DMBE TYXAL+ is a passive infrared motion detector, de-
signed to detect the infrared radiation emitted by human
bodies.
This motion detector aims to protect the outside of a
building by detecting intrusions prior to penetration into
the premises.
As soon as a presence is detected, it raises the alarm.
• Associated to a control unit:
- alarm signal.
- pre-alarm signal: as soon as a person enters the
protected zone, a sound and visual signal (outdoor siren)
warns you of the imminent alarm.
For optimal operation, please comply with the following recommendations:
In the event of non-compliance, the product may present malfunctions or
may not function optimally.

Installation height: between 0.8 m and 1.2 m
Install the motion detector vertically, with its
high detection zones parallel to the ground.
If the detector is installed at an angle,
detection reliability may be compromised.
Install the motion detector vertically, with
both high and low detection zones parallel
to the wall.
To make sure the device functions properly,
attach the motion detector to the wall.
Read the entire guide before starting
to install the device.
!
Do not install close to a heat pump or heat
evacuation outlet (dryer, etc.).
Note
This product detects temperature differences between moving and background targets within the
detection zone.
If the target remains motionless, the motion detector cannot detect it. This may affect the detec-
tor's maximum detection range.

Note:
Settings for the
lower left- and
right-hand areas
can be changed
independently.
Example: the right-hand lens on D and the
left-hand lens on C.
If an obstacle cuts through the beams along the wall, these
beams can be inclined horizontally towards the front, up to 3
degrees, to avoid this obstacle.
!
To trigger the detection process, both beams on a same side must be cut
through simultaneously.
If you change the beams' inclination:
The high and low beams of a same side are to be confi gured identi-
cally (same angle).
• Sensitivity must be set to HI (high). See section on sensitivity settings.

To change these settings:
Unblock the three stops on
each side of the lens mount
by sliding in a screwdriver
blade, as shown below.
Gently separate the lens
mount and front top cover.
Principle:
Remove the fi xing screw
from the top cover and
withdraw the cover.
Move the lens frontwards to tilt the
beam 3°
(distance from the wall),
Check that the lateral notch at the
rear of the lens mount is cleared
(empty).
Ë Ì
After having selected the detection zone's settings, return the
lens mount to the top cover before aligning the three stops (A,
B and C) on each side of the lens mount with the three notches
(A', B' and C') on the front top cover.
¹
By selecting the 3-degree beam inclination,
the detection zone starts at 0.60 m from the
wall and extends 12 m.
Ê
Set the range by gently sliding the lens in its
compartment.
The high beam will always remain parallel to the ground.
The lower beam can be directed as shown below.
The range is limited by the lower beam's angle, as high and low beams must be cut through simulta-
neously to activate the motion detector.
Ê
Principle:
To change these settings:
Gently separate the lens mount
and front top cover.

¹
Return the lens mount to the top cover.
(See "Setting beam inclination")
Î
Put the top cover in its place and conduct a detection test.
(See "Detection test").
You can use the LED light to determine the detection zones
(See section "Function settings" Switch 3).
If the detection zones are not suitable, readjust the range by sliding the lens to another position on
the LENS MOUNT.
SENS
L
M
H
The sensitivity can be set to 3 different positions:
• L(low),
• M (medium),
• H (high),
The chosen position will depend on environmental condi-
tions.
Detection sensitivity settings
We recommend that you set the sensitivity level to
H (high):
When the detection beams were tilted horizontally.
When higher sensitivity is required towards the end of
the detection zone (12 m).
L (low):
When the device is installed in a mediocre location
(bad conditions).
When there is a high risk of faulty detection.

Important: The switch must be in this position during
normal operation.
(The LED stays off to save battery life).
• Detection TEST position
The LED lights up when the detector's beam is cut
through.
(Battery's energy-saving timer)
For optimal operation, leave switch 2 on the following
position:
• Position 120 s. Do not change this setting.
(Detection LED)
OFF position: LED is switched off
ON position: LED is switched on if the detector is
activated.
(Battery life is reduced).

Problem Probable cause Solution
The LED fl ashes
continuously.
Incorrect power supply.
Establish a power supply
set between 3 and 9 Vdc for the battery.
Triggered
detection without any
objects moving
The motion detector was not installed
perpendicularly to the ground.
Install the motion detector
correctly.
A refl ecting object is located within the
detection zone.
Eliminate all refl ecting surfaces from the
detection zone.
The lower beam is longer than expected. Check and readjust the detection beam.
The lower detection beam is exposed to
direct sun rays or to car headlights.
Readjust the detection beam
so it is no longer exposed to direct light
sources.
Presence of a heat source (heating de-
vice, etc.) in the detection zone that may
cause the temperature to change.
Readjust the detection beam or eliminate
the heat source in the detection zone.
An object is moving (washing hung up on
a line, plants, etc.).
Readjust the detection beam or remove
moving objects.
In the event of heavy rain, water may pour
through the detection zone (overfl owing
gutter, roof/terrace/balcony drainage,
etc. )
Readjust the detection beam
so it is no longer directly exposed to the
owing water.
Occasionally no
detection.
Occasionally no detection. Readjust the detection beam correctly.
Sensitivity is set to L (low).
Readjust the sensitivity level to M (medi-
um) or H (high).
Occasionally no
detection when a
detection test is
conducted
The detection test switch is set to OFF.
(Battery's energy-saving timer is activa-
ted).
Flick the detection test mode switch to ON.
