2. Removetheeight(8)hexbolts(F1),eight(8)lockwashers
(F2),four(4)flatwashers(F3)andfour(4)
curvedwashers
(F4)fromrearframeassemblyBandsetaside.
3. Removethetwo(2)hexboltsG1fromtheleftandright
sidesoftheconsolemastassembly(C)andsetaside.
4. Standtherearframeassembly(B)rightsideupand
laythe
consolemastassembly(C)nearby.Join
connectorsDandEfirmlytoensureagood
connection.
5. CarefullystandconsolemastassemblyC
uprightandjoinwiththerearframe
assembly(B).Ensurerearassembly(B)isfully
insertedintotheconsolemastreceiver(C)by
confirming
theboltholesarealigned.

throughtheplasticcoverG4andinto

HeartRateisanImportantKeytoYourExercise
TheSurgeonGeneralalsoreleasedareportonphysicalactivityandhealth.Thisreportdictatesthatexerciseand
fitnessarebeneficialforaperson’shealthandreiteratedtheneedforexerciseasakeycomponentfordisease
preventionandhealthierliving.
The
bestwaytodetermineexerciseintensityistomonitoryourpulserate.Yourheartratecaneasilybedetermined
bycountingthenumberofheartbeatsperminuteatthechest,wristorthecarotidarteryonyourneck.Itisdifficult
howevertocountyourownpulsewhileexercising
asitisnotpossibletocountfastenoughtoaccuratelytrackthe
numberofbeatsperminute.TheDiamondbackFitness500Erisequippedwithasetoftouchheartratesensorsfor
monitoringyourheartrate.
UsingtheTouchHeartRateSensors
Whiletheunitispoweredonanda
workoutprogramisoperating,gentlygraspbothtouchheartratesensorsonthe
fixedhandlebarbelowtheconsole.Thecomputerwilldetectyourpulserateandregisterthevalueasatwo(2)or
three(3)digitnumberinthePulsewindowontheLCDdisplay.
NOTE: Ifaninconsistent
heartrateisdisplayedwhileusingthehandpulsesensors:
Ensurethepalmsofbothhandsaretouchingthecontactareasofthe
touchheartratesensors.
Applyandmaintainconstantandevenpressureuponthegrips.
Donotclutchthetouchheartratesensorstightly.
Try
tokeepbothhandsstillwhilegripingthetouchheartratesensor.
YourEstimatedMaximumHeartRate&TargetTrainingZone
Yourcalculatedtargetheartrate,ortheidealintensityneededtoimprove
cardiovascularfitness,dependsprimarilyuponyourageratherthanyourcurrentstateoffitness.Iftheexercise
intensityistoolowortoohigh,onlymodestgainswillbemadeinstrengthandcardiovascularfitness.Aworkoutat

averylowintensitywillnotoffermaximumbenefits.Conversely,iftheworkoutintensityistoohigh,injuryorfatigue
mayslowtheprogressionofyourexercisegoalsasthebodyattemptstorecover.
Itismosteffectivetotrainataheartratebetween60%and85%of
yourmaximumheartrate.Maximumheartrate
iscalculatedasapercentageofyourmaximumheartrate(estimatedas220beatsperminuteminusyourage).
Tocalculateyourmaximumheartrateandfindtheappropriatetargettrainingzone,usethefollowingformulas.For
example,thefollowingestimationwouldberelevant
fora35yearolduser:
22035=185Bpm (220Age=CalculatedMaximumHeartRateinBeatsperminute/Bpm)
0.60x185=111Bpm (60%of185BPM[CalculatedMaximumHeartRate]=111Bpm)

Itisrecommendedthatyouaccumulateatleastthirty(30)minutesofphysicalactivitymostdaysoftheweek.
TheAmericanCollegeofSportsMedicinemakesthefollowingrecommendationsforthequantityandqualityof
trainingfordevelopingandmaintainingcardiorespiratoryfitnessinhealthyadults:
Anactivitythat
useslargemusclegroups,maintainedcontinuously,andisrhythmicalandaerobicinnature.
Duration: 20to60minutesofcontinuousaerobicactivity,includingawarmupandcooldownperiodfor
eachsession.
Frequency: 3to5timesperweek.
Intensity: 60%to85%ofmaximumheartrate.
Inadditiontoaerobicexercise,strengthtrainingofmoderateintensitytwiceperweekisrecommended.Women
especiallymaybenefitfromweightbearingexercises.

dissipationoflacticacidandspeedyourbody’srecovery.
Thefirstfewminutesof
yourworkoutshouldbedevotedtowarmingupthemusclesbeforeavigorous
workout.Concentrateonraisingyourheartrateslowly.

asMphorKph(dependinguponthecurrentconsolesetting)and
isbasedupontheuser’spedalingspeed.
Levelreferstotheresistanceorloadthatiscurrentlybeingappliedduringthe
workout.Theloadlevelisalsodisplayedinthebrickyardmatrixasaflashingcolumn.Therearesixteen

workout.Wattsarecalculatedwithinputfromtheuser’scurrentSpeedandLoad.
WorkoutProfileorBrickyard
DuringtheSetupmodeandwhileaprogramisoperating,thisfieldwillgraphically
displaytheresistancelevelofthecurrentworkoutprogram.Ahigher“brick”stack
representsahigherloadorresistancelevel,witheachbrickrepresentingtwo(2)levels
ofresistance.Aflashingcolumnof
brickswillindicatetheuser’sprogressinthe
programatanygiventime.Inthediagramtotheleft,theuserhasprogressedtothe
sixthcolumn(flashing)andtheresistancelevelissetcurrentlysettotwelve(12).
Eachverticalcolumnrepresentsatimeintervaldeterminedbythetotal
lengthofthe
program.Eachcolumnwillequal1/10

willcommenceand“CoolDown”willbedisplayed.
