SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
The MX2820 SCU provides a security account management system that allows a user
with “Admin” access privileges to view which users are currently logged on to the system;
edit, create, disable, and restore default settings to the user accounts; and adjust security
settings. A RADIUS client is included that allows remote authentication of user sessions.
Bold text in Type column indicates default values.
COMPLIANCE

DESCRIPTION
The MX2820 System Controller Unit (SCU) is a plug-in unit for the MX2820 chassis that
acts as an interface between the user and the modules in the MX2820 system. The
MX2820 SCU also allows provisioning of IP, security, and craft port settings via a front
panel craft interface (DB-9 connector).
INSTALLATION AND TURNUP
After unpacking the unit, inspect it for damage. If damage is noted, file a claim with the
carrier and then contact ADTRAN. For more information, refer to the warranty.
This module occupies the SCU slot in the MX2820 chassis. Follow the steps listed below
to install the MX2820 SCU.
1. Pull the ejector latch down into the open position.
2. Gently, but firmly, slide the SCU into the SCU slot. Simultaneously, apply thumb
pressure at the top and at the bottom of the unit to ensure a good seat of the SCU into
the backplane connector.
3. Push the ejector latch up against the front panel until engaged.
The SCU initializes and begins a self-test upon insertion into an active chassis. When self-
test completes, the LEDs reflect the true state of the MX2820 SCU.

CONNECT AND LOGIN
Use the RS-232 DB-9 connector on the MX2820 SCU to provision the MX2820 system
through a VT100 terminal or VT100 terminal emulation software such as HyperTerminal.
Provision terminal port as follows:
♦ Data Rate: 9600 bps
♦ Asynchronous Data Format: eight data bits, no parity (none), one stop bit, and no flow
control
The default username is ADMIN and the default password is PASSWORD (both are all
caps).
