F1S Froster Optimal Performance Guide
Designed Temperature Range is 12F to 20F, with Two Types of Defrost Cycles
-Automatic Defrost: The unit will go into a hot gas defrost every 6 hours. The melting snowflake will be
illuminated on the controller. The evaporator fan will be off. This cycle will terminate when the defrost
probe in the evaporator drain pan senses 40F or a max of 40 minutes.
-User Initiated 6 Hour Manual Defrost: The manual defrost will last for 6 hours. During this defrost the
evaporator fan inside the box is on and continues to circulate the internal air. The compressor is off. The
manual defrost button on the front cover should be pressed once a week, at the end of the night. The
controller will flash “ECO” and can be returned to normal operation by pressing the button once more.
Common Contributors to Frozen Evaporator Coils
-Hot or wet glasses (must be at room temperature and dry when placing in the unit)
-Leaving the door open for extended periods of time
-Door gasket not sealing properly or damaged
-Specialty ice that is not kept in a sealed container
-Excessive building humidity and moisture
-Holes through the exterior walls that are not sealed
Keeping Specialty Ice
Frosters are able to maintain specialty ice in their form with some extra care. Remember, these boxes have
defrost settings that raise the temperature and will likely deform the ice if precautions are not taken.
-Excessive frost build up will cause longer defrost times and higher temperatures reached
-Keep the ice in a sealed container to minimize the effects of the temperature change
-Remove specialty ice before initiating defrost
Hard Reset / Full Thaw
As with any freezer or froster, you can remove all product and unplug the unit for a minimum of 24 hours.
-This will likely overflow the drain pan and cause water to drip on the floor. That is all of the ice that was
built up around the evaporator coil and the evaporator drain pan.
If after applying this information, including a complete thaw of 24 hours, your unit is still not operating
correctly, please contact Glastender Warranty at 800-748-0423 Ext. 104 or email
