”

and press

ENTER to select (Fig 11)

To view the parameters of the module press ENTER.

To access the various parameters of the module (Fig 12) use the ▲ / ▼ buttons and press ENTER.

To exit the menu’s press EXIT.

Insert the “pay per view”

card and select a channel in the usual manner.

13. Viewing Teletext

Analog Tv.

Press the INPUT button and highlight TV using the ▲/▼ buttons and press ENTER to select.

Chose the TV channel you wish to view as normal

Press the TEXT button once to display the Teletext (Text) index

on the screen.

Press the TEXT button twice to see a mixed image of TV picture and TEXT.

Press the TEXT button again or EXIT button to exit text mode.

Use the number keys to select the page you wish to view, or the quick access coloured buttons

(Fast Text) to select the subject corresponding coloured text at

the bottom of the screen.

To increase the size of text, press the SIZE button. This will show the top half of the screen. Press

again too display the lower half of the screen. Press again or the EXIT button to revert to normal

size.

To freeze the page you are viewing, press the HOLD button. Press

again to un-freeze.

To reveal any hidden text (eg

quiz answers) on the page being viewed, press the REVEAL button.

Press again to exit the feature.

To access any sub-page of the page being viewed, press the SUBPAGE button. A bar will be

displayed at the bottom of the text page. Press again to exit the feature.

To access or return to the main TV text index, press the INDEX button.

To view subtitles on the screen, press “888”

in text mode. If the station is transmitting sub titles

these will be viewed at the bottom of the screen.

To turn off the subtitle feature, press EXIT.

Digital TV.

Press the INPUT button and highlight DTV using the▲ / ▼buttons and press ENTER to select.

Press the TEXT button to display the TEXT menu on the right side

of the screen.

Press the ▲ / ▼buttons to select the subject of interest and press ENTER to confirm.

If there is more than one page of text use the cursor ◄ / ► buttons to move to the next page.

Press TEXT to exit the function to return to the programme being

viewed.

14. Accessing and using the Menu’s

Various features of the TV can be changed using the system menu.

Press the MENU button and a menu will appear on the screen,

dependant on the input source selected.

Press the ◄ / ► buttons to select the icon required and display the

menu of choice.

Use the▲ / ▼ buttons to navigate up and down the menu to the

desired function.

Use the ◄ / ► buttons to change the setting of this function.

Where an arrow ► is shown in the menu use the ► button to

initiate to option.

The option / setting displayed on the menu will be automatically

stored on exiting the menu.

Press the MENU or EXIT button to exit the menu’s. Alternatively

wait 10 seconds (this time can be set in the menu’s) and the TV will

automatically exit the menu.

15. Quick Access buttons

Input.

This button displays the input source menu. Press the INPUT button to display the menu and use the

▲ / ▼ button to highlight the required input, then press ENTER.

P Mode.

This button allows the user to adjust the contrast/colour of the picture being displayed. Press P MODE

button repeatedly to scroll through the settings in the sequence below.

S Mode.

This button allows the user to change the sound of the programme being broadcast. Press the SMODE

button repeatedly to scroll through the settings in the sequence below.

Quick Access buttons cont..

Display.

This function will allow information relating to the current TV station or programme to be displayed on

the screen. Press the DISPLAY button to display the programme information at the base of the screen.

Press the button again to remove the information.

Subpage/Subtitle.

This function will allow any subtitles for the DIGITAL TV service only, being broadcast, to be displayed

on the screen. Press again to turn off the subtitles.

Aspect.

This function allows the screen aspect ratio to be selected when

viewing TV.

Press the ASPECT button to switch between Widescreen (16:10) or Auto formats for digital TV and a

variety of formats for analog TV.

Lang

This function allows the audio language to be selected if transmitted by the programme provider.

16. Organising Channels

Swap Feature.

This feature allows the user to swap the position of two ANALOG TV stations, for example after auto

search has been performed. To move the stations into the correct order compared to the TV guide

(eg

Channel 1 = BBC1, Channel 2 = BBC2 etc).

Select Analog TV.

Press the MENU button to display the main menu.

Use the ► button to select the SETUP icon and display the setup menu.

Use the ▲ / ▼buttons to highlight PROGRAM EDIT and press ► to select.

Use the ▲ / ▼buttons to highlight the station to be moved and press the ► button.

Use the ▲ / ▼buttons to move the station to the desired location.

Press the ► button to confirm the move.

Note :-

Always start at the lower TO location. Eg

BBC1 = Location 1.

EPG. (Electronic Programme Guide) DTV only

This function allows a channel schedule to be displayed for a time

interval of one week.

Press the EPG button to display the schedule on the screen. Fig 13

Use the channel CH buttons to select the channel of choice.

Use the ◄ / ► buttons to move to the day of choice.

Use the ▲ / ▼buttons to select the programme of choice. Brief details of the programme selected will be

displayed at the top right of the screen.

If the programme is currently being broadcast press ENTER to view the channel.

If the programme id due to be broadcast at a later time or day, press ENTER to set a reminder for the

programme. A prompt will appear on the screen when the programme

is due to start and will

automatically switch to that programme after 30 seconds
